Abstract

This research investigates the impact of consumer resentment, brand image perception, social influence, and consumer attitude on the willingness to buy boycott-targeted global brands within Indonesia's food and beverage sector. The analysis captures the post-boycott cool-down period, characterized by declining public emotional intensity alongside unrecovered purchasing levels. Utilizing an online survey of 200 Indonesian Generation Z respondents, data were processed via multiple linear regression using SPSS. Simultaneous testing confirms that all four determinants significantly dictate buying propensity. Individually, however, only social influence exerts a significant effect. These insights demonstrate that interpersonal pressure from the immediate environment serves as the primary driver suppressing consumer buying willingness toward brands linked to international humanitarian crises.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of digital media has opened new possibilities for religious institutions to extend their reach beyond physical boundaries. This study examines how Jogokariyan Mosque in Yogyakarta navigates the digital media landscape as a case of how an Islamic institution engages with digital religion. Using a qualitative case study approach, this paper describes how the mosque has situated itself in the digital media environment while preserving its core religious functions. The study finds that the mosque's engagement with digital media operates as an extension of its physical mission rather than a departure from it. These findings contribute to the broader discourse on how local Islamic institutions position themselves within the evolving digital media ecosystem.

Abstract

The increasing adoption of healthy lifestyles and rising public concern for environmental sustainability have encouraged many companies to apply green marketing strategies. Nevertheless, not all companies are able to maintain environmental commitments consistently, which has led some of them to be accused of greenwashing. This study examines consumers’ interpretations of Le Minerale’s rebranding strategy in response to greenwashing allegations following the launch of its single-use gallon product. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and Stuart Hall’s reception analysis, data were collected through in-depth interviews with six active consumers. The analysis focuses on six dimensions of rebranding: product associations, environmental engagement, healthy lifestyle associations, public figure endorsements, communication of health and purity values, and social media activities. The findings show that consumer reception is influenced by socio-cultural, individual, and situational factors. Most informants occupied dominant-negotiated and negotiated-oppositional positions. The study concludes that Le Minerale’s rebranding has not fully restored consumer trust in its environmental commitment, indicating the need for greater consistency, transparency, and real sustainability practices.

Abstract

The adoption of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools has increasingly become part of Indonesian university students’ academic activities. This study explores the adoption of a generative AI tool among Indonesian university students. Using a quantitative survey approach, data were collected from 150 respondents through an online survey and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to examine patterns in adoption behavior. The findings indicate that students’ adoption of generative AI is strongly connected to how they perceive its practical role in supporting academic work. Students who develop clear intentions to use generative AI tend to translate into adoption in their academic activities. Overall, this study highlights that the adoption of generative AI among Indonesian university students reflects a growing on AI tools as part of everyday learning activities.

Abstract

The presence of recommendation features on Spotify illustrates the dynamic relationship between users’ music choices and the platform’s guidance. Although recommendation features offer certain conveniences to users, they do not always steer users’ music consumption toward accepting the platform’s curated selections. Each user has a subjective interpretation of their experience using recommendation features, shaped by a process of deep and ongoing reflection. This study employs a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach and the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) technique to understand Spotify users’ subjective interpretations of platform-guided music consumption through personalized playlists. The concepts and theories utilized in this study include digital music consumption, platformization, user agency, and Folk Theories of Algorithms. The results of this study indicate that users’ reflection processes regarding recommended playlists are shaped by three main factors: the purpose of using the feature, negative feelings toward recommendations, and users’ algorithmic knowledge. Furthermore, these reflections give rise to a number of strategies employed by Spotify users to manage their personal music consumption within the recommendation ecosystem. These strategies include rejecting specific recommendations, navigating algorithms, and a tendency to prioritize personal playlists as a means of enjoying music in a more directed, personal, and contextual manner.

Abstract

Lapor Semar Solusi AWP is a digital public complaint service under the Department of Communication and Informatics (DISKOMINFO) of Semarang City, formerly known as Sapa Mbak Ita. The rebranding on April 8, 2025 led to decreased awareness, trust, and public participation toward the new identity. This study aims to evaluate the role of Government Public Relations in improving these aspects through the campaign “Cipta Seni Bahana Aspirasi #NgadudiLaporSemar.” The Project Manager is responsible for planning and monitoring the campaign, while the Account Executive handles coordination, stakeholder relations, and content management. The results show increased public awareness, improved trust, and a rise in new users. These findings indicate that structured Government Public Relations strategies are effective in enhancing the use of digital public complaint services.

Abstract

Lapor Semar Solusi AWP is a digital public service managed by the Semarang City Communication, Informatics, Statistics, and Persandian Office (DISKOMINFO). This platform handles public reports regarding infrastructure and government services, while also serving as a hub for citizens to voice their aspirations for the city's development. Before the current Mayor, Agustina Wilujeng Pramestuti, took office, the service operated under various names, including Sapa Mbak Ita and Lapor Hendi. Since rebranding to Lapor Semar Solusi AWP in April 2025, the platform has seen lower user engagement and public awareness levels compared to its previous iterations. To address these challenges, a government public relations approach was implemented using a combination of public service and education campaigns, media relations, paid advertisements, and owned media. The primary objectives of this strategy are to boost public knowledge and strengthen community trust, which are essential for increasing the service's user base. The implementation revealed that paid advertisements were the most effective method for expanding reach and increasing general awareness among Semarang residents. On the other hand, public service and education campaigns proved to be the most successful in building public trust and driving the acquisition of new service users.
