Abstract

Borax, or sodium tetraborate, is a dangerous chemical compound that is banned from use as a preservative in food due to its potential health risks. Wet or instant noodles are a form of processed food from wheat flour that is widely consumed and favored by various levels of society, especially in school. The addition of borax to wet noodles aims to increase the chewiness and shelf life of the noodles. This study aims to identify the presence of borax in school's snack noodles. Qualitative analysis was used as the research method with purposive sampling technique in three sub-districts, namely Tamalate, Mamajang, and Rappocini sub-districts of Makassar City. The sampling criteria were wet noodles complementing meatball snacks from street vendors in front of the gate of elementary schools, and 15 noodle samples were obtained. Qualitative analysis was carried out by organoleptic test and color change of filter paper that had been soaked in curcumin extract from turmeric. The results showed that the wet noodle samples were pale yellow to bright yellow in color with a maximum shelf life of 24 hours. The test results with turmenic paper showed no color change, so it was concluded that all noodle samples did not contain borax.

Abstract

Pelatihan pembuatan mikromodul berbasis Discovery Learning bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam mengembangkan materi ajar yang inovatif, menarik, dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan peserta didik. Pelatihan ini menerapkan model Discovery Learning yang mendorong peserta didik untuk belajar secara aktif melalui proses penemuan dan pemecahan masalah. Selain itu, pemanfaatan teknologi mikromodul digunakan untuk menyajikan materi pembelajaran secara ringkas, sistematis, dan mudah diakses. Peserta kegiatan ini berjumlah 30 orang guru IPA yang tergabung dalam MGMP IPA Kabupaten Maros. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pelatihan ini adalah Participatory Action Research (PAR), yang meliputi tahapan penyampaian materi dan sesi tanya jawab, pendampingan praktik langsung pembuatan mikromodul menggunakan platform Canva, serta kegiatan evaluasi untuk mengukur efektivitas pelatihan. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan skor rata-rata peserta dari 40,34 pada pretest menjadi 62 pada posttest, dengan persentase kenaikan sekitar 53,69%. Peningkatan tersebut menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan memberikan dampak signifikan terhadap pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam menyusun mikromodul berbasis Discovery Learning. Guru menjadi lebih mampu mengintegrasikan teknologi dalam pembelajaran serta menghasilkan bahan ajar yang relevan dengan karakteristik peserta didik. Dengan demikian, kegiatan pelatihan ini berkontribusi pada peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran IPA di Kabupaten Maros.

Abstract

21st century science education must be able to foster critical and reflective scientific literacy through transformative learning. This research aims to synthesize, analyze and evaluate the state of the art from empirical research related to the application of transformative learning in science education. The research method used was a Systematic Literature Review following PRISMA guidelines for 15 selected articles. The research results reveal that the disorienting dilemma triggered by the theory-practice gap, socio-scientific issues, and visceral experiences in the wild are the main catalysts for transformation. The process of critical reflection plays an important role in bridging epistemological beliefs with field realities, which results in deep changes in self-identity, global perspective, and self-empowerment in environmental action. The results of the literature analysis show that transformative learning has succeeded in shifting the science education paradigm from simply memorizing concepts to developing critical and reflective scientific literacy. This is essential for forming students into independent individuals who are socially responsible for global issues such as climate change and sustainability.

Abstract

Abstract: This activity aims to provide training and assistance in preparing the Assessment for the Strengthening Pancasila Student Profile (P5) Project, especially for science teachers in Bulukumba Regency. P5 assessment is an important part of implementing the independent curriculum in schools. The large number of schools that have just implemented the independent curriculum is the background for the importance of carrying out these activities. The methods applied in this activity are presentation and discussion methods. Evaluation of the implementation of this service is carried out using observation techniques and providing response questionnaires. Training on preparing the Assessment for the Strengthening Pancasila Student Profile (P5) Project in Bulukumba Regency was carried out well and smoothly. The training participants consisted of 63 people from various middle and high schools in Bulukumba Regency. Participants were very enthusiastic in this activity. The preparation of the P5 assessment concentrates on the theme of a sustainable lifestyle. This is because this theme has a direct connection with science material. After this activity, participants were given an evaluation and it was discovered that participants' understanding of the P5 assessment, especially the theme of sustainable lifestyle, was very high. The implementation of the independent curriculum, especially P5, still faces many challenges. This still needs to be paid attention to by the government, schools and other related parties. Abstrak: Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan dan pendampingan penyusunan Asesmen Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5) khususnya bagi guru-guru IPA di Kabupaten Bulukumba. Asesmen P5 merupakan bagian penting pada pelaksanaan kurikulum merdeka di sekolah. Banyaknya sekolah yang baru menerapkan kurikulum merdeka menjadi latar belakang pentingnya kegiatan dilakukan. Metode yang diterapkan dalam kegiatan ini adalah metode presentasi dan diskusi. Evaluasi pelaksanaan pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan teknik observasi dan pemberian angket respon. Pelatihan penyusunan Asesmen Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5) di Kabupaten Bulukumba terlaksana dengan baik dan lancar. Peserta pelatihan  terdiri  dari  63  orang  dari  berbagai sekolah SMP dan SMA di Kabupaten Bulukumba. Peserta sangat antusias dalam kegiatan ini. Penyusunan asesmen P5 berkonsentrasi pada tema gaya hidup berkelanjutan. Hal ini disebabkan karena tema ini beririsan langsung dengan materi IPA. Setelah kegiatan ini, peserta diberikan evaluasi dan diketahui bahwa pemahaman peserta terhadap asesmen P5 khususnya tema gaya hidup berkelanjutan sangat tinggi. Pelaksanaan kurikulum merdeka khususnya P5 masih mendapatkan banyak tantangan. Hal ini masih perlu menjadi perhatian oleh pemerinta, sekolah dan pihak-pihak lain yang terkait.
