Abstract

Stunting in toddlers is still a problem in Indonesia. Kalimas Village is one of the stunting village loci with a prevalence rate of 14.7 percent in Pohuwato District. Low community knowledge related to stunting and variations in complementary foods for children is one of the triggers for the high stunting rate in this village. Therefore, it is necessary to increase understanding related to handling stunting and its prevention. One strategy to increase understanding is to provide learning contents to improve stunting literacy through the development of a website that contains comprehensive stunting education articles and videos. In addition, educational videos on processing local food into additional food that has nutritional value for stunted children are also provided. With this educational website, the village can also publicize the potential of the village so that it can develop the existing village potential.

Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) reported an increase in type 2 diabetes cases in Indonesia, from 8,4% in 2000 to 21,3 in 2030. Functional food innovation to prevent diabetes in the form of corn and Goroho banana-based food bars needs to be performed. This study aimed to determine preference and nutritional value in a preliminary study of food innovation. This research method used a one-variable completely randomized experimental design (CRD), three treatments; ratio of corn and goroho banana; F-1 (90:10), F-2 (80:20), and F-3 (70:30). The preference test was conducted in the organoleptic laboratory of the Nutrition Department of Gorontalo Health Polytechnic using 30 semi-trained panelists to obtain the most preferred formula based on the ranking test presented in averages and analyzed using the Friedman test followed by the Wilcoxon post-hoc test. The nutritional value of the food bars was tested at the Gadjah Mada University Food Laboratory from May to June 2020. Results of preference level for corn-based food bars (zea mays l) and goroho banana-based food bars (M. Accuminafe) sequentially F-1 (90:10) with a mean of 3,40, nutritional value  of 4,76% fat, 7,28% protein, 66,21% carbohydrates, and 1,28% crude fiber. In conclusion, F-1 was selected as a food source for people with diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Abstrak: Masalah gizi adalah masalah kesehatan masyarakat yang penanggulangannya tidak dapat dilakukan dengan pendekatan medis dan pelayanan kesehatan saja. Prevalensi stunting di Kota Gorontalo 28,3% dan telah ditetapkan beberapa wilayah lokus satunting, salah satunya wilayah di Kecamatan Kota Barat. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian Masyarakat ini adalah untuk melakukan pelatihan dan praktek pembuatan makanan bayi dan anak pada kelompok dasawisma sebagai upaya pencegahan kejadian stunting pada balita. Pelaksanaan kegiatan terdiri dari tahap persiapan dengan penyusunan materi dan modul PMBA, tahap pelaksanaan dengan pemberian edukasi dan praktik pembuatan MP ASI, tahap monitoring dan evaluasi dengan melakukan pengukuran pre dan post-test. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan kelompok dasawisma setelah mengikuti kegiatan edukasi dan pelatihan praktik pembuatan MP ASI (48%) dan telah terbentuk MoA Poltekkes Kemenkes Gorontalo dan Kelurahan Dembe I sebagai mitra pengabdian kepada Masyarakat.Abstract: Nutritional problems are public health problems whose mitigation cannot be done with medical approaches and health services alone. The prevalence of stunting in Gorontalo City is 28.3% and several locus areas have been determined, one of which is in Kota Barat District. The purpose of this community service activity is to conduct training and practice in making baby and child food for dasawisma groups as an effort to prevent stunting in toddlers. The implementation of activities consists of the preparation stage with the preparation of PMBA materials and modules, the implementation stage by providing education and practice of making MP ASI, the monitoring and evaluation stage by measuring pre and post-tests. The results of the activity showed an increase in knowledge of the dasawisma group after participating in education and training activities on the practice of making MP ASI and an MoA of Poltekkes Kemenkes Gorontalo and Dembe I Village has been formed as community service partners.

