Abstract

Ecotourism can promote sustainable tourism by conserving nature and empowering local communities, but meaningful participation faces challenges like lack of trust, limited capacity, and uneven benefit distribution. This study develops a participatory, community-centered framework to enhance community engagement in ecotourism, identifying key factors such as social capital, participatory governance, equitable benefit-sharing, capacity building, and institutional support. The framework emphasizes culturally sensitive approaches, valuing local wisdom, and empowering communities as agents of change. Key components include power-sharing, meaningful dialogue, joint learning, and sustainable institutional mechanisms like multi-stakeholder partnerships, dialogue platforms, participatory monitoring systems, and equitable benefit-sharing. Recommendations for practitioners and policymakers focus on adopting bottom-up approaches, strengthening social capital, and developing inclusive institutional mechanisms. Further empirical research is needed to validate the framework and address the dynamics of specific community groups. This study advances understanding of community participation in ecotourism and offers practical guidance for inclusive, sustainable tourism development.

Abstract

This study aims to examine some factors affecting the financial performance of manufacturing companies in the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). This research uses data on the financial statements of 20 manufacturing companies listed on IDX in the period 20132017 and carried out share distribution facilities for their employees. This research model is a panel regression model done by testing the common effect model, fixed-effect model, and random effect model. Based on the Chow test and Hausman test, it is found that the best model in this study is the fixed effect model. The study results find that dividend policy, a share giving program to employees, and debt to equity ratio are significant factors affecting the financial performance of manufacturing companies in Indonesia. From these three factors, the debt to equity ratio is the dominant factor determining the financial performance of manufacturing companies, while investment decision does not significantly affect it. Future research studies can be carried out by focusing on other industrial sectors such as the Jakarta Islamic Index 70 and adding other macroeconomic variables.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the impact of macroeconomic variables—namely inflation and exchange rates—on Indonesian gold spot prices from 1995 to 2018, employing the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model. The study seeks to comprehend the short-term and long-term correlations among these variables. Time series data were obtained from the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency, Index Mundi, and the Gold Price Chart. The findings indicate that, in the near term, inflation negatively and significantly affects gold prices, however, in the long term, it positively and significantly influences them. Likewise, the exchange rate exerts a substantial and adverse impact in both the short and long run, suggesting that a stronger Rupiah generally elevates gold prices. The ARDL model validates the existence of a cointegrated relationship among the variables, corroborated by the limits testing methodology. Diagnostic assessments confirm the stability and reliability of the calculated model. These findings indicate that the regulation of inflation and exchange rates is essential for maintaining gold price stability in Indonesia.

Abstract

Poverty is one of the most fundamental problems in Indonesia. This is because the poverty rate in Indonesia is still high. This research aims to determine the effect of inequality and government expenditure on the poverty rate in Indonesia. This study uses time series data from 1990 to 2023, using Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) analysis. The results of the data analysis show that in the short term inequality has a negative and significant effect on the poverty rate, but in the long term inequality has a positive and insignificant effect on the poverty rate. Government expenditure variables in the short and long term have a negative and significant effect on the poverty rate in Indonesia. It is expected that the Indonesian Government can continue to reduce the poverty rate by broadening business opportunities, empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) and increasing the level of education in order to improve the quality of human resources which will be able to reduce the poverty rate in Indonesia.
