Abstract

The use of social media platforms has become increasingly integrated into students' everyday lives as technology advances, particularly with the rise of remote learning and digital connectivity. Despite these rapid adoptions, digital literacy challenges remain, including finding, evaluating, utilising, sharing, and creating content responsibly. This study examines how social media platforms shape students' minds and underscore the importance of digital literacy skills as a result of their experiences and perceptions of these platforms. Using a qualitative research approach, the study conducted a systematic review of data collected from students in Indonesia. The data were then analyzed and integrated to identify patterns, trends, and common themes across the literature. The analysis revealed several themes, including popular features of social media, learning advantages, the role of adults, and the importance of safe social media use. The findings highlight the critical role of digital literacy in enabling students to navigate social media platforms effectively. This study provides valuable insights for educators, policymakers, and parents on adopting and implementing social media platforms while fostering appropriate digital literacy skills among students.

Abstract

Moral education is in high demand in Indonesia due to the country's increasing moral degradation. This is a qualitative study that seeks to discover scaffolding strategies used by teachers in fostering moral literacy among children through the use of image reflection media and the discovery of students' experiences revealed by children's reflections. This study included ten elementary school students from Central Java, Indonesia. Researchers used semi-structured interviews and observations to supplement research data. These were carried out in order to intermingle steps in seeking the full version participants' answers to the research questions. This study employed thematic analysis to analyze the data. The analysis was carried out in order to identify and analyze the data's repeated patterns. Despite its flaws, the research subjects were enthusiastic about using the image reflection method to promote moral literacy in early childhood. This method is expected to be used as an alternative measure in moral education, particularly at the elementary school level. Empirically, the study shows how teachers implemented the process of instilling moral values and provides examples of students' authentic voices obtained through their narratives.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the enhancement of student learning outcomes by employing a practicum-based inquiry learning model focusing on temperature and heat. This classroom action research was conducted involving 36 students in grade XI at SMAN 2 Lembang 2022-2023 school year. The instruments consist of tests, questionnaires, and observations were utilized for data collection. Data analysis involved calculating the mean scores for affective, psychomotor, and cognitive domains, along with the percentage of students meeting or surpassing the KKM. Findings revealed improvements in learning outcomes across all domains throughout the pre-cycle, cycle 1, and cycle 2. Furthermore, the percentage of students achieving above the KKM in the cognitive domain, increased from the pre-cycle by 66%, in cycle 1 by 77%, and in cycle 2 by 92%. The teaching and learning implementation scores for cycles 1 and 2 were 3.0 and 3.3 respectively, both of which fall into the high category.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between critical thinking and scientific argumentation in the context of science learning. This research method is a systematic literature review of articles published between 2012 and 2022 and indexed in Scopus at least Quartile 2 (Q2), so the quality of the articles is high. This research found 17,800 articles in the search results for related articles published in the last decade, but only 11 met the criteria. Findings from the literature review indicate an interdependent relationship between critical thinking and scientific argumentation, and both make significant contributions to science learning. Other information obtained from this research is that there are several methods for training and developing critical thinking and scientific argumentation in science learning: argument maps and concept maps, essential reading activities, argumentative texts or discourse, discussion activities, analytical questions, learning technology, and specific learning strategies. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that critical thinking and scientific argumentation are interconnected skills and contribute to learning. The complexity of the relationship between critical thinking and scientific argumentation in science learning can encourage deeper learning and understanding of concepts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze bibliometric mapping of research on self-efficacy and digital competence in Scopus-indexed journals published between 2015 and 2025. The dataset was retrieved from the Scopus database in March 2025 using the query “keywords” with a filter for elementary school, covering a time span of 2015–2025. After screening, a total of 127 documents were included. Bibliometric data were processed using Microsoft Excel and VOS Viewer version 1.6.20 with parameters set at a minimum of five keyword occurrences and full counting method. The annual distribution of publications shows an increasing trend in recent years, reflecting growing academic attention to the topic. Analysis by country indicates that Spain and Germany are the most productive contributors, with active collaboration networks identified at regional and institutional levels. Co-authorship analysis confirms the presence of collaborative research, though large-scale international collaboration remains limited. Document type analysis shows that most outputs are journal articles, followed by conference papers. Keyword co-occurrence mapping highlights “self-efficacy,” “human,” and “digital competence” as the most frequently used terms. Less explored but emerging themes include “digital technology,” “human experimental,” and “questionnaire,” suggesting potential research gaps. Overall, the findings indicate that while research on self-efficacy in students’ digital competence is expanding, opportunities remain for broader international collaboration and exploration of underrepresented themes in 21st century educational practices.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and validate a Canva-driven interactive website designed to enhance student engagement in fourth-grade Science and Social Studies (IPAS) learning, specifically on the topic of Energy Transformation. Employing the Research and Development (R&D) method with the systematic ADDIE model, the research was conducted at SD N Karanganyar, Gunungkidul, involving a classroom teacher and 19 students. Data collection included expert validation, student and teacher questionnaires, and field trials to evaluate the media’s feasibility and impact on learning involvement. The developed interactive website integrates contextual illustrations, animations, and embedded quizzes to support conceptual understanding. Validation results from material and media experts confirmed high feasibility in terms of content accuracy, visual design, and interactivity. Classroom implementation revealed that the Canva-based media effectively fostered active engagement, increased motivation, and improved comprehension of abstract concepts, as reported by both students and the teacher. The findings affirm that strategically designed, Canva-driven interactive media serves as both a feasible and effective instructional tool for building meaningful engagement in elementary IPAS education, aligning with the student-centered and dynamic learning goals of the Merdeka Curriculum.
