Abstract

Abstract Palangka Village has potential in the agricultural sector, especially porang and pepper farming which is quite promising to be developed as seen from adequate natural resources and is also supported by community awareness to utilize the available natural resources to be cared for and processed in order to obtain profits that can improve the standard of living of farmers. porang. However, porang and cloves are often attacked by pests and plant diseases. Farmers generally use chemical pesticides to eradicate these pests because chemical pesticides are widely sold on the market and are very effective in eradicating pests. They do not understand that the consequences of using chemical pesticides, especially over a long period of time and continuously, are very dangerous. The problem faced by partner farmers in plantation crops is the large number of pests that attack plantation crops, especially porang and pepper. Porang suffers a lot of leaf damage due to being attacked by tuber caterpillars. Many pepper plants also experience crop failure because the plants grow fungus. Mushrooms grow easily in farmers' plantation areas because the weather in Palangka Village is cold and damp. The knowledge of the Palangka Village community regarding livestock waste processing is very low. Public knowledge is also very low regarding the use of dangerous chemical pesticides for plantation and agricultural products. The alternative use of organic pesticides which are much more environmentally friendly and non-toxic is a better solution to replace the role of chemical pesticides. One of the organic pesticides can be made from liquid waste from goat livestock, namely urine. Achievement of the objectives of PKM activities can be seen from increasing public knowledge gained from farmers' awareness of using organic pesticides made from goat urine. This pesticide can be used to control pests and diseases of plantation crops. Some indicators of achievements in this activity are increasing public knowledge, producing organic pesticides made from goat urine, attractive product packaging, and making it easier for partner groups to process product permits at relevant institutions. Keywords: pests, pepper, pesticides, porang, urine.

Abstract

Agricultural mechanization is one of the important components for modern agriculture in achieving sustainable food self-sufficiency targets. In fact, advances in mechanization technology will make agriculture triumphant, so that Indonesia as the world's food barn can be realized.  This study aims to see how the development of innovation-based agricultural mechanization, as well as how the efficiency of agricultural products in the application of agricultural mechanization. The government through the Ministry of Agriculture has created many works to build mechanization 4.0, including (1) rice seed spreading drones, (2) rice planting robots, (3) autonomous tractors, and (4) integrated harvesting plus tillage machines. These four agricultural machines can be a solution for Indonesian farmers in running a modern farming business. The government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, has distributed agricultural machinery assistance in an effort to help farmers.  The use of rice transplanter (transplanting machinery) can save 30 percent of planting costs compared to conventional planting methods. Nationally, the cost of planting that can be saved reaches Rp 8.6 trillion every year. Weeding tools, the use of weeding machines is three times faster than conventional methods with a savings value of Rp 7 trillion in weeding costs. The use of tractors for soil cultivation can also reduce the use of conventional labor with faster operationalization.  The use of agricultural machinery, both pre- and post-harvest, is a driving force for accelerating the process of increasing production and farming efficiency so that farmers get greater benefits.

Abstract

Every country has efforts to fulfill food. In order to ensure a fair and equitable food supply at the community, household and individual levels in accordance with the purchasing power to meet food needs. Therefore, an alternative food buffer model is needed in each region, especially in big cities. This paper recommends a big city food buffer model with at least five areas that become the main functions of TTIC/DC. First, the field of supply management. Second, supply reserve management. Third, supply distribution management. Fourth, institutional management of food cooperation. Fifth, e-commerce-based information technology system. Food supply to big cities can be done by optimizing nearby areas to be more effective and efficient, and cutting long supply and distribution chains. This is important so that price fluctuations that often occur in big cities can be properly addressed.

Abstract

Socio-culture is increasingly recognized as an important part towards sustainable food production and consumption.  This evolution is reflected in the fact that socio-culture is now generally referred to as one of the main drivers of sustainable food production and consumption. This study focuses on socio-cultural aspects in relation to the food production subsystem and food consumption subsystem in highland communities in West Sinjai District, Sinjai Regency, South Sulawesi Province. Using a qualitative approach, case study method, with data collection techniques, in-depth interviews, full observation, documentation and triangulation. So that it can see in depth the socio-cultural reality of the highland community. The socio-cultural apparatus is one of the supporting factors in the realization of the sustainability of food production and consumption in highland communities. The socio-cultural apparatus is one of the supporting factors in realizing the sustainability of food production and consumption in upland communities.  The socio-cultural component in the food production of highland communities strongly emphasizes the value of togetherness, the value of mutual cooperation and religious values. These values are implemented into food production activities from land preparation to harvesting such as; "Appada Elo"; "Appatinro Bine"; "Passibaling"; "Ganre Pare Beru".  The socio-cultural component of food consumption in highland communities also emphasizes religious values (a symbol of gratitude to the creator and getting closer to their ancestors), the value of togetherness (serving food to others as a form of respect and appreciation) and prestige values (types of food such as: local varieties of brown rice). These values are wrapped in community norms that have been maintained for generations as an effort to maintain the sustainability of community food production and consumption
