Abstract

The area of mount Seulawah Agam is an area of active volcano paths that impact the appearance of volcanic symptoms, that will affect the species of plants that grow in the area. This study aims to determine the potential of medicinal plant species and their diversity in the geothermal area of Seulawah Agam, Aceh Besar district. The data collection was carried out using multiple square plots placed using stratified sampling based on the soil temperature zone at a predetermined. Each area is set on four impartial actions in systematic random. The name of the species and its individual quantity of each potential plant was documented and analyzed accordingly. Then, they were analyzed based on scientific journals and identification books for medicinal plants. Data analysis was performed using importance value index and Diversity Index. The study found there were 32 species of 21 families of medicinal plants were identified started from the growth rates of seedlings, saplings, poles, and trees. The medicinal plants' diversity index analysis at each growth rate is classified into the medium category. Based on literature studies, plants' parts are commonly used as medicines such as leaves roots, sap, bark, and flowers. Utilization can be used to treat a variety of diseases and illnesses, as well as a parasitic infection. The result shows that the geothermal area of Seulawah Agam in Aceh Besar district has excellent resources and potential for medicinal plants that become used for the benefit of the surrounding community: they need to be maintained so that they still be beneficial for future generations.

Abstract

The Mount Seulawah Agam area is an active volcanic area that has an impact on the emergence of symptoms of volcanism. Such environmental conditions will cause the vegetation that grows in the area to be unique and not commonly found in other areas. Apart from that, the area is still relatively natural and has not experienced much disturbance by human activities. This study aims to determine the composition and similarity of vegetation types in the geothermal area of Mount Seulawah Agam, Aceh Besar District. Data collection in the field was carried out using the multiple square method which was placed in a stratified sampling based on the specified soil temperature zone. Each zone was laid out in 4 square plots in a systematic random manner. Each plant contained in the observation plot is recorded in the name of the plant species using a flora identification book, and the number of individuals of each type is recorded. Data analysis was carried out using the Important Value Index analysis, and the Sorenson Similarity Index. The results showed that there were 65 species from 611 individual plants identified starting from the growth rate of seedlings, sapling, poles, and trees. The similarity index of plant species at each growth stage in the Seulawah Agam geothermal area, Aceh Besar District generally has different species similarity in each observation zone, that is, the average is below 50%. This condition indicates that there are significant differences in plant structure at various growth rates in each zone

Abstract

The recognition of the health risks associated with fungal contamination in water is increasingly important in terms of microbiological safety and water quality. Fungus is one type of microorganism that can cause disease in humans. As cosmopolitan living things, fungi can be found anywhere close to human existence, be it in water, soil, air, or even in the human body. The purpose of this study was to determine the total number of colonies and the characteristics of pathogenic fungi in bathroom water at UIN Ar-Raniry campus public toilet facilities. This study used bathroom water samples taken at 5 different points. Water samples were taken as much as 0.5 ml and then isolated into Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) media using the spread plate method. After 7 days of incubation, the total number of colonies was counted and the identification of the fungi was carried out to determine the macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of the fungi. The results of the study of fungal isolation on PDA media were the total colonies obtained from 5 different locations, namely 60 colonies, 47 colonies, 25 colonies, 29 colonies and 46 colonies. The identification results of 31 pure isolates found species namely Aspergillus sp., Aspergillus niger, A. fumigatus, A. flavus, Penicillium sp., and Mucor sp.

Abstract

Herbaceous plants are closed seed plants (Agiosperms) which are classified as cosmopolite, have high life competitiveness, are not affected by weather and climate so that they are able to live in any habitat. This study aims to identify types of herbaceous plants and analyze the level of diversity. Identification is carried out to find out the names and groupings, while diversity analysis is carried out to find out the number of types or the number of individuals. This research was conducted in the Restoration area of the Soraya Research Station in the Leuser Ecosystem Area in December 2021. The Soraya Research Station Restoration Area is an area to restore the state of the forest that has been damaged to its original condition or almost resembles its original condition, which began in 2019. The research method uses a line transect with a length of 100 m, and sampling is carried out with a 1x1 plot making technique, per 20 m line transect 18 plots are taken. The results of this study found 3431 individuals of herbaceous plants from 40 species and 26 families. Asystasia gangetica species is the most dominant species reaching 585 individuals while the family of Poaceae is the family with the highest number of species, namely 5 species species, with an H'2,743 value categorized with moderate diversity values.

