Abstract

Patients with Severe Mental Disorders (PSMD) "Pasung" require long-term care, which causes a financial burden on the family. The Indonesian government has guaranteed funding for the treatment. However, there are still PSMDs who do not make regular visits to health services. This study aimed to describe the Relationship between National Health Insurance Ownership and Compliance with Access to Health Services for PSMDin Blitar Regency, Indonesia. This study used an analytic observational design with a retrospective cohort study approach. Total sampling techniques selected 50 PSMD "pasung" recorded health insurance and several visits to primary health services. The data was obtained from the primary health services reporting records from January to March 2020. This study used the biserial point correlation (CI: 99%) test for analyzing data. This study has ethical clearance approval. The results showed that there was a positive relationship between ownership of NHI and compliance with access to health services (t-obs (3,491) ≥ critical (2,678); p-value = 0,001; r-bis = 0,450; α = 0,01). Indonesia has guaranteed the cost of PSMD treatment with shackles, but patients and families who use these facilities are not optimal. In conclusion, national health insurance ownership is related to compliance with access to health services for PSMD "Pasung". Health agencies can pay attention to policy-making for enhancing access to health services of PSMD "Pasung".

Abstract

The problem that is often faced by people with bipolar disorder is that they cannot control the emotions and feelings they feel because they do not know the cause and also how to cope or respond when patients experience both episodes. The purpose of this study is to identify problems associated with predisposing and precipitation factors in order to get the right diagnosis. The research design used in this study is a case study. Predisposing factors include biological factors, loss of objects, personality, learning, and behavior. Precipitation factors in patients include loss, life events, roles, and physiology. Diagnosis The problem is based on complaints experienced by patients and those closest to them, anxiety and low self-esteem. The intervention that has been done by researchers to patients or participants for several weeks the patient is quite independent. Efforts can be made to improve the health quality of patients themselves by providing psychoeducation and nursing interventions. Humans are a denial of depression, individuals who experience mania are dominated by id with few manifestations of the super ego until the individual experiences a cycle back to the normal state or depressive phase of bipolar disorder.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transition period from childhood to adulthood. The post-Covid-19 pandemic has brought significant changes to the lifestyle of adolescents in Indonesia, especially in the use of social media. New habits of adolescents include playing online games and communicating through social media. This study aimed to identify emotional and mental problems in adolescents amidst the massive use of social media among adolescents. The design of this study was cross-sectional. The participants involved were 417 junior high school students aged (12-15) years. SDQ was used to identify students' emotional mentality. Participants who filled out the SDQ were 45.3% female and 54.7% male students with an average age of 13.64 years; ±0.17. Almost all students use social media, such as WhatsApp (98.8%), TikTok (92.6%), and Instagram (79.1%). Emotional problems (22.1%), conduct problems (62.4%), peer problems (27.3%), and hyperactivity (9.6%) showed abnormal categories. This finding aligns with the abnormal prosocial ability of (54.4%). Overall, participants in the normal category were 32.4%. The screening results showed that the emotional and mental well-being of junior high school adolescents was quite concerning and required follow-up to improve students' prosocial abilities. Assessments with other instruments are needed for comparison.

Abstract

Introduction: This study aimed to translate and validate the Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (SEQ-C) and its subscale for Indonesian adolescents, which has potential implications for bullying prevention. Methods: Cross-cultural adaptation was carried out using the Beaton guidelines. An assessment of psychometric testing was carried out during January and February 2024. The eligibility criteria for participants were students aged 13 to 15. Students who declined to participate were excluded. The research involved 120 children. Testing the questionnaire's structural factors used Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). IBM SPSS 25 and AMOS 29 were used for the analysis. Results: Following the criteria established for CFA, two items (ASE10 and SSE18) were eliminated due to their low factor loadings. This resulted in a refined SEQ-C structure of 22 items distributed across three factors. The alpha reliability coefficients showed robust internal consistency for the entire scale at first test and retest (α=0.884; α =0.911) and for each of the three subscales (all >0.80). The model fit indices indicated satisfactory values for the Comparative Fit Index (CFI)=0.906; Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA)=0.063; and the Minimum Discrepancy Function by Degrees of Freedom divided (CMIN/DF)=1.474). Conclusion: The SEQ-C emerges as a trustworthy and valid tool for evaluating self-efficacy across three key components: intellectual, social, and emotional. It can assess adolescent self-efficacy for research, education, and nursing interventions, as part of enhancing the life skills of adolescents.

