Abstract: The research aims to know the application of M-APOS for overcome student’s mistakes aboutvolume of cube and cuboidtopic at eight grade of juniorhigh school. M-APOS is development of APOS theory. M-APOS using ACE teaching cycle that consists of three components: activities, classroom discussion, and exercises. The subject of research is students of VIII E class SMPN 7 Jember in even semester academic year 2012/ 2013. The kinds of student’s mistakes consist of error using data, error of theorem or definition, technical errors, and another mistakes. This research design is Classroom Action Research (CAR) and the method of data collecting using observation, interview, test and documentation. The result of research indicate that the result of learning activity increase of student’s activity of cycle I reach 82,2% and cycle II reach 85,8%. While the student’s mistakes at cycle I reach 17,4% and cycle II 8,55%. So, the mode of teaching can increase student’s activity and decrease the student’s mistakes. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the stages of creative thinking of students with choleric personality types in solving Algebra problems. This type of research is qualitative research. Students with choleric personality types are given Algebra questions followed by interviews to explore information in students' creative thinking processes. The results obtained are students capable to form a mathematical model of the information contained in the problem using the Algebra symbol at the preparation stage. Students are capable to find more than one settlement idea by utilizing the equations formed in the problem and require a short time to understand the problem at the incubation stage. Students are capable to write the completion steps containing Algebra operations systematically at the illumination stage. Students are capable to recheck the answers generated by substitute the value of the variable sought into an equation well at the illumination stage. The conclusion of this study is that choleric students are capable to fulfill all the indicators at the Wallas creative thinking stage. This can be seen from the results of the Algebra test given and the results of the interviews that have been conducted.

Abstract

Abstract. The profile of creative thinking is a general person's view of human mental activity in solving mathematical problems with the ability to find various possible answers or find one answer in common but in various ways. This research aims to describe the profile of students' creative thinking based on Wallas Stage in solving mathematical problems of fractional operations based on gender differences. This research was conducted in Junior High School 6 Jember. Research subjects are all students of class VII B which consists of 27 female students and 11 male students. Interviewing process was conducted using Snowball Throwing method in which subject is randomly taken until finally 3 male students and 3 female students has been obtained as the subjects of the interview. Data collection is done through test and interviews. The results of this research showed that male and female students have been through four stages of creative thinking according to Wallas namely the preparation stage, incubation stage, illumination stage and verification phase. Male students are able to write down what is known and asked in the question well but explain the purpose of the question less fluently (preparation), through the process of short-while brooding (incubation), obtain one idea of correct solution (illumination), less detailed and coherently write the steps of problem solving, and has reviewed the answer (verification). Female students can write down what is known and asked in the question completely and fluently explain the purpose of the question (preparation), through process of long-while brooding (incubation), obtain one idea of correct solution and coherently write the steps of problem solving (illumination), And has reviewed the answer by recalculating the results of the work (verification). Abstract

This reserach aims to analyze the student error and determine the percentage of student error doing word problems on subject of the quadrilateral based on Newman’s Error Analysis (NEA) viewed from mathematical logic intelligence. This research use a qualitative approach and the type of research is descriptive. Subject in this research are 6 students in class VII H of Junior High School 7 Jember. Data collection was performed by the method of test and interview. There were 7 students who have high mathematical logic intelligence, 21 students who have medium mathematical logic intelligence, and 9 students who have low mathematical logic intelligence. The result of research showed that the error made by students with high mathematical logic intelligence consist 10% reading error, 3,3% comprehension error, 3,3% transformation error, 3,3% process skill error, and 6,7% encoding error. The error made by students with medium mathematical logic intelligence consist 10% reading error, 6,7% comprehension error, 16,7% transformation error, 13,3% process skill error, and 13,3% encoding error. The error made by students with low mathematical logic intelligence consist 13,3% reading error, 13,3% comprehension error, 20% transformation error, 20% process skill error, and 13,3% encoding error. Abstract

Abstract. The problem based learning model or known as Problem Based Instruction (PBI) always presents problems in real life context. This learning model has brought the students to get involved in the process of finding and investigating. The steps in this learning model were directing the students to the problems, organizing the students to learn, helping independent and group investigation, developing and presenting artifact and exhibits, and also analyzing and evaluating of problem solving. This research applied two cycles covering planning, action, observing, and reflection. The Approach used in this research was qualitative approach. This research was a Class room Action Research Design (CAR). This research design was adopted from Hopkin’s, which each cycle has four phases or steps, those are planning, action, observing, and reflection, and then continued to the following cycle. Data collection method used in this research was test, observation, documentation, and interview. Acording to the observation, the students individual activity from the first up to the fourth meeting is 69,87%, 72,22%, 74,3% and 79,72%, and the students group activity from the first up to the fourth meeting is 75,27%, 76,13%, 80,83% and 91,1%. The percentage of the students who achieved the target was 82.5%, with 7 students were failed in the first cycle. In the second cycle, the percentage of the students who achieved the target was 95% with 2 students were failed. Key Words : Problem Based Instruction, Achievements