Abstract

Kegiatan praktikum masih kurang pelaksanaannya karena berbagai permasalahan. Praktikum penting dilakukan untuk memperdalam pemahaman materi dan keterampilan proses sains siswa. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk menganalisis respon siswa terhadap kegiatan praktikum pada materi organisasi tingkat sel di SMAN 1 Meukek Kabupaten Aceh Selatan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI IPA yang berjumlah 25 siswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel secara purposive sampling dan pengumpulan data menggunakan angket dan analisis data menggunakan rumus persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukan respon siswa yang positif terhadap praktikum dengan perolehan nilai 84,4% dengan kriteria sangat baik. Kegiatan praktikum pada materi organisasi tingkat sel berdampak terhadap keterampilan proses sains siswa dan motivasi belajar siswa di SMAN 1 Meukek Kabupaten Aceh Selatan

Abstract

Mercury waste from unlicensed gold mining (PETI) is absorbed by the soil, so that the soil contains Mercury (Hg). This will cause environmental pollution. The Hg waste treatment method using the phytoremediation method has been able to bind Hg contained in the soil. However, phytoremediation of Hg waste from tailings soil using vetiver plants (Vetiveria zizanioides L.) has never been specifically studied. This study aims to determine the removal of Hg from soil contaminated with traditional gold mining tailings waste to determine the effect of Hg levels in the soil on the growth of Vetiveria zizanioides L. Vetiveria zizanioides L. plants in the soils that previously had heavy metal Hg as a pollutant with concentration variations of 1.8816 ppm and 1.9113 ppm and harvest variations of 7, 14, and 21 days. The results showed that Vetiveria zizanioides L. can accumulate Hg in the roots, soil, and leaves. The highest Hg accumulation in the roots of all types of concentration variations of 1.8816 ppm and 1.9113 ppm were 1.52 µg/g, 1.52 µg/g and 1.32 µg/g; 1.254 µg/g, 0.6813 µg/g and 0.59 µg/g on stems; while 1.02 µg/g, 0.49 µg/g and 0.04 µg/g on the soil. From the data that has been presented, it can be seen that the sample of Vetiveria zizanioides L. is able and effective in reducing the concentration levels of contaminants contained in tailings waste soil. The results of a simple linear regression test for Hg waste treatment showed that there was an effect of time/day on the decrease in the levels of the test parameters. The results indicate the use of Vetiveria zizanioides L has the potential to be used in the treatment of Hg-contaminated waste soil.

Abstract

Internet of Things dapat digunakan dalam bidang monitoring tanaman hidroponik. Untuk memudahkan pengukuran suhu dan kelembapan udara, suhu air, intensitas cahaya, pH air, dan nilai TDS air, maka penelitian ini mengembangkan alat dengan teknologi IoT untuk memonitoring ke-enam parameter tersebut. Dalam penelitian ini, perancangan perangkat keras (hardware) menggunakan mikrokontroller ESP32 WROOM-32U, sensor DHT22, sensor DS18B20, sensor BH1750, sensor TDS DFRobot, sensor pH4502C. Implementasi alat monitoring digunakan Prodi Biologi Fakultas Sains dan Teknologi UIN Ar- Raniry Banda Aceh. Hasil pengukuran sensor diuji dengan membandingkan dengan alat manual berstandar nasional, untuk hasil akurasi pengukuran dari alat ini adalah baik, yaitu berkisar 94,91% - 99,24%. Dengan masing-masing keakuratan sensor: sensor DHT22 untuk mengukur suhu memiliki akurasi 99,24% sedangkan kelembapan 98,47%, sensor DS18B20 memiliki tingkat akurasi 94,91%, sensor BH1750 memiliki tingkat akurasi 96,31%, sensor TDS memiliki tingkat akurasi 99,51%, dan sensor pH4502C memiliki tingkat akurasi 98,38%.

