Abstract

Indonesia is a country rich in forest products. One of which is Gaharu, a treeless forest product with high economic value for the perfume, incense, and pharmaceutical industries. Gaharu in Indonesia comes from gaharu trees that are infected with bacteria so that the result is gaharu. Many aloes grow in Indonesia, one of which is in the settlement around the PT Arutmin Indonesia mine. In this case, the community needs science and technology to optimally utilize the abundant gaharu in their area. The purpose of this service is to provide science and technology as well as additional skills in utilizing gaharu effectively and quickly. The community was very enthusiastic in this service activity by actively participating in activities both from socialization to the practice of making gaharu sapwood inoculation. The manufacture of gaharu sapwood by inoculation is carried out using a drilling machine by wounding the trunk of the gaharu tree and then the wound is given bacteria that can make gaharu produce resin that is useful and of high selling value.

Abstract

This study develops and empirically tests an integrative model examining the influence of psychosocial factors and religious values on sustainability perceptions and tourist visit attractiveness in Indonesian tourism destinations. Grounded in the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and Value-Belief-Norm Theory (VBN), the model integrates tourist attitudes, social norms, and religious values as key antecedents shaping perceptions of sustainability, which subsequently influence visit intentions. Data were collected through a survey of 1,014 domestic tourists who had previously visited sustainable tourism destinations across Indonesia. The analysis employed Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to assess structural relationships among latent variables and to examine the mediating role of sustainability perceptions. The results indicate that all hypothesized relationships are statistically significant, with sustainability perceptions demonstrating a strong mediating effect between attitudes, social norms, religious values, and visit attractiveness. These findings highlight the critical role of spiritual and social dimensions in shaping tourists’ evaluations and preferences toward sustainable tourism destinations. The study contributes theoretically by extending the applicability of TPB and VBN frameworks within the sustainable tourism context. Practically, the findings offer strategic insights for destination managers and policymakers to incorporate value-based and religiously informed approaches in developing and promoting sustainable tourism destinations in Indonesia.

Abstract

Analyzing each exam question is a fundamental step in ensuring the quality of assessment instruments used in the instructional process. One crucial parameter in evaluation is the analysis of the level of question difficulty, as this is directly proportional to the accuracy of measuring student learning outcomes. This study aims to provide a comprehensive explanation of the concept of level of difficulty, the procedure for creating quality questions, and the urgency of item evaluation in creating balanced and fair assessments. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a literature study method (library research). Data were obtained from secondary sources including textbooks, journal articles, and various relevant scientific documents, which were then analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results of the study indicate that ideal questions must meet the balance between the level of difficulty (P) and discriminating power (D). Quality questions are not extreme; questions that are too easy will reduce test reliability, while questions that are too difficult can trigger anxiety and despair in students. The conclusion of this study confirms that teachers' understanding of descriptive item statistics—including the effectiveness of distractors—is an absolute requirement for improving educator professionalism in building quality question banks and supporting the objective achievement of learning objectives.

Abstract

Maritime exploration by European nations between the 15th and 17th centuries was driven by a number of factors, including the fall of Constantinople, which cut off overland trade routes to Asia, advances in navigational technology such as the compass and caravels, and the desire to acquire wealth (gold), glory, and spread Christianity. Portugal and Spain were the main pioneers in opening new trade routes to Asia, followed by the Netherlands and England, who continued to expand their explorations to various parts of the world. These exploration activities had a major impact, such as the establishment of international trade routes, the colonization of new regions, cultural exchange, and social and economic changes in the explored regions. This event marked the beginning of the era of globalization that has influenced modern world history.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of using comic strip media on students’ conceptual understanding of bullying in elementary schools. The ongoing phenomenon of bullying in primary education highlights the need for learning strategies that can foster social awareness, empathy, and anti-violence character from an early age. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design involving two groups: an experimental group taught using comic strip media and a control group taught through conventional methods. The participants consisted of 58 fifth-grade students from UPT SPF SD Inpres Unggulan BTN Pemda, Makassar, selected through a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was a validated conceptual understanding test covering indicators such as recognizing forms of bullying, understanding its impacts, and identifying preventive actions. The analysis results revealed a significant improvement in the experimental group’s conceptual understanding compared to the control group. The comic strip media helped students comprehend moral and social values through contextual and visually engaging storytelling. Learning became more meaningful as students actively interpreted moral messages and reflected on social behavior within the school environment. This study demonstrates that comic strip media is an effective educational tool to enhance conceptual understanding and foster positive character development, aligning with the Merdeka Curriculum that emphasizes value-based and human-centered learning.
