Abstract

Waqf-based educational institutions are currently still in the "low" category, according to Indonesia's National Waqf Index (IWN) report. In this case, pesantren is an educational institution that was mostly established with waqf assets and has recently experienced fairly good development; pesantren are also categorized as waqf-based schools and were established by nadzir to waqf managers, currently totaling 26.23% of the total number of schools in Indonesia. This waqf-based school still has shortcomings in its management, as seen from its small development. The relatively low number of the National Waqf Index (IWN) occurs because philanthropists currently do not see good results from waqf management. Of the various purposes for which waqf assets are allocated, pesantren is one of the choices for which nadzir can endow their assets. However, there are still many obstacles found in management, and in general, they must be overcome by waqf managers. The method of analysis in this research uses descriptive literature analysis and primary data from semi-structured interviews in the in-depth interview category. Moreover, the results of the analysis found various important principles and steps of risk management according to Islam. They included the benefits of risk management for waqf-based pesantren by applying Islamic management and risk management. The implementation uses the principles of Islamic management and applies the initial planning stages of risk management. Pesantren must also follow the development of government schools so that they can compete and walk together for the advancement of education.

Abstract

This paper discusses Indonesian Baitul Maal wat-Tamwil product innovations. BMT is still seen as exclusive, especially for micro, small, and medium enterprises. BMT still lacks dissemination. Its products also resemble banks'. Thus, it affects public perception of banking's equality with BMT. BMT is more complicated and easier than banking. BMT is everywhere but rarely used. Thus, MSME financing needs innovation. BMT's financing products should be promoted through new innovations and increased dissemination. Thus, banking products will differ from non-bank financial products in the future. Qualitative, descriptive-analytic, data-source-adapted data collection is used in this study. Interviews and observations collected data. Literature studies provided secondary data. After revising, reducing, analyzing, and presenting the data, conclusions and research results were written. This study found that BMT's Mudharabah Empowerment Card (MEC) can solve MSMEs' non-bank financial institution financing problems.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the evolution of the role of al hisbah in the financial sector, especially the capital markets industry. Along with the times and the increasing complexity of today's government bureaucracy, the role of al hisbah has been formed differently in each country according to their respective needs. This research uses an exploratory qualitative method with secondary data. The research results show that the role of al hisbah is very complex, one of which is in the financial sector of the capital market to carry out supervision in order to protect investors from both external and internal risks. In this case, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) plays the role of al hisbah which coordinates with the National Sharia Council (DSN) to ensure transactions and activities in the Indonesian Islamic capital market are safe and healthy.

Abstract

This study analyzes the urgency of establishing a World Class Takāful Operator(WCTO), initiated by the National Committee on Islamic Finance and Economics (KNEKS). This is due to several reasons, including a deadline for work plans and the separation of Sharia Units in 2024, risk mitigation support to Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), preparation of the ASEAN Framework Agreement On Services (AFAS) in 2025, strengthening halal value chain and improvement of the national insurance image. Using qualitative descriptive analysis, this study recommends the ideal concept (models, mechanisms, market segmentation and distribution channels) for WCTO formation. The ideal concept for WCTO requires the combination of social and commercial insurance, consolidation with portfolio transfers, retail and corporate balance and existing distribution channels with digitalization. This finding becomes a new insight into takafful literature.

Abstract

The study aims to analyze the influence of the distribution of Zakat, Infaq, Sedekah, and Other Religious Social Funds (ZIS-DSKL) and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth on the poverty rate in Indonesia for the period 2015-2022. The data used are secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency and the Center for Data and Information Systems of the Indonesian Ministry of Trade. The analysis method employed is multiple regression. The analysis findings suggest a significant impact of the distribution of ZIS-DSKL funds and GDP growth on the poverty rate in Indonesia. The poverty rate in Indonesia can be decreased by increasing the distribution of ZIS-DSKL funds and promoting GDP growth, as revealed by their respective influences. It is important to raise public awareness about zakat obligations, ensure transparency in fund management, and carefully select programs aimed at alleviating poverty to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of ZIS-DSKL fund distribution. The government needs to continue promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth through pro-investment policies, infrastructure development, access to education and skills training, and strengthening potential economic sectors. Further research is necessary to understand the relationship between the distribution of ZIS-DSKL funds, GDP growth, and the poverty rate in Indonesia, providing deeper insights and more accurate data to formulate more effective policies to address poverty in Indonesia.

Abstract

This systematic literature review examines the development of Indonesia's halal industry, focusing on the role of innovation and its contribution to export potential. Through a comprehensive analysis of 17 recent studies (2019-2024), the research investigates key innovations driving industry development and their impact on enhancing Indonesia's position in the global halal market. The review identifies several significant innovations, including digital traceability systems, the Penta Helix collaboration model, specialized halal industrial zones, and simplified certification processes. These innovations have demonstrated substantial contributions to export growth through improved product quality, enhanced market access, and strengthened competitive advantages. The findings reveal that successful export expansion requires a comprehensive approach to innovation encompassing technological advancements, process improvements, and strategic market development. The study highlights the importance of stakeholder collaboration, regulatory framework development, and sustainability integration in driving industry growth. While challenges remain, particularly in standardization and regulatory compliance, the research suggests that continued innovation across all aspects of the halal industry is crucial for maintaining and expanding Indonesia's export potential in the increasingly competitive global halal market. The review contributes to the understanding of how innovation drives halal industry development and provides practical implications for stakeholders seeking to enhance Indonesia's position in the global halal trade.

Abstract

The fintech lending industry, as in non-bank financial institutions in Indonesia, has faced several problems, such as low financial literacy, constraints on the information system, weak scoring system, users data leakage, technology gaps with Islamic banks, and cases of default that make lenders disappointed and share it through social media. Although there are many problems, it does not reduce the intention of the lenders to lend their money through peer-to-peer lending as an alternative investment place. This research uses a quantitative descriptive method with the Partial Least Square - Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) technique. The study is conducted on 250 lenders in Indonesia who lend through Islamic peer-to-peer lending. Based on the results, lenders' intention is influenced by factors of effort expectancy, habit, and hedonic motivation. The lenders found that lending their money will improve their profit and make it easy to use. Meanwhile, facilitating conditions, habits, and behavioral intentions directly affect user behavior to continue to choose the Islamic peer-to-peer lending service that is already being used. The acceptance and use of lenders to use Islamic peer-to-peer lending are influenced by effort expectancy, habit, hedonic motivation, facilitating conditions, and behavioral intentions. This study is expected to be a recommendation for the financial technology industry to improve its services and facilities for users, particularly for lenders. In addition, this research can be an additional reference for regulators to make regulations related to Islamic financial technology, particularly for lenders in fintech lending.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The Indonesian Sharia Capital Market is an interesting thing to study because based on the 2019 Global Islamic Finance Report (GIFR) report, Indonesia is ranked first in the Global Sharia Financial Market. The Jakarta Islamic Index (JII) is the sharia stock index that was first launched on the Indonesian capital market on July 3, 2000 and only consisted of the 30 most liquid Islamic shares listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. This study will try to uncover how the relationship between macroeconomic variables in Indonesia by using Vector Autoregression (VAR) analysis and using monthly secondary data from 2012-2019. VAR analysis which has advantages including multivariate, free from spurious endogeneity and exogeneity variables and can detect relationships between variables in the equation system. The results of this study indicate that the JII of the previous period and the BI Rate have a positive influence on JII, while inflation and the Rupiah-US Dollar Exchange rate have a negative relationship with JII. The implication of the results of this study is to strengthen the rupiah price which greatly affects JII. Keywords: Shariah stock, JII, Macroeconomics, VAR.
