Abstract

Agarwood is a type of wood produced by several species of trees from the Aquilaria genus, especially Aquilaria malaccensis. Agarwood has high value in the perfume and traditional medicine industries because of its unique aromatic compounds. Agarwood can be formed due to interactions between microbes (certain inoculum) and host plants and chemical mechanisms that ultimately form a product, namely sapwood. Local inoculum is effective in producing gaharu, because it is endemic to certain areas. Some of the partners' obstacles that are strongly felt include (1) the low ability of farmer group members in terms of breeding agarwood plants both naturally (generatively) including propagation treatments using mature seeds and saplings (plucks) as well as plant cutting patterns. (2) There is no knowledge and skills of members of the two partner groups in carrying out the breeding and maintenance of gaharu seedlings. This service uses training and seeding methods for seed patterns and saplings (plucks) and plant cuttings. This method is appropriate to use where the participation of partner farmers in improving skills and the mentoring process is carried out directly by practicing. The pattern of implementing community service activities for partner farmers applies the principle of "learning by doing" learning while working. Agarwood Nursery Training in the Former Conflict Area in North Aceh has been able to increase knowledge, skills and change attitudes in the cultivation of agarwood plants. The impacts felt by the existence of agarwood plant breeding activities include; increasing the economic income of partner farmers, increasing social harmony among group members and the community at the location of service activities.

Abstract

The study aims to examine the socio-economics of capture fisheries in the coastal areas of East Aceh Regency. The socio-economic conditions of capture fisheries are studied using qualitative and quantitative descriptive approaches, including fishermen's activities in fishing, capture fisheries resources, and the economic potential of capture fisheries. Analysis of fishermen's income is carried out to calculate the amount of income and the amount of income distribution among capture fisheries business actors. The results of the study indicate that the potential of fisheries has not been optimally utilized, indicated by the socio-demographic conditions of fishermen who are full of limitations in fishing, difficult access to credit, limited fishing facilities, suboptimal performance of fisheries institutions, no access to capital for fishermen, minimal investment in fish processing, resulting in fish being widely marketed in fresh form. Fishermen's income is still low due to fluctuations in fish catches, limited fishing facilities, and the undeveloped fish processing business. The development of an environmentally conscious aquaculture creative economy, increasing supervision and quality control of fisheries businesses, developing minapolitan fisheries industrialization and marine resources can increase fishermen's income and the welfare of coastal communities in the utilization of marine and fisheries resources.

Abstract

One of the goals of Indonesia's agricultural development is to realize food security through increasing production yields as well as increasing the income of the main actors (farmers) in agricultural development. This study aims to analyze the differences in production and income of lowland rice farming by farmers who are involved in the agricultural extension partnership program with farmers who are not involved in the partnership program by using different technology packages in North Aceh Regency. Analysis of the data used is the T test of two unrelated samples (Independent Samples T Test). The results of the study showed that there were differences in the production and income of the partner farmers of the agricultural extension program at the research location as much as 7,369.44/Kg/MT/Ha with an income of Rp. 21,352. 800 MT/Ha while the production of non-agricultural extension partners is 6,004.28Kg/MT/Ha with an income of Rp. 13,678,100 MT/Ha. The calculated T value for production is 440, 87 and the T table is 1.993 while the T calculated income is 33,214 and the T table is 1,993. Farmers who are members of the agricultural extension partnership program have higher production and income than non-partner farmers.

Abstract

Coastal resource management based on local wisdom regulates environmental conservation customs for the sustainability of coastal resources in Aceh Province. As direct users of marine resources, fishermen have a key role in maintaining the sustainability of coastal ecosystems. The level of compliance of fishermen in the utilization of coastal resources is very important. Specifically, this study aims to identify problems in coastal area management related to the implementation of customary law in North Aceh Regency and to analyze the level of compliance of fishermen in terms of maintaining the coastal environment based on customary law. This study uses a survey method where the determination of the location is determined purposively (intentionally) in North Aceh Regency. Primary data were obtained from fishermen through structured interviews (questionnaires) involving 80 fishermen while secondary data were obtained from various agencies related to this study. Data were analyzed qualitatively with Likert scale measurements. The results of the study showed that the problems that occurred in the coastal area of North Aceh Regency were dominated by the use of environmentally unfriendly fishing gear, lack of supporting facilities and infrastructure for the activities of the Panglima Laot institution, and low human resources of the Panglima Laot institution apparatus. Based on the analysis of the level of compliance of fishing communities in maintaining the coastal environment, the following are in order: 1) Prohibition on bombing and anesthetizing fish. (2) Not violating the no-go days at sea. (3) Not damaging coral reefs. (4) Not polluting the coastal environment. (5) Not catching protected fish and marine biota. (6) Not damaging/cutting down mangroves.