Abstract

Pusat Penelitian Ketambe terletak di desa Ketambe (KEL) yang merupakan laboratorium alam serta salah satu kawasan pelestarian alam di Indonesia yang kaya akan keanekaragaman hayati. Salah satu tumbuhan yang terdapat yaitu tumbuhan kayu lasun (Dysoxylum alliaceum) yang memiliki zat alelopati. Zat alelopati tersebut secara teori dapat menghambat pertumbuhan, perkembangan serta interaksi (asosiasi) dengan tumbuhan lain. Oleh sebab itu penelitian ini dapat dikaitkan dengan sifat asosiasi dan kekuasan asosiasi yang di lakukan tumbuhan kayu lasun (Dysoxylum alliaceum) dengan tumbuhan di sekitarnya. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui asosiasi tumbuhan kayu lasun (Dysoxylum alliaceum) dengan tumbuhan lain di Pusat Penelitian Ketambe Penelitian ini dilakukan di Pusat Penelitian Ketambe pada bulan Juni 2019. Rancangan penelitian menggunakan metode kuadrat, penentuan stasiun ditentukan secara purvosive sampling yaitu berdasarkan ada atau tidaknya tumbuhan kayu lasun ((Dysoxylum alliaceum) dan pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan cara non-destructive. Pembuatan petak kuadrat berukuran 10 m x 10 m yang diletakkan sesuai arah mata angina, Timur (1 petak kuadrat), Barat (1 petak kuadrat), Selatan (1 petak kuadrat) dan Utara (1 petak kuadrat). Lokasi penelitian di bawah tegakan Kayu Lasun (Dysoxylum alliaceum). Hasil penelitian diperoleh tipe asosiasi tumbuhan di sekitar tumbuhan kayu lasun (Dysoxylum alliaceum) pada seluruh titik pengamatan didapatkan tipe positif dan tipe negatif dengan derajat (kekuatan) asosiasi dalam kategori lemah.

Abstract

Hidroponik merupakan sistem budidaya yang dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan air sebagai media tanam dan larutan nutrisi sebagai nutrisi bagi pertumbuhan tanaman.Tingginya peminat akan sayuran pakcoy setiap tahunnya menjadikan sistem hidroponik NFT (Nutrient Film Technique) sebagai sistem budidaya yang dapat digunakan dalam meningkatkan produksi pakcoy tanpa lahan yang luas. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses budidaya pakcoy menggunakan teknik hidroponik NFT (Nutriens Films Technique).Metode yang digunakanyaitu dengan mengamati 10 sampel secara acak dengan variabel pengamatan tinggi tanaman dan jumlah daun. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan talang dengan kemiringan 5% memberikan respon yang baik bagi pertumbuhan tanaman.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dan konsentrasi terbaik dari pupuk organik cair yang terbuat dari ampas tebu terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman kenanga (Cananga odorata). Penelitian dilakukan di kebun Biologi, Fakultas Sains dan Teknologi UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh dari bulan maret hingga juni 2021. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok. Parameter yang diamati pada penelitian ini adalah Muncul tunas, Jumlah tunas, Jumlah daun dan lebar daun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan pada tumbuhan kenanga dari 15, 30 dan 45 HST. Jumlah Tunas 15 HST 0,4, 30 HST 0,8 dan 45 HST 1; Jumlah daun 15 HST 0,4, 30 HST 0,8, dan 45 HST 1,8; Lebar daun 15 HST 0,6, 30 HST 1,1 dan 45 HST 1,4.
