Abstract

Macrozoobenthos is a group of important fauna in mangrove ecosystem. Mangrove rehabilitation is required toincrease biodiversity and density of fauna, including macrozoobenthos. The aim of this research was to studyinfluence of biotic and abiotic factors to diversity and abundance of macrozoobenthos. The research was conductedat natural and rehabilitated mangrove forest in Percut Sei Tuan, east coastal of North Sumatra. The results showedthat density of macrozoobenthos were significantly correlated to the soil texture, soil organic carbon and pH.Besides, macrozoobenthos diversity was mostly influenced by stand basal area, salinity and silt proportion of soiltexture.

Abstract

The purpose of the study to determine the distribution and growth patterns ofindo pacific tarpon fish (Megalops cyprinoides Broussonet, 1782) in Belawan River.This study was conducted in January-March 2014. Sampling was collected by purpo-sive sampling method. Sampling colected at 3 stations fishnet use with 30 times thestocking for each month. Distribution is calculated using the formula Khouw (2009)and the growth patterns using formulas King (1995). The results showed the analysisof Indo Pacific tarpon fish distribution uniform categorized months as earned valueid <1. Growth pattern of indo pacific tarpon fish is negative allometric means thelength faster than weight gain.

Abstract

Research about comparative study of food types of fish Keperas (P. binotatus) inthe river of Aek Pahu Tombak, Aek Pahu Hutamosu and river of Parbotikan DistrictBatang Toru that have aim to determine the types of food in fish and feeding habit ofPuntius binotatus. The research was occured in the river of Aek Pahu Tombak, AekPahu Hutamosu dan river of Parbotikan District Batang Toru in January-March2013.The method of fishing is used by elektrofising gear 12 volt. The analysis of dataincludes the relationship of fish length and weight, condition factor, bulk index (IndexPropenderance), the index of food options, wider food niche, and niche overlap of food.The result showed that fish keperas (P. binotatus) eat 6 groups of organisms that arepresent in all research station, types of Bacillariophyceae is the main food,Chlorophyceae, Monogononta, Ciliophora, and detritus as a supplement food, andCyanophyceae as additives food.

Abstract

Research about content of heavy metals in various fish species have been done inBatang Toru River, Aek Pahu Tombak and Aek Pahu Hutamosu district South Tapanuliin March-April 2013. The purpose of this study was to determine the content of heavymetals that accumulate in the body of fish and the water, and to determine the waterquality of River Batang Toru, Aek Pahu Tombak and Aek Pahu Hutamosu. The methodfor determining the location of sampling for fish sample is "Purposive RandomSampling" in 6 (six) observation stations. Analysis of heavy metal analyzed on fishmeat and water using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometric (AAS). The resultsshowed that the content of heavy metal in fish body didn’t exceeded the qualitystandard by SNI/7387/2009. Content of heavy metals accumulated in the water didn’texceeded the quality standard based on Regulation No.82 of 2001. Aek Pahu TombakRiver has a very good quality of water but Batang Toru River and Aek Pahu Hutamosuhave a good quality of water.

Abstract

Density and growth pattern mangrove clam Geloina erosa (Solander 1786) inmangrove ecosystem Belawan, has been investigated in December 2013 - February2014. G erosa samples taken from three observation stations and each station observa-tions were made 3 replicates (months) sampling. The method used in determining thesampling point is the "purposive sampling". G. erosa samples were collected directlyby capturing by hand at the lowest tide. Result of the analysis data was the highestdensity of G. erosa at station 1 Nypah fruticants vegetation average of 3.207 individ-uals/m 2 , the lowest Heterogeneous vegetation at station 2 average of 1.362 individuals/m 2 . Allometric growth patterns show a pattern of negative (b <3).

Abstract

The aims of this study were to determine density and distribution pattern of ki-jing (G. virens) in Belawan Mangrove Ecosystem. Sample were collected with a smallsquares 1x1 m 2 as much as 45 with interval 1 m. The results of this study showed thehighest value of the density was found in station III 2.93 Ind /m 2 , while at the station I2.80 Ind / m 2 . The lowest one was found in station II 1.16 Ind / m 2 . Distribution patternof Kijing on station I and II was uniform with id value 0.645 and 0.958, on the contra-vy on station III was clumped with id value 1.421.