Abstract

Nutritional status is a reflection of body health related to dietary patterns and intake. One indicator is weight-for-age (WFA), which is classified into four categories including severely underweight, underweight, normal and overweight. Nutrition during infancy and toddlerhood is crucial because of a golden period for growth and development. Neglect during this period can lead to severe and long-lasting health problems, such as stunted physical development, susceptibility to diseases, and future cognitive impairments. The aims of the study was to determine the relationship between mothers knowledge of nutrition and the nutritional status of toddlers. The study was quantitative research employed a cross-sectional design. The study population was 694 parents of toddlers, with a sample size of 87 parents of toddlers. The results showed that most mothers of toddlers had a moderate level of knowledge about nutrition 36 (41.4%). Among the toddlers, 45 (51.7%) were classified as underweight based WFA, and 85 (97.7%) were not stunted based on their height-for-age (HFA). There was a relationship between mothers knowledge of nutrition and the WFA nutritional status of toddlers, but no relationship was found between mothers knowledge of nutrition and the HFA nutritional status of toddlers.Status gizi adalah cerminan kesehatan tubuh yang berkaitan dengan pola makan dan asupan. Salah satu indikator status gizi adalah berat badan munurut umur (BB/U) yang diklasifikasikan menjadi empat yaitu gizi buruk, gizi kurang, gizi baik dan gizi lebih. Perhatian terhadap gizi pada usia bayi dan balita sangat esensial, karena periode ini merupakan masa emas (golden period) untuk tumbuh kembang. Periode ini dapat berakibat buruk dan memicu dampak negatif yang berakibat fatal bagi penerus. Menyebabkan berbagai masalah kesehatan seperti terhambatnya perkembangan fisik, mudah terserang penyakit, dan mengalami gangguan kecerdasan di kemudian hari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan pengetahuan ibu tentang gizi dengan status gizi balita. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan desain cross-sectional. Populasi penelitian adalah 694 orang tua balita, sementara sampel penelitian 87 orang tua balita. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pengetahuan ibu balita tentang gizi sebagian besar memiliki pengetahuan cukup sebanyak 36 (41,4%), balita yang memiliki status gizi BB/U gizi kurang sebanyak 45 (51,7%) dan TB/U tidak stunting sebanyak 85 (97,7%). Terdapat hubungan antara pengetahuan ibu tentang gizi dengan status gizi BB/U balita dan tidak ada hubungan pengetahuan ibu tentang gizi dengan status gizi TB/U pada balita.

Abstract

Parenting style is a crucial factor closely related to the incidence of stunting in toddlers under five years old, as it significantly impacts in growth and development of toddlers. Parental involvement is essential in preventing stunting to reduce its prevalence. Stunting is a condition where toddlers fail to grow properly due to chronic malnutrition, resulting in a height that does not correspond with age. Stunting remains a significant nutritional problem for toddlers in the worldwide. The aims of the study was to determine the relationship between parenting styles and the incidence of stunting in toddlers. The quantitative research used an analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The population was 835 toddlers, with a sample size of 89 toddlers that taken by stratified random sampling. The study results indicated that the distribution of parenting style was democratic as many as 24,7%, authoritative 27% and permissive 48,3%. The majority of parents with permissive parenting styles had toddlers with stunting with total 39 respodnents (86.7%). The incidence of stunting was 50,6%. There was a significant association between parenting styles and the incidence of stunting (p-value = 0.000). The conclusion of the study there was a significant association between parenting styles and the incidence of stunting. Pola asuh orang tua merupakan salah satu faktor yang sangat berkaitan erat dengan kejadian stunting pada balita yang berumur dibawah lima tahun karena pola asuh orang tua dapat mempengaruhi pertumbuhan dan perkembangan pada balita. Peran orang tua dalam pencegahan stunting sangat dibutuhkan untuk mengurangi angka kejadian stunting. Stunting adalah kondisi gagal tumbuh pada anak balita akibat dari kekurangan gizi kronis sehingga menyebabkan tinggi badan balita tidak sesuai degan usianya. Kejadian stunting masih menjadi salah satu masalah gizi yang dialami oleh balita di dunia saat ini. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan pola asuh orang tua dengan kejadian stunting pada balita. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dan menggunakan rancangan analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Total populasi sebanyak 835 dan sampel 89 balita dengan pengambilan sampel penelitian secara tratified random sampling. Adapun hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pola pengasuhan orang tua sebanyak 24,7% pola asuh demokratis, 27% pola asuh otoriter, dan 48,3% dengan pola asuh permisif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sebagian besar pola asuh orang tua secara permisif dengan stunting sebanyak 39 orang (86,7%). Kejadian stunting sebanyak 50,6%. Terdapat hubungan pola asuh orang tua dengan kejadian stunting (p-value = 0.000). Kesimpulan penelitian menunjukkan terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara pola asuh dengan kejadian stunting pada balita.

