Abstract

Maitara Island has enormous natural resource potential to be developed as a tourist destination. One of the very potential is the Coral Reef ecosystem. This study aims to see the condition of reef fish on Maitara Island based on the Ecological Index. The study was carried out in June - July 2020. Data collection for reef fish using the Visual Method Census method included three (3) roles of fish, namely the role of major fish, indicators and targets. Data analysis in the form of Abundance, Diversity and Dominance. The results showed that the three roles of fish with a total of 86 species from 9 families. Major fish as many as 51 species consisting of families Pomacentridae (9 species), Caesoinidae (1 species), scaridae (2 species) and Labridae (7 species). The role of indicator fish is 15 species with 1 family (Chaetodontidae), and the role of target fish is 20 species consisting of 4 families (Serranidae, Siganudae, Latjunidae and Acanhuridae). The ecological index (Abundant, Diversity and Dominance) of reef fish at the study site is very low, which indicates high pressure on coral reefs and causes loss of ecological function and resilience. Utilization of coral reefs that do not pay attention to sustainability, such as taking coral reefs, haphazardly anchoring ships and bombing carried out decades ago directly impacted reef fish at the research site, where the abundance of fish at the observation station was at a value of 0.03 ind/ m2 and the diversity index does not exceed 0.5 ind/m2. The damage to the coral reefs of Maitara Island is mostly caused by anthropogenic activities, so that rehabilitation efforts must be carried out immediately to restore the condition of reef fish and protect the existence of Maitara Island from the threat of abrasion.

Abstract

Tilapia (Oreochomis niloticus) is one of Indonesia's freshwater fish which has economic value. One way to obtain optimal fish hatchery results is by improving reproductive performance, which can be increased by improving the nutritional quality of the parent feed. The nutritional elements that must be present in the main fish feed include vitamin E and fatty acids. Vitamin E has a very important and decisive role in fish reproduction, because Vitamin E functions as an antioxidant which can prevent the oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids in cells and as an antioxidant. Fatty acids present in the cell membrane can accelerate the embryogenesis process to run normally and reproduction results can be increased. Ovagrow is high-quality Vitamin E which is useful for maintaining the egg and sperm maturation process in the parent fish. Ovagrow is also useful for multiplying and improving the quality of eggs and sperm in brood fish. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving different doses of ovagrow to accelerate gonadal maturation of tilapia and to determine the effect of adding ovagrow to gonadal maturity and egg fecundity in tilapia broodstock. The research method used a completely randomized design (CRD) which consisted of 4 treatments with 3 repetitions each. Treatment A ovagrow dose 0.3 gr/1 kg feed, Treatment B ovagrow dose 0.5 gr/1 kg feed, Treatment C ovagrow dose 0.7 gr/1 kg feed and Treatment D ovagrow dose (control) 1 gr/1 kg of feed. The results showed that the TKG of tilapia with the highest percentage was in treatment A and the best fecundity of tilapia was in treatments A and D with a total average value of 541.26. Based on the results of the research conducted, it can be concluded that administration of ovagrow at different doses did not have a significant effect on the gonad maturity level of tilapia broodstock and the average fecundity of tilapia (Oreochoromis niloticus).

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Coastal ecosystems in Ternate have high biodiversity, including the macroalga Caulerpa racemosa, which contributes to ecosystem stabilization and mitigation of ocean acidification. However, environmental degradation due to human activities poses a serious threat, so analyzing the distribution and density of macroalgae is important for sustainable ecosystem management. This study aimed to analyze the distribution pattern and density of C. racemosa in Kastela and Gamalama waters, Ternate City. Data collection was conducted from May to August 2024 using the line transect method with 1x1 m quadrants in two research locations. Each site had three 50 m long transect lines with five quadrants per transect. Density was calculated based on the number of individuals per unit area, while distribution patterns were analyzed using the Morisita index (Id). Environmental data such as temperature, salinity and pH were also measured to understand the factors affecting macroalgae distribution. Spatial analysis using GIS software visualized distribution patterns. Results showed that C. racemosa had a concentrated distribution pattern (Id 1) in both study sites, with higher average densities in Kastela waters than Gamalama. Environmental factors, including temperature and substrate type, significantly influenced the distribution of this species. This study provides important data to support ecosystem-based management and sustainable coastal conservation, and fills an information gap on the impacts of ecological pressures on macroalgae in this region. Keywords:Caulerpa racemosaTernateDistributionCoastal Ecosystem
