Abstract

Aggressive behavior in adolescents is a significant issue, including in the Islamic boarding school environment. One factor that can influence aggressiveness is authoritarian parenting, which is characterized by tight control and minimal communication between parents and children. This study aims to analyze the relationship between authoritarian parenting and aggressive behavior in students at the Aulia Cendekia Palembang Islamic Boarding School. This study uses a quantitative method with a correlational type. Respondents in the study were 49 MTs level students, who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test. The results showed a significant relationship, namely r count 0.612> r table 0.281 with a significance level <0.001 <0.05. Thus, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) can be accepted with the specified significance level. This means that the higher the authoritarian parenting pattern applied by parents, the higher the tendency for aggressive behavior in students.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to identify the factors contributing to the occurrence of Duta crimes in Kayuagung, OKI, and to explore the social motives of the perpetrators. This study uses a field research approach with a qualitative, descriptive methodology. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of this research were four individuals. The findings indicate that the main social motives driving Duta crimes in Kayuagung include economic pressures, social environmental influences, and the pursuit of social status, such as assisting the local community or contributing to the construction of mosques, prayer rooms, and roads. Economic hardships often compel individuals to seek quick ways of making money, while influences from the social environment, such as peer groups and family, significantly shape criminal behavior. Additionally, the desire for social status and recognition within the community serves as a key motivator. This research underscores the need for comprehensive social interventions, including economic empowerment, education, and the reinforcement of social values, to help reduce crime in society.

Abstract

Deviant sexual orientation, particularly same-sex attraction, is a complex issue that often results from various internal and external factors. This research formulates several key issues: what is the form of deviant sexual orientation in the subject, what factors cause this deviant sexual orientation, and how can Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) be applied to address it? This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, focusing on a subject, referred to as "client 'R'," who is an inmate at the Class II A Palembang Women's Prison. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis involves pattern matching, explanation, and time series analysis. The findings indicate that client 'R' exhibits deviant sexual orientation, specifically a lesbian attraction to other women. The factors contributing to this behavior include environmental influences such as the absence of men in the prison and the lack of private spaces for inmates to fulfill their sexual needs with lawful partners. After five counseling sessions using REBT, client 'R' began to recognize that her behavior was against her natural inclinations as a Muslim and that it was strongly opposed by religious beliefs. Additionally, she became aware of the negative consequences, including the potential alienation from her family and exposure to health risks like HIV/AIDS. As a result, client 'R' showed a willingness to change her irrational (lesbian) mindset into a more rational one, guided by her values and understanding of the consequences.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the application of self-talk techniques in overcoming barriers to interpersonal communication in client "H". Interpersonal communication is a direct interaction between two or more people in which a message can be conveyed and responded to directly. Interpersonal communication barriers occur when communication between two or more people does not go smoothly. This is caused by factors that interfere with one of the stages in the communication process, so that the communication that takes place becomes ineffective. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach using the case study research method. The data collection techniques used in this study are observation, interview, and documentation methods. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used in this study is the data analysis method of Robert K Yin's case study. The results of this study show that the cause of client "H" having interpersonal communication barriers is that client "H" has limitations in self-expression, uncertainty in message delivery, discomfort in communication, and anxiety about the judgment of others. After applying the self-talk technique, there was a significant change in client "H", namely, where client "H" became more confident in expressing his opinion, more able to express his feelings clearly, and more open in establishing relationships with others. Based on the results of the application of the self-talk technique to overcome the interpersonal communication barriers of client "H", it can be concluded that this technique is effective or successful in overcoming the barriers to interpersonal communication.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse how fathers play a role in shaping the prosocial behaviour of adolescents in Lubuk Karet Village. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of three fathers with teenage children aged 12-18 years. The results of the study indicate that the role of fathers in parenting, whether through example, advice, or emotional support, contributes positively to the formation of prosocial behaviour in children. However, time constraints due to work demands pose a challenge in optimising the role of fathers. Nevertheless, children who receive more attention from their fathers tend to exhibit stronger prosocial attitudes compared to those with minimal interaction with their fathers. The conclusion of this study emphasises that the role of fathers is crucial in shaping prosocial behaviour in adolescents. Therefore, greater awareness among fathers is needed to actively participate in parenting, along with support from the social environment to enhance father-child interaction.
