Abstract

This research was conducted to examine the handling and procedures for halal certification at halal certification institution in Indonesia, Malaysia as a Muslim-majority country and Mexico as a Muslim-minority country, and to analyze using the SWOT approach. Halal product certification in Indonesia is carried out by the Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH) under the auspices of the government (Ministry of Religion). The aim is to provide guarantees to the community, especially Muslims from the products consumed. And in Malaysia it is carried out by JAKIM (Department of Islamic Development Malaysia) under the post of prime minister of Malaysia. While in Mexico it is carried out by private/independent non-governmental organizations. These three institutions have the same goal, to provide halal security and certainty to the Muslim community in the two countries in consuming food products and at a minimum. This study uses the literature study method by utilizing a variety of literature that helps explain the problems that are the focus of the study. The results of the study explain that the mechanism of implementing halal certification in Indonesia, Malaysia and Mexico has similarities. The countries of Indonesia and Malaysia are under the auspices of the government, while they are carried out by private institutions and have the challenge of a lack of human resources that meet the requirements because the country is a Muslim minority. They have differences in terms of costs, the length of the certification process, the role of the government and the sector being certified.

Abstract

This paper discusses Indonesian Baitul Maal wat-Tamwil product innovations. BMT is still seen as exclusive, especially for micro, small, and medium enterprises. BMT still lacks dissemination. Its products also resemble banks'. Thus, it affects public perception of banking's equality with BMT. BMT is more complicated and easier than banking. BMT is everywhere but rarely used. Thus, MSME financing needs innovation. BMT's financing products should be promoted through new innovations and increased dissemination. Thus, banking products will differ from non-bank financial products in the future. Qualitative, descriptive-analytic, data-source-adapted data collection is used in this study. Interviews and observations collected data. Literature studies provided secondary data. After revising, reducing, analyzing, and presenting the data, conclusions and research results were written. This study found that BMT's Mudharabah Empowerment Card (MEC) can solve MSMEs' non-bank financial institution financing problems.

Abstract

Natural disasters that have occurred and resulted in quite a large number of victims include Aceh (2004) and Palu Sigi Donggala (2018). The inevitable loss of life in the event of a disaster causes unclaimed funds to settle in the bank because the owner of the account balance and their heirs are victims of a natural disaster, or their whereabouts are unknown. In previous studies, the handling of unclaimed funds in the banking system was carried out in three ways: left alone, resolved by returning to the owner, and becoming bank income. Meanwhile, according to the Fatwa contained in the Compilation of Sharia Economic Law, a custodian of property/muwaddi' funds or the custodian of assets/funds is not known, then the mustaudi' or those entrusted with the assets/funds shall keep the object of the assets/funds until it is known and/or proven that the muwaddi' has passed away. This study uses a literacy study method to solve the problem of unclaimed funds' property rights. Therefore, it is necessary to clarify the concept of property rights of unclaimed funds so that they can be managed by parties or institutions authorized to manage them and used for the benefit of the people.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the provincial priorities for the development of the mosque-based ZISWAF ecosystem by Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI). This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, focusing on texts, expressions, and behaviors of resource persons to explore the potential of mosques and the potential for economic and financial empowerment of the people. The study uses a structured interview method to identify key areas on the islands of Java and Sumatra, specifically highlighting East Java, West Java, Jakarta, Aceh, and South Java, as well as additional regions like East Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, and Bali. The results of the study also show that there are differences, advantages, and disadvantages of UPZ and MPZ both in terms of legality, institutional, work patterns, operations, sustainability, and fund distribution flows. There are four clusters of challenges faced by Bank BSI in efforts to develop the mosque and mosque ecosystem in Indonesia, namely, the human resources of amil and nazhir mosques, worshippers and residents around mosques (government regulations and budgets), and the legality of mosque LPZs (local government budgets). The study also shows that there is a significant difference in the quality of mosque management based on dimensions, variables, and indicators on the existing mosque index. It is hoped that the use of this instrument can make it easier for Bank FSI to develop a mosque and its ecosystem for the progress and welfare of people and the nation.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the evolution of the role of al hisbah in the financial sector, especially the capital markets industry. Along with the times and the increasing complexity of today's government bureaucracy, the role of al hisbah has been formed differently in each country according to their respective needs. This research uses an exploratory qualitative method with secondary data. The research results show that the role of al hisbah is very complex, one of which is in the financial sector of the capital market to carry out supervision in order to protect investors from both external and internal risks. In this case, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) plays the role of al hisbah which coordinates with the National Sharia Council (DSN) to ensure transactions and activities in the Indonesian Islamic capital market are safe and healthy.

Abstract

Information about non-halal labels is regulated by Law No. 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Guarantees. Article 93 states that products originating from prohibited materials must include non-halal details in the form of images, writing, or the name of the material with a different color in the composition of the material, for example red. In 2014, the Head of the Halal Registration and Certification Center at the BPJPH Ministry of Religion explained that his party would regulate the use of non-halal labels for non-halal products in the Minister of Religion regulations. However, until now, this plan has not been realized. official non-halal labels in restaurants in Indonesia as an effort to protect consumers. This research aims to design an official non-halal label to be applied in restaurants based on three categories: non-halal, halal in registration, and Halal be confirmed. The method used is descriptive qualitative and the label design method uses a Visual Communication Design approach which will be posted in restaurants and eateries. The research results are label concepts that will be applied in restaurants. By designing labels that are easy to see and read, this research seeks to increase the clarity of information and protect Muslim consumers.

Abstract

Farmers in the Gunungkidul Regency are mostly categorized as impoverished. Resource constraints make it challenging for them to progress. One of the problems they face is the lack of capital for their businesses and daily needs. To meet these needs, they often resort to borrowing from loan sharks. This occurs partly due to the absence of assets they can use to access financing from Sharia-compliant financial institutions. This research aimed to assess the feasibility of biological assets, particularly teak trees (Tectona grandis), to be accepted as collateral in Sharia-compliant financing. Additionally, this study aimed to provide an alternative for developing Sharia-compliant financial inclusion in Indonesia. The research employed financial inclusion theory and biological asset appraisal methods using the IRR and NPV formulas. The IRR and NPV calculations revealed that biological assets, such as teak trees, can serve as an alternative for promoting Sharia-compliant financial inclusion in the Gunungkidul regency. Moreover, teak trees are suitable collateral for farmers seeking financing from Sharia-compliant financial institutions. The research results indicated that teak trees can be incorporated into Sharia-compliant financing schemes, such as Rahn and Mudarabah. This study is expected to enhance Sharia-compliant financial inclusion, as, until now, Sharia-compliant financial institutions have not included the potential of biological assets, particularly teak trees, as acceptable collateral in their financing practices.

Abstract

The study investigates the performance of Indonesian Islamic Commercial Banks through a comprehensive analysis encompassing multiple critical dimensions. By examining key performance indicators such as corporate governance, financial profitability, capital structure, and reputation risk, the research provides a holistic evaluation of these financial institutions. The investigation leverages authorized rating agency assessments, specifically from Pefindo, to gauge the banks' stability and market positioning. Additionally, the study integrates the Indonesian Sharia Stock Index (ISSI) as a benchmark, focusing on Sharia-compliant bank stocks to understand their market dynamics. A distinctive aspect of the research is its multifaceted company valuation approach, which analyzes book value, market value, and intrinsic value. This methodology offers nuanced insights into the banks' current performance and future potential within the capital market. The primary findings reveal that accredited agency ratings and ISSI inclusion serve as robust indicators of Islamic banks' operational health. Moreover, the analysis demonstrates a significant correlation between stock prices and the fundamental financial performance of these banking institutions