Abstract

The current health problem in Indonesia is stunting. Stunting or often called stunting or shortness, is a condition of failure to grow in aged children under five years (toddlers) due to chronic malnutrition and recurrent infections especially in the First 1,000 Days of Life (HPK), namely from fetus to child 23 months. Stunting originates from health problems and nutritional status of pre-pregnant, pregnant and pregnant women The breastfeeding period will determine the growth of the fetus and toddler. Pregnant mother Nutritional and health problems will put you at risk of giving birth to a low birth weight baby be a risk factor for stunting. Assistance for pregnant women and mothers who have Children aged 2 years are expected to be able to prevent and overcome stunting during this period 1000 HPK. The role of the community by involving the village community and religious leaders (mosque imams and recitation teachers) is considered quite important for increasing knowledge about Exclusive breastfeeding in preventing stunting

Abstract

Abstrak: Pemantauan Status Gizi 2020 Kabupaten Gorontalo menyatakan temuan kasus stunting wilayah Kecamatan Tilango sebesar 151 kasus (15,1%) dan wilayah Kecamatan Telaga Jaya sebesar 73 kasus (7.5 %), SSGI 2021 prevalensi stunting di Kabupaten Gorontalo sebesar 28,3 %. Salah satu upaya pencegahan stunting dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan intervensi spesifik dan sensitif. Intervensi gizi spesifik, yakni intervensi yang berhubungan dengan peningkatan gizi dan kesehatan. Intervensi gizi sensitif, seperti penyediaan air bersih dan sanitasi. Tujuan kegiatan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan ibu balita dan ibu hamil tentang pencegahan stunting melalui intervensi spesifik dan sensitif, menggunakan metode penyuluhan, pemantauan tumbuh kembang, kelengkapan imunisasi, pemantauan konsumsi Tablet Tambah Darah dan sumber air minum. Mitra yang terlibat mitra pendukung (Kepala Desa, aparat desa dan kader kesehatan) dan mitra sasaran (ibu hamil, ibu yang memiliki anak usia 0-59 bulan sebanyak 80 orang). Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan pengetahuan baik 81,25%, cukup 12,50% dan 6,25% kurang. Tumbuh kembang dan kelengkapan imunisasi menunjukkan 90,56% sesuai. Gambaran konsumsi TTD sebanyak 23 orang baik dan 4 orang kurang baik, sumber air minum keluarga yaitu air isi ulang 13 orang, air PDAM 58 orang dan 9 orang menggunakan sumur bor.Abstract: The 2020 Nutrition Status Monitoring of Gorontalo Regency stated that the findings of stunting cases in the Tilango District were 151 cases (15.1%) and the Telaga Jaya District area were 73 cases (7.5%). SSGI 2021 the prevalence of stunting in Gorontalo Regency is 28.3%. One of the efforts to prevent stunting is carried out by using a specific and sensitive intervention approach. Specific nutrition interventions, namely interventions related to improving nutrition and health. Sensitive nutrition interventions, such as provision of clean water and sanitation. The aim of the activity is to increase the knowledge of mothers under five and pregnant women about Stunting Prevention through Specific and Sensitive Interventions, using counseling methods, monitoring growth and development, completeness of immunization, monitoring consumption of Blood Supplement Tablets and drinking water sources. Partners involved are supporting partners (Village Head, village officials and health cadres) and target partners (pregnant women, mothers with children aged 0-59 months). The results of the activity showed good knowledge of 81.25%, 12.50% enough and 6.25% lacking. Growth and development and completeness of immunization showed 90.56% appropriate. An overview of the consumption of TTD as many as 23 people are good and 4 people are not good, the family's source of drinking water is refill water for 13 people, PDAM water for 58 people and 9 people use drilled wells.