Abstract

The community health center in Jember Regency has not been optimal in overcoming mental disorders in the community, causing increasingly complex mental health problems and impacting not only individuals but families and society itself. The family approach using self-help group (SHG) therapy is one way to be able to provide treatment for Person With Mental Illness (PWMI). The role of mental nurses is to explore mental health problems in PWMI and psychosocial problems in families with PWMI by giving SHG therapy. This study aimed to analyze the effect of self-help groups on the family's ability to care for PWMI. This study uses a pre-experimental design approach with a one-shot case study method. The measuring instruments used were self-help group SOP, PWMI daily living activity observation sheets, and a questionnaire on the family's ability to care for PWMI. The SHG will be held for four sessions involving PWMI, families, and the person in charge of mental health programs at the community health center. The results showed a significant increase in the family's cognitive abilities before and after getting a self-help group with a P-value of 0.040. and a significant increase in psychomotor abilities with a P-value of 0.043. It is hoped that nurses can form SHG to improve PWMI care in the community

Abstract

Background: Assessing empathy in adolescents is essential for developing effective school bullying prevention programs. However, no validated instrument for evaluating empathy in Indonesian adolescents was previously available. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Indonesian version of the EmQue-CA and its subscales, providing a tool for assessing empathy in adolescents in Indonesia. Methods: Psychometric testing was conducted in January and February 2024 following the translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the EmQue-CA into Indonesian. A total of 140 junior high school students aged 13 to 15 were selected through multistage sampling. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was performed to determine the factor structure, while reliability was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha and test-retest reliability. Results: EFA supported a three-factor structure—affective empathy (3 items), cognitive empathy (3 items), and intention to comfort (4 items)—consisting of 10 items in total, which accounted for 65.97% of the variance. The instrument showed strong internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.96) and excellent test-retest reliability (r = 0.96, 95% CI: 0.94–0.97). Conclusion: The 10-item Indonesian version of the EmQue-CA is a valid and reliable tool for assessing empathy in adolescents. It can be used by school nurses, healthcare professionals, and educators to support the development of empathy-based interventions in school settings.

Abstract

Introduction: Indonesia has several institutions, policies, and laws to protect children from all forms of violence, including bullying that impacts physical, psychological, and social health and even death. However, the number of cases of bullying in adolescents still increases. It is related to a lack of knowledge about bullying and is associated with norms in the community. Method: The analysis uses a discourse analysis approach, "What's the problem represented to be". This method analyzes how the problem of bullying among adolescents is formed, and the forms of bullying prevention are represented in state documents. The analysis steps include: collecting the policy documents related to child protection and health (seven laws and three national policies); Reading the policy text as a whole; rereading the text and underlining the concepts; doing coding and theme analysis; and answering the question. Results: Three main problems of bullying in adolescents that can be identified include: Theme 1. Terminology of children and adolescents; Theme 2. Children are a vulnerable and disempowered group; Theme 3. Agreement and clarity on child protection related to violence, especially bullying, with perpetrators and victims being children. Conclusions: Laws and policies have a crucial role in constructing and representing the problem of adolescent bullying in Indonesia. Nurses can use these results to develop adolescent bullying prevention programs through firmness and alignment with policies and legislation.

Abstract

Introduction: Middle adolescents are closer to their peers as part of their search for identity, so they are easily influenced by social trends, including the use of social media. High intensity of use can trigger fear of missing out (FoMO). FoMO encourages negative social comparisons that lead to decreased self-esteem, especially when adolescents feel that their lives are less ideal than others. This has an impact on the mental health, self-confidence, and social relations of adolescents. This study aims to determine the relationship between FoMO and self-esteem in middle adolescents at Senior High School 2 of Jember. Method: This research uses a correlational quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used was total sampling, totaling 1083 students. The instruments used were the FoMOs questionnaire and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES). Data were analyzed univariately and bivariately with the Kendall Tau-c correlation test. Results: Bivariate analysis shows the value of ρ = 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant relationship between fear of missing out (FoMO) and self-esteem in middle adolescents at Senior High School 2 of Jember with a negative correlation direction. Conclusions: FoMO triggers a decrease in self-esteem in middle adolescents through upward social comparison of ideal content on social media. The important role of families, schools, and health workers, especially nurses, in helping teenagers manage stress due to FoMO, strengthen self-regulation, and increase self-esteem through digital education and emotional support.
