Abstract

In line with the 21st century learning of education, 2013 Curriculum (k-13) highlights the development of critical thinking, problem analyzing, problem solving, decision making, and creating something new. It requires teachers to use the new paradigm in designing the lesson plan as well as the assessment, which indicate Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS). However, the implementation does not work properly as planned. Therefore this research aimed to analyze the implementation of Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) in terms of designing the content of lesson plans and assessments at SMA Negeri 2 Banjar. This was a qualitative research employing a document study design. The subject of this study was the English teacher in SMA Negeri 2 Banjar. The data were collected qualitatively through observation, documentation and interview. The results showed that Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) was not expressed in the whole of the lesson plan and the assessment, it was covered in several parts of the lesson plan as well as the assessment. The results has the implication for the English teacher to develop the implementation of Higher Order Thinking (HOT) in the content of the lesson plan and assessment holistically.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengetahui topik yang di butuhkan untuk mengembangkan buku cerita dwibahasa anak-anak yang dapat digunakan sebagai media pengajaran membaca di SDN 3 Banjar Jawa, (2) mengetahui nilai-nilai yang dibutuhkan dalam buku cerita dwibahasa anak-anak untuk mengembangkan karakter siswa dan (3) mengetahui kualitas dari buku cerita bilingual anak-anak yang di kembangkan. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV SD di SDN 3 Banjar Jawa. Data penelitian ini diperoleh dengan menggunakan lembar observasi, wawancara, kuesioner, ceklis, rubrik, dan catatan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian R & D (penelitian dan pengembangan) yang diikuti beberapa prosedur berdasarkan model dari Sugiyono (2009), yaitu mengidentifikasi potensi dan masalah, pengumpulan data, merancang produk, validasi desain produk, revisi produk desain, uji coba produk, dan revisi produk. Dengan demikian pada akhir penelitian ini, ada prototipe dari buku cerita dwibahasa anak-anak. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada tiga jenis buku cerita dwibahasa anak-anak yang dikembangkan dengan tema pengenalan, sekolah dan keluarga. Setiap buku cerita dwibahasa anak-anak terdiri dari empat belas sampai dengan lima belas halaman dan pendidikan karakter dimasukkan ke dalam cerita. Pada kualitas media, ditemukan bahwa buku cerita dwibahasa anak-anak yang dikembangkan dikategorikan sebagai media yang sangat baik. Dengan demikian, buku cerita dwibahasa anak-anak sangat tepat untuk digunakan sebagai media untuk mengajar membaca pada siswa kelas IV SD.Kata Kunci : buku cerita bilingual, pendidikan karakter, membaca, mengajar bahasa Inggris untuk anak-anak This research aimed to (1) know the topic that are needed to develop a bilingual children storybook at SDN 3 Banjar Jawa, (2) know the values are needed to develop the student’s character in the bilingual children storybook and (3) know the qualities of the developed bilingual children storybook. The subject of this research was the fourth grade students of elementary school at SDN 3 Banjar Jawa. The data of this research were obtained by using observation sheet, interview guidelines, item of questionnaire, checklist, rubric, and notes. This research was R & D (research and development) which followed several procedures based on Sugiyono, (2009) model namely identifying potency and problem, collecting data, designing product, validating design product, revising design product, trying-out product, and revising product. Thus, there was a prototype of bilingual children storybook in the end of this research. The result of this research showed that there were three kinds of character bilingual children storybook developed with the theme introduction, school and family. Each bilingual children storybook consisted of fourteen up to fifteen pages and was inserted character education in its story. For the quality of the media, it was found that the bilingual children storybook developed was categorized as excellent media. Thus, it was proper to be used as a media for teaching reading at fourth grade students of elementary school. keyword : bilingual story book, character education, reading, teaching English for young learners

