Abstract

Background: Upper trapezius muscle pain is caused by overuse of the neck, hand, and shoulder muscles with the same movement resulting in decreased oxygen supply to the muscles. The treatments that can be given are contract-relax stretching and Mckenzie neck exercise. Contract relax stretching aims to reduce pain with stretching techniques. McKenzie's neck exercise aims to relax muscles, reduce spasms and return the alignment of the neck to a normal position. Methods: This type of research is a pre-experimental study with two pretest and post-test design groups. This design uses two groups to compare the causal relationship between the independent and dependent variables. The research population was peeling onion workers at CV. Anita Jaya Sukses had upper trapezius muscle pain. The sample of this study is a member of the people that meets the inclusion and exclusion criteria with a total of 18 selections. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The research instrument used is the numeric rating scale (NRS). Results: The Independent Sample T-Test showed that giving contract-relax stretching and McKenzie neck exercise had a significant value of 0.005 (p< 0.05), so H1 was accepted. Conclusion: There is a difference in the effect between contract-relax stretching and McKenzie neck exercise on reducing upper trapezius muscle pain in onion peel workers' CV. Anita Jaya Sukses and McKenzie's neck exercise has proven more effective.

Abstract

Background: Stroke is a neurological disorder characterized by blockage of blood vessels. The effects of stroke cause problems with motor, sensory and cognitive functions. These problems result in patients often complaining and feeling useless, so patients experience a decrease in self-efficacy. Low self-efficacy will cause a low level of self-acceptance and motivation that affects the patient's confidence in performing functional activities and self-management related to the healing process in stroke patients. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between self-efficacy and self-management in stroke patients. Methods: The research design used a cross-sectional study method conducted in December 2022 with a population of all stroke patients at Home Stroke Rehabilitation Malang who met the criteria to become participants in this study. Measurement of self-efficacy using The Stroke Self Efficacy Quetionnaire (SSEQ) and self-management using The Southampton Stroke Self Management Quetionnaire (SSSMQ). Rank Spearman was used to determining the relationship between the two variables showed that out of 49 respondents, there was a relationship between self-efficacy and self-management using the Rank Spearman test. Results: The study’s result (p = 0.000, r = 0.949) shows a very strong correlation. It can be concluded that there is a very strong relationship between self-efficacy and self-management in stroke patients because high confidence is very influential on the actions or attitudes of patients so that patients can move and prevent recurrent strokes and carry out rehabilitation programs properly. Conclusion: The higher the self-efficacy, the higher the self-management in post-stroke patients and vice versa. These two crucial components will affect the rehabilitation phase of post-stroke patients.

Abstract

One of the work-related musculoskeletal diseases is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS), which is a common occupational health problem among workers who frequently perform tasks involving prolonged hand use and improper positioning. CTS occurs when the median nerve is compressed at the wrist, causing paresthesia, numbness, and muscle weakness in the hand. The purpose of this educational session was to increase knowledge and awareness regarding the prevention and management of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome through physiotherapy exercises that can be performed independently by office workers. The methods included education on the definition, prevalence, risk factors, symptoms, and self-managed physiotherapy exercises, using leaflets and PowerPoint slides as educational media. Abstract

Background: Low back pain (LBP) management involves both pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches. One solution to prevent and manage LBP is through workplace interventions. Job demands are often linked to some of the main causes of occupational diseases, such as repetitive physical tasks, improper posture, and stress from uncomfortable standing positions, all of which occur while working. Objective: To enable participants to recognize ergonomic work positions and self exercise that can be done independently at work and at home. Methods: The method given was counseling to teachers and teaching staff in the form of health promotion about the introduction of the physiotherapy profession, Low Back Pain (LBP) conditions, a brief description of ergonomics, ergonomic aspects, good and correct ergonomics and self exercise at work and at home using power point media (PPT) and leaflets by conducting pre-post tests to measure the level of knowledge. Conclusion: From the volleyball sports community physiotherapy activities carried out on March 18, 2025 at SDN 001 Merancang Ilir showed significant results in increasing knowledge.
