Abstract

Problem-solving in chemistry requires support from various aspects, including psychological aspects such as self-efficacy and cognitive aspects such as creative thinking skills. This study aims to determine the effect of the Project-based Learning (PjBL) model on the self-efficacy and creative thinking skills of Grade XI students on the topic of buffer solutions at SMAN 1 Mauponggo. The research design used was a nonequivalent control group design, with purposive sampling as the sampling method, where participants were selected based on specific goals or criteria relevant to the research topic. The independent variable in this study was the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model. Self-efficacy data were collected using a self-efficacy questionnaire. In contrast, creative thinking skills data were obtained through a test developed based on indicators of creative thinking skills (fluency, flexibility, originality, elaboration). Hypothesis testing was conducted using MANOVA. The results showed that both students' self-efficacy and creative thinking skills had an F-value of 15.198, which exceeded the F-table value of 4.05 at a significance level of 0.05. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the PjBL model has a significant effect on students’ self-efficacy and creative thinking skills.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to develop an integrated ethnochemical acid-base solution teaching module based on augmented reality (AR) that is valid, practical and effective. The development model uses 4D design (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The module that has been developed will be validated by two validators. Apart from that, effectiveness tests were also carried out through limited trials. Data collection using validation questionnaires and practicality questionnaires. Data analysis using the IBM SPSS Statistics 22 application. validation by experts and limited testing on 20 students obtained an Aiken's V value of 0.9 and an average practicality of 86%. This shows that the augmented reality (AR)-based integrated acid-base ethnochemistry teaching module that has been developed is very valid, very practical and effective for use in chemistry learning

Abstract

This research aims to determine the comparison of secondary metabolite levels in vetiver root plants and to develop a bulletin media expected to support the teaching of Natural Product Chemistry. The research method used is an experiment and the 4D (define, design, develop, disseminate) Research and Development model by Thiagarajan. The research was conducted in a chemistry laboratory, analytical laboratory. The distribution of questionnaire sheets was in the classroom. Vetiver root extracts used in this study were sourced from plants based on shading factors. The experiment was carried out in two stages, namely phytochemical screening and GC-MS analysis. Based on the conducted tests, it was found that the percentage of secondary metabolite content in vetiver root extracts from unshaded samples was higher compared to shaded samples. In the media development, purposive sampling technique was used and the sample consisted of students from the 2020 Chemistry Education program in the seventh-semester, who had programmed and attended Natural Product Chemistry lectures. Data collection for the development of the bulletin media was carried out using validity sheets and student response questionnaires. The validity test conducted by experts obtained a validity value of 0.9, which falls into the highly valid category. In the limited trial, a practicality percentage of 86% was obtained, which falls into the highly practical category. Therefore, it can be concluded that the bulletin learning media is suitable and practical for use in the learning process.

Abstract

Learning difficulties are obstacles that hinder students from achieving optimal academic performance. This study aims to analyze the learning difficulties encountered by Grade XI students in chemistry and to identify the contributing factors. The research employed a descriptive method with a qualitative approach, involving 70 students from MAN 1 Central Lombok as research subjects. Data were collected using questionnaires, interview guides, and students’ test scores. The research instruments were validated by three expert validators, yielding a validity score of 0.88, indicating a high level of validity, and tested for reliability using Cronbach’s Alpha, which confirmed their consistency. Data were analyzed descriptively by calculating the percentage of learning difficulties based on specific indicators or criteria. The findings revealed that students faced major difficulties in calculation-based materials (60%) and theoretical concepts (54.06%). Interviews were conducted to strengthen the data obtained from the questionnaires. The contributing factors were categorized into internal factors, external factors, and learning approaches, with internal factors being the most dominant at 59%. This study is expected to serve as an evaluation material for teachers and schools in designing more effective and context-based learning strategies in chemistry education.

Abstract

This research is a development research or Research and Development (R&D) which aims to produce Student Worksheets (LKPD) that are categorized as minimally feasible and practical regarding the material of buffer solutions. The type of development used is research and development (R&D) which refers to the 4D model. LKPD validation was carried out by two Chemistry Educationlecturers and one Chemistry subject teacher at the high school level, with two main validations, namely material validation and media validation. The validation process uses the Aiken's Index formula. The validation results show that themedia validity index is 0.76, which means that the level of feasibility is classified as feasible, the material validity index is 0.77, which means that the level of feasibility is classified as feasible, which indicates that the LKPD has good validity. After going through the validation process, the LKPD was tested on 36 students to measure its level of practicality. The test results show that the level of practicality of the LKPD reached 79.44%, which means that the level of practicalityis classified as practical. Based on theseresults, this LKPD is declared feasible to be used as a learning medium regarding buffer solutions at the high school level.
