Abstract

The Mangrove Crabs population is typically associated with good Mangrove forest, so habitat loss will have a serious impact on the Crabpopulation. One of the areas of Mangrove Crab catching in nature is theMangrove Area Waters of Jaring Halus Village. The purpose of this research was to know the relationship between the width of the carapace and the weight of theMangrove Crab (Scylla spp.) in Mangrove Waters of Jaring Halus Village,Langkat Regency, North Sumatera. This research was conducted in December 2016 - January 2017 with 3 catching stations using Bubu fishing equipment of 45 units. The catch was analyzed by simple linear regression W = a Lb. The number of Mangrove Crabs caught 178 heads consisting of 93 males and 85 females with sex ratio between male and female is 1 : 0,91. The carapace's width of caughtCaps ranged from 41 to 96 mm where the male carapace's width ranged from 41 - 90 mm, while the females ranged from 41 - 96 mm. Heavy Crab Mangrove  that caught ranged from 30-540 mm where the males ranged from 30 - 370 grams while the female 30-540 grams. Growth of male and female mangrove crabs is positive allometric (b > 3) which means more dominant weight accretion compared to long accretion. Keywords: Jaring Halus Village, Mangrove, Scylla spp.

Abstract

Tor soro is an endemic species of freshwater fish in North Sumatera. Year by year the population of Tor soro tend to decrease. Currently,Torsorohashadtechnologyofdomestication. In order to support the success of breeding of Tor soro, information on the gonad development is urgently needed. Oocyte diameter and biochemistry of blood plasma of eight young females was carried out every month during a year (April 2009-March 2010). The estradiol-17p concentration was high received in July (0.9±0.8 ng ml'1), then decreased drastically in August (0.20±0.16 ng ml'1) and again increased until achieving the highest concentration in March. The highest of the estradiol-17p concentration correspond the peak of vitellogenesis towards the maturation. Biochemistry of blood plasma low in June as follow protein total 3.9±0.359 g dl-1; cholesterol 0.13±0.014 g dl-1; triglyceride 0.1±0.021 g dl-1 occurred at the time of the maximum size oocyte development. Concentration of low glucose existed in September (0.04±0.019 g dl-1) when the fish ovulated, this condition increased gradually up to optimal in February (0.12±0.003 g dl-1).Meanwhile optimal ovarian maturity occurred in June and September.

Abstract

Laut Tawar Lake is located in Aceh Tengah District is the largest lake in Aceh Province. The lake, located at an altitude of 1230 meters above sea level, produces about 13 species of freshwater fish. Fish depik (Rasbora tawarensis), eyas (Rasbora sp.), and relo (Rasbora sp.) are endemic species of Laut Tawar Lake. This study aims to estimate the potential of fish production based on the value of morphoedaphic index. The observation was conducted for one year, from October 2016 until September 2017. The measurement of electric conductivity value of lake waters was conducted on 7 (seven) stations selected purposively in the lake area about 5870 hectares. The results showed that morphoedaphic index value of Laut Tawar Lake ranged from 5.10 to 7.84 with an average of 6.14. Potential of fish production in the lake is 33.47 kg/ha/yr with total potential of fish production of 196.49 ton/yr. The value shows a decrease of 10.93 kg/ha/yr over a period of 22 years. This decrease is caused by changes in morphometry parameters and water quality of Laut Tawar Lake.