Abstract

Penelitian ini difokuskan untuk menganalisis tindak tutur kata yang digunakan oleh guru bahasa Inggris dan siswa kelas sepuluh Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan. Itu difokuskan pada tiga pertanyaan, yaitu tindakan locutionary (tindakan verbal), ilokusi (niat), dan perlocutionary (respon) yang dihasilkan selama kegiatan pembelajaran EFL di Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan 1 di Singaraja. Desain penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa SMA dan guru Bahasa Inggris SMK N 1 Singaraja. Para guru dan siswa menggunakan tindak tutur hampir setiap saat. Data dikumpulkan melalui mengamati proses pembelajaran dengan merekam audio-video. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan cara mengamati, mengklasifikasikan, dan menarik kesimpulan. Temuan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa guru Bahasa Inggris dan siswa menggunakan tindak tutur dalam kegiatan sehari-hari mereka di kelas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis tindak tutur yang paling dominan pada pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di kelas ini adalah tipe arahan, terutama yang meminta. Secara umum, guru lebih sering menggunakannya untuk memberi perintah, saran, dan permintaan.Kata Kunci : Kata kunci: tindak tutur, lokusi, ilokusi, perlokusi, EFL This study were focused on analyzing speech acts used by the English teachers and tenth grade students of Senior Vocational High School. It was focused on three questions, they were, the locutionary (the verbal acts), illocutionary (the intention), and perlocutionary (the response) acts produced during EFL learning activities at the Senior Vocational School 1 at Singaraja. The research design was descriptive qualitative. The subject were Senior Vocational High school students and English teachers of SMK N 1 Singaraja. The teachers and students used speech acts almost in every moment. The data were collected through observing the learning process by recording an audio-video. The data were analyzed descriptively by means observing, classifying, and drawing the conclusion. The finding of this study shows that the teacher of English and students used speech acts in their daily activity in the classroom. The results showed that most dominant type of speech acts on English teaching and learning at this class is directive type, particularly requesting. Generally, the teacher more often used them to give command, suggestion and request.keyword : Key words: speech acts, locutionary, illocutionary, perlocutionary, EFL.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan persepsi guru- guru terhadap penggunaan pendekatan sientifik dalam mengajar bahasa inggris berdasarkan kurikulum 2013 yang berhubungan dengan kompetensi siswa-siswa di SMAN 1 Sawan dan kompetensi ssiwa setelah diajar menggunakan pendekatan sientifik berdasrkan kurikulum 2013. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah dua orang guru dan 52 siswa di kelas XI BABUD 1 dan XI BABUD 2. Peneliatian ini dirancang menggunakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian menjunjukkan bahwa: (1) guru-guru memiliki perspesi yang positive terhadap terhadap penggunaan pendekatan sientifik dalam mengajar bahasa inggris berdasarkan kurikulum 2013 yang berhubungan dengan kompetensi siswa-siswa di SMAN 1 Sawan. Guru-guru tersubut juga sudah mengimplementasikan konsep dari pendekatan sientifik dan konsep dari kurikulum 2013 pada proses belajar mengajar mereka. Skore komulative juga menunjukan bahwa guru-guru tersebut memiliki perspsi yang positive terhadap penggunaan pendekatan sientifik dalam mengajar bahasa inggris berdasarkan kurikulum 2013 yang berhubungan dengan kompetensi siswa-siswa, (2) hasil nilai afektif, kognitive, dan psikomotor dari siswa-siswa guru 1 dan 2 buruk. Hasil dari kompetensi siswa-siswa guru 1 menunjukan bahwa murid-murid mendapatkan kategori C- untuk nilai kognitive mereka berdasarkan nilai rata-rata. Mereka juga mendapatkan kategori B- untuk nilai psikomotor mereka dan kategori C (cukup) untuk nilai afektive mereka. Hasil dari kompetensi siswa-siswa guru 2 menunjukan bahwa murid-murid mendapatkan categoro B- untuk nilai psikomotor mereka, kategori B untuk nilai kognitive mereka, dan kategori C (cukup) untuk nilai afektive mereka. Kata Kunci : Persepsi guru-guru, Pendekatan sientifik, Kurikulum 2013, Kompetensi Bahasa Inggris This study aimed at finding the teachers’ perception toward the use of scientific approach in teaching English based on Curriculum 2013 in relation to students’ competency at SMA Negeri 1 Sawan and the student’s competency after teaching and learning process using scientific approach based on Curriculum 2013. The subjects of the study were two teachers and 52 students in XI BABUD 1 and XI BABUD 2. This study was designed by using descriptive qualitative research. The result of the research shows that: (1) the teachers had positive perception toward the use of scientific approach in teaching English based on curriculum 2013 in relation to students’ competency at SMA Negeri 1 Sawan. Those teachers had also implemented the concept of scientific approach and Curriculum 2013 in their teaching learning process. The cumulative score also showed that those teachers had a very positive perception toward the use of scientific approach in teaching English based on Curriculum 2013 in relation to students’ competency, (2) the T1 and T2’s students affective, cognitive, and psychomotor result was bad. The result of T1’s competency of students showed that the students got C- category for their cognitive from their average score. They also got B- for their psychomotor and C (sufficient) for their affective. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengivestigasi apakah ada perbedaan atau tidak terhadap prestasi belajar menulis deskriptif teks para siswa di kelas tujuh dengan menggunakan Movie Clips. Desain yang digunakan adalah Post-test Only Control Group Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah para siswa kelas tujuh di SMP Negeri 1 Mengwi. One intact group cluster random sampling technique digunakan untuk mendapatkan sampel. Terdapat dua kelompok sampel dalam penelitian ini yaitu kelompok eksperimen yang diajarkan menggunakan Movie Clips dan kelompok Kontrol yang tidak diajarkan menggunakan Movie Clips. Data dikumpulkan melalui post-test yang dimana dilaksanakan setelah kedua kelompok mendapatkan perlakuan berbeda sebanyak sembilan pertemuan. Setelah itu, data dianalisis menggunakan descriptive statistical analysis dan inferential analysis. Hasil dari descriptive statistical analysis menunjukkan bahwa kelompok eksperimen memperoleh hasil yang lebih baik dalam menulis dimana nilai rata-rata kelompok eksperimen adalah 79,26 sedangkan nilai kelompok kontrol adalah 76,02. Selanjutnya, berdasarkan pengujian hypothesis dalam inferential analysis, didapatkan nilai t hitung = 2.032 (tobs) lebih tinggi daripada nilai t tabel dengan nilai t tabel yaitu 1.996 (tcv) dengan standard alpha level (α = .05). Hal tersebut berarti hypothesis awal ditolak demi alternative hypothesis. Oleh karena itu, bisa dipastikan bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan terhadapt prestas belajar para siswa di kelas tujuh dalam menulis deskriptif teks berbantuan Movie Clips di SMP Negeri 1 Mengwi di tahun ajaran 2017/2018. Kata Kunci : menulis deskriptif, movie clips, prestasi menulis This study was aimed at investigating whether or not there was a significant effect on the seventh grade students’ descriptive writing achievement by using Movie Clips. The Post-test Only Control Group Design was used as the research design. The population for this study was seventh grade students in SMP Negeri 1 Mengwi. One intact group cluster random sampling technique was used in selecting the sample for the study. There were two groups of sample for this study, namely experimental group which was taught by using Movie Clips and control group which was not taught by using Movie Clips. The data for this study were gathered through the post-test which conducted after those two groups were given different treatment for nine meetings. After that, the research data were analyzed by using descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. The result of descriptive statistical analysis showed that the experimental group had better performance in writing where the experimental group’s mean score was 79.26 while the control group’s mean score was 76.02. Furthermore, based on the hypothesis testing in inferential statistical analysis, it was found that the t observed of 2.032 (tobs) was higher than the t critical value of 1.996 (tcv) at standard alpha level (α = .05). It means the null hypothesis was rejected in favor of the alternative hypothesis. Therefore, it could be confirmed that there was a significant effect on students’ descriptive writing achievement by using Movie Clips in seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Mengwi in Academic Year 2017/2018.keyword : descriptive writing, movie clips, writing achievement

