Abstract

The purpose of this research was to ascertain how students in SMAN 10 Jeneponto's eleventh grade may improve their pronunciation ability by employing English songs. This research used a pre-experimental design and a quantitative methodology. The eleventh grade students of SMAN 10 Jeneponto comprise the population of this research, while the sample consisted of 33 students in class XI.3. Data were gathered using pre- and post-testing. The analysis's findings indicate that the post-test mean score was 72.96 in the "good" classification and the mean pre-test score was 39.42 in the "very poor" classification. The probability value (sig. 2-tailed) = 0.000 is below the significance level of 0.05. Pronunciation abilities in grade eleven of SMAN 10 Jeneponto. According to the investigation, the hypothesis H0 is rejected and H1 is supported. The researcher came to the conclusion that using English songs helped students in the eleventh grade of SMAN 10 Jeneponto pronounce words more correctly based on the results of the data analysis. Keywords: English Song, Pronunciation Ability.

Abstract

This study aims to describe how the use of social media in the process of learning English vocabulary. This study uses a qualitative method using a descriptive approach. To achieve the research objectives, data were obtained through observations and interviews. The participants included in this study were 25 students of class VIII.A SMPN 03 Mattiro Sompe Kab.  Pinrang  as  who  have  passed  the  required  criteria  (cluster  random  sampling).  The results of this study indicate that social media can be used as, (1) learning medium because it is easily accessible. (2) as an information source for teachers and students (3) Increase students' motivation in learning English. (4) Increase students' vocabulary to make it easier for students to learn English. (5) Get used to listening and reading English words on social media. (6) Whataapp and YouTube are used as media alternatives in English learning.Keywords- Using, Social Media, WhatsApp and YouTube, Learning Media, Vocabulary.

Abstract

This research aims to find out(1) the type of classroom interaction used by teacher in developing students’ speaking ability, and (2) types of classroom interaction affect the students’ speaking ability.This research uses qualitative methods by using 3 research instruments, namely, observation, documentation, and interview, this research was conducted on teacher and grade 8 students at SMPN Satap 3 Cina. This research used purposive sampling by selecting 10 students based on the results of the highest to lowest English learning scores. The results of the analysis of this study indicate that the type of classroom interaction used by teacher to develop students' speaking abilities, namely collaborative learning, discussion, interactive sessions, telling, reading with a loud voice, and role play. Of the six types of classroom interaction used by the teacher, all students who were interviewed said that the types of classroom interaction that can improve students' speaking skills are collaborative learning, discussion, and role-play. As for the interactive session, telling, and reading with a loud voice type of class interaction, most students think that this type of class interaction has not been able to improve their speaking ability because some students are still nervous, feel embarrassed, and still lack vocabulary. This is also confirmed by the teacher, apart from that lack of learning media in schools. Based on this, it can be concluded that students’ speaking abilities affect to increase through classroom interactions used by teacher to students, including grammar, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and chronological age.
