Abstract

The preseismic and coseismic deformation due to the 21st November Cianjur Earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 Mw has been analyzed. This study uses Global Navigation Satellite Station (GNSS) data and 13 Indonesian Continuously Operating Reference Station (InaCORS) daily displacement data to reveal the source of the 21 November 2022 Cianjur earthquake. The InaCORS stations used include BAKO, CANG, CBTU, CJKT, CJUR, CLBG, CLDO, CPTN, CPWK, CROL, CSUM, and CUMI. This research uses GLOBK/GAMIT software and is interpreted in a deformation map. From the data processing results, the deformation pattern of station shifts in the pre-earthquake phase indicates that the movement of the Cimandiri Fault did not cause the 21 November 2022 Cianjur earthquake but was likely caused by a new fault. This is indicated by the difference between the deformation direction of the InaCORS station close to the epicenter and the direction of the Cimandiri Fault movement. The most significant horizontal coseismic deformation was obtained at 43.86 mm at CJUR station, with deformation towards the southeast. The most significant vertical coseismic deformation (uplift) was obtained at 25.9 mm at the CLDO station.

Abstract

Research has been conducted on earthquake hazard in West Nusa Tenggara using the Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Analysis (PSHA) method. Earthquake data from 1900 2023 were obtained from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) catalog. PSHA uses earthquake parameters that produce maximum ground acceleration (PGA). The PGA value is calculated using an attenuation function based on the earthquake source. The results of the analysis show that for West Nusa Tenggara, the maximum PGA is 0,65 g with a 10% return event probability in 50 years and 0,71 g with a 2% return event probability in 50 years. Areas with high earthquake risk with 2% and 10% return event probability in 50 years are Sumbawa with PGA ranges of 0,26-0,68 g and 0,18 0,26 g and Lombok with PGA ranges of 0,26-0,47 g and 0,26-0,42 g, respectively. Areas with the lowest to moderate earthquake risk with a probability of re-occurrence of 2% and 10% in 50 years are Bima with a PGA of 0,37 g and 0,26 g, Badjo with a PGA range of 0,37-0,47 g and 0,26 g, and Kore with a PGA range of 0,26-0,37 g and 0,18-0,26 g, respectively. Based on the PGA values obtained, Sumbawa is an area that has the greatest level of earthquake risk due to its location close to the subduction zone.

Abstract

Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Analysis (PSHA) is a method to estimate earthquake risk in a region by considering uncertainties in earthquake sources and local ground response. To estimate earthquake risk and seismic impacts in a region, an in-depth analysis of seismicity parameters, such as a-value and b-value, as well as maximum ground acceleration (PGA), is required. This study aims to analyze changes in seismicity parameters, particularly b-value (rock fragility) and a-value (seismicity index) in the Maluku region before and after the 2019 Ambon earthquake. This study also aims to see whether there are changes in Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA) values for the Maluku region after the 2019 Ambon Earthquake. The seismic data used in this study comes from the USGS catalogue recorded from 2000 to 2022. The results of this study show that the b-Value of the Maluku region as a whole before the earthquake was 1.15 and decreased to 0.91 after the 2019 Ambon earthquake. However, the a-Value and b-Value for each seismic source zone increased. In addition, the PGA value for the Maluku region is 1.25g. These results provide the conclusion that the Maluku region is included in the zone with medium seismic hazard with the level of earthquake damage included in category VI of the MMI scale.

Abstract

Nobita Hill, a tourist site in Padang City, is undergoing development as a tourist destination that offers a bird's-eye view of Padang City. Unfortunately, the hilly topography with steep slopes increases the risk of landslides in this area. In order to address the problem, the community service team from the Physics Department of Andalas University has carried out a six-month community service program from July to December 2022. It focused on disaster awareness education and used a qualitative approach. This activity aims to socialize disaster mitigation efforts, especially those related to landslides and earthquakes, considering that Padang City is also prone to earthquakes. The results of this activity showed an increase in the knowledge of the local community after the socialization, but repeated activities are needed to achieve optimal results. This ongoing activity is essential to ensure continuous improvement in the community's understanding of disaster mitigation and to support efforts to make Bukit Nobita a disaster-resilient area. Thus, this activity makes a positive contribution to shaping a safe, sustainable, and disaster-resilient tourism environment.

Abstract

The position of Padang City on the coast and close to the subduction zone makes it very vulnerable to the impact of earthquakes, therefore mitigation efforts against potential disasters are very important to reduce the risk of such events. This study was conducted to map ground acceleration using the microtremor method as one of the efforts in earthquake disaster mitigation. The calculation of the maximum ground acceleration (PGA) value uses dominant frequency data (f0), amplification factor (A0 ) and soil vulnerability (kg) as input data obtained from microtremor data analysis using the Horizontal to vertical spectral ratio (HVSR) method. The microtremor data processed were 33 measurement points in 11 sub-districts in Padang City with a distance between points of 1-5 km. The dominant frequency, amplification, vulnerability and maximum ground acceleration values were then mapped to determine areas prone to earthquake disasters. Areas of Padang City with a high level of vulnerability can be seen in Bungus Teluk Kabung District and Padang Barat District.
