Abstract

Background of the study: In the rapidly developing digital era, the implementation of technology in archival systems has become inevitable. Archive systems are no longer limited to storing physical documents on shelves or filing cabinets, they have evolved into complex and integrated digital systems. Purpose: This research aims to investigate the benefits and disadvantages of implementing technology in archive systems. Method: This research uses a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach to identify and analyze relevant articles about the implementation of technology in archive systems. This research is limited to articles published in the last five years in the Scopus database. Findings: The findings of this research reveal that the implementation of technology in archive systems provides significant benefits in terms of efficiency and information accessibility. However, it also presents risks and challenges such as high implementation costs, vulnerability to information security breaches, and risk of data loss. Conclusion: Although the implementation of technology in archival systems promises many benefits, organizations must carefully consider the associated risks and challenges. By better understanding the implications of these steps, organizations can make better decisions in their records management.

Abstract

Children's library services play a crucial role in fostering literacy, creativity, and a lifelong interest in learning from an early age. Through safe spaces, age-appropriate collections, and educational and digital programs, libraries such as Elmuloka support children's growth and development holistically and inclusively. Knowing the quality of children's information services in libraries is important as a basis for developing and improving services. This study aims to identify the information needs of children and the most effective approach to delivering children's services. This study uses qualitative research by conducting observations and interviews with librarians and users of the Elmuloka Library in Bandung. The reading sources available at the Elmuloka library include fiction, and non-fiction books, and access to children's magazines. The facilities provided are a children's reading room, bookshelves, and a room for storytelling. The service programs presented to increase children's interest in reading are Tuesday play, Wednesday story, little librarians, and book clubs. The interactions provided have met the requirements because librarians always ensure that children are under adult supervision to avoid taking book collections that are not appropriate for the child's age.

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim to find out what information is needed by the teacher in supporting teaching and learning activities, to find out the use of Internet-based information sources, and to find out the obstacles that arise in searching information what is done to overcome obstacles in conducting information searches. The method used in this study is a descriptive method. The Informant in this study were teachers of SD Laboratorium School, Indonesia University of Education. The results of the study found that the information needs of teachers were four aspects. Aspects of learning planning, information needs include RPP planning, teacher learning objectives, competencies, indicators, and material scope. Content or material aspects or learning experiences of information needs include student characteristics, forms of learning activities, learning strategies, and learning outcome evaluation tools. The aspects of choosing learning strategies and methods of information needs include learning objectives, students' initial knowledge, student characteristics, time allocation, supporting facilities, and the surrounding situation. The aspect of media selection, information needs include learning objectives, material scope, student characteristics, supporting features and technological development. Obstacles in information retrieval include time, ICT skills, weak and lazy search techniques.

Abstract

Artikel ini mengkaji penanggulangan bencana pada kearsipan di Indonesia. Mengingat Indonesia sering menghadapi berbagai jenis bencana alam dan non-alam, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis strategi penanggulangan bencana yang diterapkan sebelum, saat, dan setelah bencana terjadi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Systematic Literature Review (SLR) berdasarkan prosedur yang dikembangkan oleh Barbara Kitchenham, yang mencakup tiga tahapan: perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan pelaporan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis bencana secara umum menjadi jenis bencana yang paling sering dibahas dalam penanggulangan bencana pada kearsipan di Indonesia.  Meskipun upaya penanggulangan pra bencana telah cukup diperhatikan, upaya saat dan pasca bencana masih memerlukan perhatian yang lebih lanjut. Adapun secara spesifik, upaya yang paling sering dilakukan yaitu mengkonversi arsip konvensional menjadi arsip digital.

Abstract

Archives have a very important role, so an institution must have good archive management starting from archive creation to archive shrinkage. This article discusses effective efforts or strategies in archive shrinkage and archive maintenance activities at the Archival Institute of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI). The purpose of this research is to find out the strategies or methods carried out by the institution in the depreciation and maintenance of archives. The research method in this article uses a qualitative approach and descriptive analysis of literature review, and data collection techniques are obtained through observation, interviews, and literature study. Interviews were conducted with related archivists. Overall, this research focuses on best practices that can be done in archive management to improve efficiency and effectiveness of sustainability. The strategies discussed include paying attention to the Archive Retention Schedule, the process of destroying archives is also certainly based on predetermined rules, as well as efforts to maintain physical and digital archives that have been carried out by the UPI "University Archives" institution. The research results from the implementation of this strategy show that the archives have proven to be well maintained, increase efficiency, and have the potential for an archive institution to get a better award or accreditation from ANRI. This article is expected to make an important contribution in sharing best practices in archival information management. Thus, related parties can jointly develop and improve problems that become deficiencies in information management, especially archives, so that in the future it can always run well in supporting activities in any archival institution, be it from government or private agencies, certain companies, to universities.

