Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACTMental demand dominated more than physical demand in the development of technology. Collaboration between cyber and automatic technology in the era of Industry 4.0 required worker to interact with computers to handle their job. Visual Display Terminal (VDT) has been used in the Central Control Room of one of the cement industries in Indonesia. CCR operators work in particular room and are responsible for supervising, monitoring, operating machinery and equipment, communicating deviations and writing a logbook of operating quantities every hour. This job requires a high level of alertness. Therefore, measuring mental workload, work stress, work fatigue, and situation awareness is necessary. The relationship between variables was tested using path analysis. The results showed that mental workload and work stress positively correlate with fatigue. Mental workload has a positive relationship with situation awareness. Job stress and work fatigue do not have a positive relationship to situation awareness. Install and activate a signal or alarm to indicate the critical phase of the operator were recommended to increase situation awareness.

Abstract

Quality is one of the important things that consumers consider in choosing the productthey will use. The high level mismatch of gallon wall thickness that occurred as of December 2017 tomeet the specifications reached 80,87% at point A0; 0,007% at point A1; 91,6% at point A2; 2,39%at point A3; 98,4% at point A4; 92,03% at point C0; 10,35% at point C1; 36,65% at point C2;30,67% at point C3; and 96,81% at point C4. So quality must be maintained as an effort to attract theattentionof consumers and consumer interest in using gallons from this plastic packaging industry. Toanalyze the quality of gallons used the SPC approach and process capability analysis. After analyzingthe process production of gallon through the SPC approach using the I-MR control chart there arestill many points out of control at any point observation that isA0, A1, A2, A3, A4, C0, C1, C2, C3,and C4. Process capability analysis also shows that there is a process that is said to be improper (Cp<1,00) must be repaired even though the process is perfect and unable to meet the specified thicknessspecifications (Cpk <1,00) indicates the accuracy of the process is less which means it needs to bedone improvement by find the root cause of the problem.

Abstract

Abstract – A packaging industry in Surabaya is engaged in the production of plastic packaging.Based on 2018 data, there is a product that has the largest percentage of defects, namely PT004cover Eva Mulia (12.7%). Primary ex treatment is the most dominant problem among other disabilitycategories with a percentage of 43%. The purpose of this study is to know and identify the factors thatcause the many defects in the primary ex treatment category and determine alternative improvementpolicies that can reduce the rate of occurrence of primary Ex treatment defects. The Six SigmaDMAIC approach (Define, Measure, Analysis, Improve, Control) is done to overcome this problem.3.35 sigma was obtained from the DPMO calculation in the measure phase and from making a pchart type control chart known that the production process is not statistically controlled. From theanalysis of the causes of the problem using FTA (Fault Tree Analysis), there were 4 factors thatcaused the primary ex treatment defect, the non-sterile environment, there was no standard forprimary administration, the primary material was volatile in the open air, and the primary andprinting processes were carried out separately . As well as handling problems using FMEA (FailureMode and Effect Analysis) and several alternative policy improvements, namely determining the rightdose for the primary and ink mixture, combining the primary giving process and printing process, adding the primer is done together with weighing ink, mixing the primer with ink printing at the sametime in a sterile place, and make a work instruction. The results of the 15-day improvement resultedin a value of 3.8 sigma.

Abstract

Introduction: Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) is a collection of symptoms or complaints experienced by occupants of modern buildings that are felt by a person when working or doing activities inside the building and disappear when leaving the building. This study was conducted on employees in the office area of a fabrication company. This study aims to determine what factors can influence the emergence of sick building syndrome complaints. Methods: This study used a quantitative approach by collecting data from SBS questionnaires, PSS-10 questionnaires for work stress, lighting measurements, and secondary data from companies from 70 employees. The effect was tested using binary logistic regression. The variables studied included work mass, smoking habits, lighting, and work stress. Results: The results of the SBS questionnaire showed that 70% of workers (49 people) experienced SBS symptoms, such as fatigue, drowsiness, and nasal congestion. The factors that influenced this study were smoking habits (p-value = 0.004), lighting (p-value = 0.026), and work stress (p-value = 0.003). Recommendations that can be implemented include adjusting the type of lighting, implementing standard operating procedures regarding smoking bans, implementing a peer support group smoking cessation program, and providing employee suggestion boxes. Conclusion: This study concludes that smoking habits, substandard lighting, and work stress significantly affect Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) symptoms among office workers at fabrication companies. Its implications point to the need for improvements in the work environment to create a healthy and productive workplace.

Abstract

Unsafe worker behavior remains a prevalent issue leading to workplace accidents, particularly within companies specializing in services for head truck operations, maintenance, and lifting equipment. This study aims to enhance worker safety behaviors through proactive interventions utilizing behavioral observation and intervention (BO&I). Additionally, trend analysis is employed to predict the impact of interventions on worker safety behaviors. Mechanical workers involved in lifting and transport equipment operations are surveyed as respondents. The findings reveal a notable increase in the percentage of safe behaviors post-intervention compared to pre-intervention levels. Moreover, disparities in worker safety behaviors between pre- and post-intervention stages are identified, particularly in work stages associated with a high frequency of accidents. Trend analysis forecasts that the maximum percentage of safe worker behavior will be observed at the 91st intervention. Furthermore, binary logistic regression analysis indicates that variables such as age, tenure, utilization of personal protective equipment (PPE), and education significantly influence worker behaviors.