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada pengaruh yang signifikan dari media audio visual pada kemampuan berbicara siswa di SMA N 1 Sawan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimental yang menggunakan post-test only control group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah 248 siswa dan sampel penelitian ini adalah kelas X IPA 1 dan kelas X IPB 1, di mana 36 siswa kelas X IPA 1 berada dalam kelompok eksperimen dan kelas X IPB 1 yang terdiri dari 36 siswa berada dalam kelompok kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah tes berbicara, rencana pelajaran dan rubrik berbicara untuk menilai siswa berbicara. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dan inferensial dengan menggunakan program SPSS 24. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa skor rata-rata kelompok eksperimen adalah 78,61 sedangkan skor rata-rata kelompok kontrol adalah 73,88. Ini berarti bahwa skor rata-rata pada kelompok eksperimen lebih tinggi daripada skor rata-rata pada kelompok kontrol. Hasil uji t menunjukkan 0,039 (Sig.2-tailed). Ini menunjukkan ada pengaruh signifikan media audio visual pada kemampuan berbicara siswa di SMA N 1 Sawan. Disarankan bahwa guru bahasa Inggris yang memiliki masalah serupa harus mencoba menggunakan media audio visual untuk mengajar berbicara. Kata Kunci : berbicara, mengajar berbicara, media audio visual ABSTRACT This study aimed to investigate whether there was a significant effect of audio visual media on the students’ speaking ability at SMA N 1 Sawan. The present study was an experimental research that used post-test only control group design. The population of this study were 248 students and the sample of this study was class X IPA 1 and class X IPB 1, where 36 students of class X IPA 1 was in experimental group and class X IPB 1 that consisted of 36 students was in control group. The instruments used for collecting the data were speaking test, lesson plan, teaching scenario for the treatment and speaking rubric for assessing speaking. The data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially by using SPSS 24 program. The result of the study showed that the mean of experimental group was 78.61 while the mean of control group was 73.88. It means that mean score in the experimental group is higher than mean score in control group. The result of t test showed .039 (Sig.2-tailed). This indicated there is a significant effect of audio visual media on the students’ speaking ability at SMA N 1 Sawan. It is suggested that English teachers who have similar problems should try using audio visual media for teaching speaking. keyword : speaking, teaching speaking, audio visual media

