Abstract

Small Island Gelasa rarely studied. Mapping ecosystems on small islands with the image of Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS). Previous research has found that ALOS has the ability to map coral reefs and seagrass beds in shallow water, and is able to map vegetation cover density. The method of image interpretation uses the vegetation index algorithm in the ALOS image, NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index), and the Lyzengga approach to correct the water column. The results of the study were obtained in the area of Seagrass Padang in the shallow waters of 41.99 ha, the area of coral reefs was 125.57 ha. NDVI results on land / small islands Gelasa for dense vegetation of 47.62 ha; area of Medium Vegetation coverage 105.86 Ha; and the coverage of Rare Vegetation is 34.24 Ha.

Abstract

Gastropods are an important component of the food chain in seagrass ecosystem, where gastropods are basic animals of detritus feeder and litter from fallen seagrass leaves and circulate substance suspended in water. The abundance and distribution of gastropods is influenced by local environmental factors, food availability, predatory and competition. This research was conducted from September to November 2018 at Puding beach, South Bangka. The data collected consisted of community structure and gastropods density, seagrass density, and aquatic chemical physics factors. Based on the result of research on structure of gastropod communities on the Puding beach fall into category medium and highest density Cerithium granosum 12778 ind/Ha and the lowest density Turbinella fusus 556 ind/Ha, the highest seagrass density of Halodule uninervis is 141 teg/m2 and the lowest density is 7 teg/m2. Based on the analysis of seagrass density correlation with gastropod density obtained the value of coefficient of determinance (R2) = 0,5864 and correlation coefficient (r) = 0,766 which indicates the relationship of seagrass density and gastropod density is correlated positively and strongly.

Abstract

Halophila spinulosa (R. Br.) Aschers is a type of seagrass found in Indonesia with limited distribution. One of the areas where Halophila spinulosa is found in the Bangka Belitung Islands. Although found in the Bangka Belitung Islands, information on this type of seagrass is very limited. The objectives of the study were to identify morphological characters, identify types of seagrass associated with Halophila spinulosa and present a distribution map of Halophila spinulosa in the Bangka Belitung Islands. The research method for seagrass morphological characters is based on field data in the form of photographs, then compared with identification sources from books and research journals. The seagrass distribution map was determined based on a literature search from 2015 to 2022 and then a map was made using Arcmap 10.8 software. The results of the research on the morphological characters of Halophila spinulosa species can be seen from the shape of the roots, rhizomes, leaves, flowers and fruit. This type of root form is unbranched root (simple root) and each node on the rhizome has one root. Compound leaves are elliptical in shape. These leaves are paired, in opposite positions, located in one plane, arranged obliquely around the stem and have serrated leaf tips. The distribution of Halophila spinulosa seagrass in the Bangka Belitung Islands is spread in the areas of Central Bangka Regency, South Bangka Regency and Belitung Regency. Halophila spinulosa species are often found mixed (associated) with seagrass species Halodule uninervis and Oceana serrulata.