Abstract

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) merupakan strategi yang digunakan oleh UPT Perpustakaan Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) untuk menjalin hubungan yang baik pada pemustaka. Selain keberadaan UPT Perpustakaan ITB sebagai perpustakann pusat, juga terdapat perpustakaan khusus di setiap fakultas maupun program studi yang menjadi pilihan mahasiswa dalam mengakses sumber informasi. Strategi dalam menjalin hubungan baik dengan pemustaka agar menjaga popularitas dalam menjaga citra baik UPT Perpustakaan ITB menjadi daya tarik untuk diteliti. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui 1) Pengaruh CRM terhadap citra UPT Perpustakaan ITB; 2) seberapa besar pengaruh data dan teknologi CRM terhadap citra UPT Perpustakaan ITB; 3) seberapa besar pengaruh sumber daya manusia customer relationship management terhadap citra UPT Perpustakaan ITB; 4) Seberaha besar pengaruh proses CRM terhadap citra UPT Perpustakaan ITB. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deksriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel dari penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa ITB dengan kategori minimal sebagai mahasiswa semester 2 dan memanfaatkan layanan perpustakaan. Teknik penentuan sampel pada penelitian ini adalah teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini menggunakan angket dengan skala Likert yang  dianalisis menggunakan analisis regresi linier sederhana. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang positif dan signifikan dari  customer relationship management terhadap citra UPT Perpustakaan Institut Teknologi Bandung baik dari aspek data dan teknologi, sumber daya manusia, maupun proses customer relationship management.

Abstract

Background: Public libraries play a strategic role in fostering children’s literacy and lifelong learning by providing services that are inclusive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate. However, children’s library services in many public libraries still face structural and managerial challenges that limit their effectiveness.Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the quality of children’s services at the Kabupaten Bandung Library and Archives Office (Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Kabupaten Bandung) and to formulate development strategies based on identified conditions. This study fills a research gap by employing SWOT analysis specifically to evaluate children’s services in Kabupaten Bandung public library.Methods: This research employed a descriptive qualitative design with a field research approach. Data were collected through direct observation and semi-structured interviews with librarians involved in children’s services. The aspects examined included collections, facilities, programs and activities, as well as interactions between librarians and child users. Data were analyzed using the SWOT framework to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats affecting children’s services.Results: The results indicate that the library has provided basic child-friendly facilities and implemented several literacy-oriented programs. Nevertheless, key challenges remain, including limited inclusive and foreign-language collections, the absence of a dedicated children’s librarian, and programs that are largely dependent on external requests rather than internal planning. Based on the SWOT analysis, several strategic recommendations are proposed, such as strengthening and diversifying collections, improving child-friendly and inclusive facilities, enhancing cross-sector collaboration, and establishing specialized children’s librarian roles. Conclusion: A structured and strategic approach is essential to ensure the sustainable development of children’s services and to strengthen the role of public libraries as responsive literacy spaces for children.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to obtain an overview of the application of information search models used by students in Bandung. The informants who participated were students at secondary schools. Eighteen students were selected as informants from each school. The schools selected for the study were SMPN 15, SMPN 29, SMPN 40, SMAN 15, SMA Sumatra 40, and SMA Kartika XIX-2. A qualitative research approach was used, with a case study method and purposive sampling. The results of the study show that, in general, the stages used in searching for information are carried out in three major stages, namely Starting, planning by organizing the steps in searching for information, and determining the subject to be used in searching for information. Analyzing, selecting the information to be used, analyzing the information obtained, storing unnecessary information, and using the necessary information. Evaluating, at this stage, students know when the information will be presented again, and the presentation of information is adjusted to the tasks and needs. On average, students search for information through the internet using Google search or social media. The information sought is mostly related to school assignments. This research advances this field by revealing patterned deviations from Ellis' model related to digital literacy levels.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has transformed how young people, particularly college students, communicate and develop their identities on social media. Personal branding has become crucial in this era, yet many individuals lack the digital literacy skills necessary to manage it effectively. Low digital literacy can lead to the spread of inaccurate information and inauthentic imagery, which can have negative impacts on digital privacy and reputation. This study aims to understand how high-achieving college students construct their personal brands on social media and the role digital literacy plays in this process. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, collecting data through in-depth interviews with six high-achieving college students. The analysis used Miles and Huberman's interactive model. The results revealed that the participants utilized Instagram and LinkedIn in complementary ways: Instagram was used to reach a broader audience through visual narratives, and LinkedIn was used to showcase academic achievements and build professional networks. Interacting with their audience is a crucial strategy for strengthening the credibility of their personal brand, which opens up opportunities for collaboration and professional relationships. Furthermore, digital literacy encompasses not only technical skills but also ethical awareness, critical thinking, and responsibility in managing digital information. In conclusion, high-achieving students' personal branding is formed through the synergy of social media utilization and digital literacy competencies. Together, these serve as a crucial foundation for building academic and professional reputations in the digital age.