Abstract

Sejalan dengan perkembangan pendidikan abad 21 yang saat ini menekankan pada berpikir kritis, analisis masalah, pemecahan masalah, pengambilan keputusan, dan penciptaan sesuatu yang baru. Hal ini menuntut guru untuk menggunakan paradigma baru dalam merancang RPP yang menunjukkan Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Pelaksanaannya tidak berjalan sesuai rencana. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi isi RPP terkait indikator Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS). Desain penelitian kualitatif dengan studi dokumen digunakan untuk menganalisis data. Data diperoleh secara kualitatif dengan melakukan observasi, analisis dokumen, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) tidak tercantum dalam keseluruhan RPP tetapi hanya terdapat di beberapa bagian. Aspek terintegrasi HOTS adalah kompetensi dasar dan indikator. Hasil ini berimplikasi pada guru bahasa Inggris untuk mengembangkan penerapan Higher Order Thinking (HOTS) dalam isi RPP.

Abstract

The learning process is influenced by various factors. One of the important factors is the learning media as a supporter of the learning process, especially in learning ESP subjects. This study aimed to developed English materials for Front Office based on student’s need analyses. The subjects of this research were one teacher at SMK Negeri 2 Singaraja as the head of the front office at the school, 35 students in the second semester in class 12 AP2 of SMK Negeri 2 Singaraja, and one of the front office staff who worked at Kutabex Hotel. A questionnaire and a checklist used as the instrument to obtaining the data in this study. The method of this research used the Design and Development (D&D) model. The data has been analyzed with descriptive qualitative research. The result shows that the findings are (1) the study was developed three topics, namely: handling group guest check-in, handling group guest check out, and financial transaction based on the student’s need. (2) The design of English materials contains input, content focus, language focus, and task. In the task, the design included four English basic skills, namely: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. (3) The quality of the product belongs to very good quality based on the result of two expert judges.

Abstract

E-learning has significantly influenced the educational field. Education currently utilizes e-learning as one of the learning systems that facilitate students and teachers' learning process is distanced or traditional, or even in blended learning. One of the platforms used is the Undiksha Moodle E-learning Platform used in the pedagogical courses. This study aimed to identify students' perception of the use of the Undiksha Moodle E-learning platform. This discussion focuses on the effectiveness offered in the use of the Undiksha Moodle E-learning platform. This study is a case study involving 15 English Language Education students. This study's object is students' perception of using the Undiksha Moodle E-learning platform in the pedagogical courses. Data collections were done with questionnaires and semi-structured interviews to see the suitability of perceptions expressed by students. Data analysis is conducted qualitatively supported with quantitative data by considering the questionnaires' results and interpreting the data obtained. This study showed that English Language Education students have a positive perception of using Undiksha Moodle E-learning. The findings on the effectiveness of the use of the Undiksha Moodle E-learning platform used amounted to 4,173. That indicates that students strongly agree that the platform is effectively used in pedagogical courses.