Abstract

The government has formulated a National Strategy (STRANAS) to acceleration of stunting reduction. The prevention of stunting throughout integrated interventions (convergence actions), including nutrition-specific focused on pregnant women and children while nutrition sensitif focused on environment and sanitation. Presidential Regulation concerning the acceleration of stunting reduction is carried out holistically, integratively, and with quality carried out through coordination, synergy and synchronization. This study aims to determine the action-based convergence acceleration of the stunting reduction program and evaluate the motivational elements that influence the program's effectiveness in Gorontalo City. The study was qualitative study. The research informants were the coordinator of stunting convergence of 6 Regional Goverment Organization (RGO) level and nutritionist in the nutrition program as a key informant and regular informant as targeted group in the convergence action, health cadres and village apparatus. The study showed that stunting convergence has implemented by related RGO with 8 convergence actions including with situation analysis, activity plans, stunting crackdowns, governor regulations, human cadre development, data management systems, stunting data measurement and publication as well as annual reviews. The conclusion about the implementation of stunting convergence actions by RGO in Gorontalo City shows positive efforts to support the acceleration of stunting reduction.

Abstract

Bi’o is a traditional Gorontalo food for toddlers which predominantly contains carbohydrates because it is only made from sago and palm sugar. Cookies in a pot/pan while stirring until thick/cookies, cooled and then ready to be served. Bi’o modified from sago and palm sugar are added with HPI (hydrolysis of mackerel protein), eggs, butter, chocolate and chocochip into a dough, molded, baked for 30 minutes at 150 degrees Celcius and the results are called prokies (protein cookies). The objective of study was to analyze the acceptability of prokies for well-nourishe and malnourished toddlers. The method of study was experimental research design that analyzing the acceptability of prokies. The pediatrician performs a medical examination. There were 38 well-nourished toddler respondents 39 malnourished toddler who met the criteria. The results indicated that  the average acceptability for prokies in well-nourished toddlers on the firts day was 4.11±0.65 and on the thirtieth day 4.18±0.56, while malnutrition on the first day was 4.00±0.61 and on the thirtieth day 4.33±0,66 which showed there was no signifikan difference ( p value = 0,05). Likewise, the reason for score aceptance was because the taste, aroma, color and texture average >4.0. The conclution showed that  prokies were liked by normal nutrition and wasted nutrition toddlers because of  taste, aroma, color and texture that were eaten completely in the first day to the thirtieth day, so it can be used to overcame in nutritional problems.Bi’o merupakan makanan tradisional Gorotalo untuk balita, sebagian besar hanya mengandung karbohidrat karena terbuat dari sagu dan gula aren. Bi’o dimasak dalam panci/wajan sambil diaduk hingga kental/matang, didinginkan lalu siap dihidangkan. Bi’o yang dimodifikasi yakni menggunakan sagu dan gula aren ditambahkan dengan HPI (hidrolisis protein ikan tenggiri), telur, mentega, coklat dan chocochip menjadi adonan, dicetak, dipanggang selama 30 menit pada suhu 150 derajat Celcius dan hasilnya disebut prokies (protein cookies). Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk menganalisis daya terima prokies pada balita gizi baik dan gizi kurang. Desain penelitian menggunakan penelitian eksperimental dengan menganalisis daya terima prokies. Dokter anak melakukan pemeriksaan kesehatan. Responden balita gizi baik berjumlah 38 orang dan balita gizi kurang ada 39 orang yang memenuhi kriteria. Hasil penelitian  menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata tingkat kesukaan prokies balita gizi baik pada hari pertama adalah 4,11±0,65 dan pada hari ketiga puluh 4,18±0,56, sedangkan pada gizi kurang pada hari pertama adalah 4,00±0,61 dan pada hari ketiga puluh 4,33±0,66 yang menunjukkan tidak ada perbedaan signifikan (p value = 0,05). Demikian pula, alasan kesukaan karena rasa, aroma, warna dan tekstur rata-rata >4,0. Kesimpulan menunjunkkan bahwa prokies disukai oleh balita gizi baik dan gizi kurang karena rasa, aroma, warna dan teksturnya serta dihabiskan sejak hari pertama hingga hari ketiga puluh sehingga dapat digunakan untuk mengatasi masalah gizi.