Abstract

Penelitian ini tentang keanekaragaman makrozoobentos dan hubungannya dengan penutupan padang lamun di perairan Natal Mandailing Natal Sumatera Utara, telah dilakukan pada bulan Mei-Juni 2016. Lokasi Penelitian di tetapkan sebanyak 4 stasiun dengan metode purposive sampling menggunakan transek kuadrat 1x1 m sebanyak 5 kali ulangan. Penelitian ini ditemukan 4 spesies lamun yaitu Enhalus acoroides, Halophila ovalis, Cymodecea rotundata, Halodule pinifolia dengan persentase tutupan lamun pada stasiun I (47%), stasiun II (29%), stasiun III (76,6%), dan stasiun IV (83,8%). Makrozoobentos yang ditemukan ada 16 spesies yang dikelompokkan menjadi 7 kelas yaitu Gastropoda, Bivalvia, Echinoidea, Holothuroidea, Malacostraca, Amphineura, Anthozoa. Nilai kepadatan tertinggi diperoleh dari kelas Bivalvia pada stasiun I spesies Anadara Inaequivalvalis sebesar 1,2 ind/m2. Hasil analisis menunjukkan tingkat keanekaragaman tergolong sedang. Hasil analisis korelasi Person antara keanekaragaman makrozoobentos dengan tutupan lamun bernilai -0,949 ini berarti hubungan antara tutupan lamun dengan keanekaragaman makrozoobentos di kawasan perairan Natal kuat berlawanan arah. Tingginya persentase tutupan lamun tidak selalu diikuti oleh tingginya keanekaragaman makrozoobentos dikawasan tersebut. Kata kunci: persentase tutupan lamun, makrozoobentos, Mandailing Natal

Abstract

Ikan Gulamah (Johnius trachycephalus) merupakan salah satu jenis ikan demersal yang banyak ditangkap oleh nelayan dengan menggunakan trammel net dan gill net, payang dan pukat. Penangkapan  ikan Gulamah di sungai Barumun Kabupaten Labuhan Batu dilakukan setiap hari tanpa batas. Eksploitasi yang tidak terkendalikan dapat mengakibatkan menipisnya stok ikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kepadatan populasi, rasio kelamin, pola pertumbuhan ikan dan hubungan faktor fisik- kimia air dengan kepadatan ikan gulamah (Johnius trachycephalus) di sungai Barumun Kabupaten Labuhan Batu. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode purposive sampling pada 5 stasiun penelitian. Pengambilan sampel ikan dilakukan dengan memasang jaring sebanyak 5 ulangan pada masing-masing stasiun dan pada setiap ulangan jaring dibiarkan 1 jam di dalam air. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepadatan ikan Gulamah tertinggi di stasiun I yaitu 0,019 ind/m2 (37 ekor), terendah di stasiun V yaitu 0,003 ind/m2 (6 ekor). Rasio kelamin tertinggi di stasiun IV yaitu 1:8 dan terendah di stasiun I yaitu 1:1,5. Pola pertumbuhan ikan gulamah di stasiun I allometrik positif sedangkan di stasiun II-V allometrik negatif. Ikan gulamah yang didapatkan selama penelitian sebanyak 68 individu. Ikan jantan panjangnya berkisar 10,5 cm - 21,5 cm, ikan betina panjangnya 10,5 cm – 21,6 cm. Frekuensi panjang yang terbanyak (modus) 18,5 cm – 20 cm. Suhu dan kejenuhan oksigen berkolerasi sangat kuat terhadap kepadatan ikan gulamah (Johnius trachycephalus). Kata kunci : ikan Gulamah, struktur populasi, sungai Barumun

Abstract

Mangrove litter has been decomposed contributes organic matter as food source for many organism and also to give fertility in the mangrove ecosystem. The purpose of this research were to measure the decompotion rate and to know the nutrient of carbon (C), nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) contained in the leaf litter of R. apiculata at the various levels of salinity. This research was done at Kampung Nypa Desa Sei Nagalawan Perbaungan, North Sumatera Province from August 2015 until January 2016 with used 50 grams of leaf litter. This research for decomposition rate of R. apiculata used Olson method. Nutrient analysis of carbon was conducted using Walkey & Black method, analysis of nitrogen and phosphorus nutrients was conducted using the extraction of wet destruction. The results showed the fastest weight loss and the rate of decomposition of  R. apiculata leaf litter was at 0-10 ppt. The highest of levels of carbon nutrients was in 10-20 ppt, the highest of levels nitrogen and phosphorus nutrients was at 0-10 ppt Keywords: Decomposition rate, nutrient, leaf litter, R. apiculata, salinity.

Abstract

Primary Productivity is the formation process of organic compounds through photosynthesis. This research aimed to know primary productivity based on the concentration of chlorophyll-a, phytoplankton identification and it’s abundance at the estuarine of Kecamatan Talawi Kabupaten Batu Bara. The water sampling is conducted three times in two weeks interval during April until Mei 2014. From the observation is known first station’s estuary classified as Well-mixed estuary is the estuary that completely mixed, second station’s estuary as Salt wedge estuary is the estuary that has weak mixing. The research results that there are 5 classes 17 families and 25 species of phytoplankton. The highest species abundance is 1073,889 ind/l found at third station, and the highest abundance species is Skeletonema sp. The highest chlorophyll-a value is 0,89 mg/m3 was found at third station.Keywords: productivity, chlorophyll-a, phytoplankton, Skeletonema sp., estuarine, Kecamatan Talawi.
