Abstract

This study focuses on the effectiveness of using the Duolingo application in teaching vocabulary to grade XI. This study used a quasi-experimental design with two classes: experimental and control. The experimental class received treatment using Duolingo media, while the control class was taught using conventional media. Pre-tests and post-tests were used to assess improvements in students’ vocabulary. The results of the study indicate that the use of the Duolingo application is effective and can improve students’ vocabulary, as evidenced by the average score of the experimental class increasing from 78.10 to 95.5. The Mann-Whitney test showed a significant difference between the two classes (p<0.05), indicating that the use of the Duolingo application is effective in teaching vocabulary. In addition, the findings reveal that students in the experimental class demonstrated higher levels of engagement, motivation, and confidence when learning new vocabulary through the application. The interactive features of Duolingo, such as gamification and immediate feedback, contributed to a more meaningful learning experience. These advantages suggest that mobile-based language learning tools like Duolingo can play a significant role in enhancing language acquisition in formal educational settings. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers consider integrating technology-enhanced instructional media to complement traditional teaching methods in order to maximize students’ outcomes in vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

In Islam, Friday is a very special day. In Muslim belief, Friday is considered a blessed and sacred day. In addition, understanding the importance of sharing sustenance is also an important part of the teachings of Islam. One of the forms of sharing sustenance recommended in Islam is by carrying out ZISWAF (Zakat, Infaq, Shadaqah, Waqf). The utilization of Ziswaf (Zakat, Infaq, Shadaqah, and Waqf) is one of the efforts made by Muslims in realizing social justice and the economic empowerment of the people. On the other hand, the Friday Blessing phenomenon is a popular tradition among Muslims, where people compete to give alms on Friday in the hope of getting multiple blessings. In this article, the author will discuss the link between the Blessed Friday phenomenon and Ziswaf utilization. The author will explain why Blessed Friday is the right moment for Ziswaf utilization, as well as the benefits of both.

Abstract

Abstract : This research aimed at improving student’s civics learning outcomes at SDN 31 Kota Padang by using the co-op co-op type of the cooperative learning model. The result of the lesson plan analysis in cycle I was 76.78% and in cycle II was 89.28%. The result of the teachers’ activities analysis in cycle I was 71% and in cycle II was 92%. Meanwhile, the student’s learning outcome in cycle I was 72.96% and it increased in cycle II to 83.25%. Thus, the co-op co-op type of the cooperative learning model successfully improved students’ civics learning outcomes. Abstract

This study aims to describe the profile of alternative electrical energy literacy (AEEL) among West Java and East Java high school students, covering cognitive, affective, and behavioral aspects. The research procedure employed a descriptive survey method with a random sample of 237 students, consisting of 130 students from East Java and 107 students from West Java. The instruments used included a knowledge test and a questionnaire on attitudes and behaviors related to alternative electricity energy. The results show that students' affective and behavioral abilities are above average, while their cognitive skills remain below average, with significant differences between the two provinces. Students in West Java understand alternative electricity energy concepts better than students in East Java. Based on these findings, this study is a foundation for schools and policymakers to develop a curriculum focused on alternative electrical energy literacy, aiming to enhance students' understanding of renewable energy sources and prepare the younger generation to face future energy challenges.

Abstract

A new free derivative iterative method is presented in this article. The method is developed by combining Newton’s method and Euler’s method. Deriva- tives in this method are approximated by forward difference, hyperbola and divided difference. The order of convergence is proven analytically to be of sixth order. Numerical results exhibit that the new method is comparable to other methods. Basins of attraction are also provided to support the proposed method.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui strategi pengembangan objek wisata berbasis digital dalam meningkatkan daya tarik wisata alam Danau Laut Tawar di Kecamatan Teluk Dalam, Kabupaten Simeulue. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas pemanfaatan media sosial seperti Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, serta mengevaluasi tantangan dan peluang dalam implementasi strategi digitalisasi pariwisata pada destinasi tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif analisis. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi langsung, wawancara mendalam dengan informan kunci seperti Kepala Dinas Pariwisata, Kepala Desa, pelaku UMKM, dan wisatawan, serta dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan menggunakan triangulasi sebagai uji keabsahan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi promosi digital telah mulai diterapkan, meskipun masih terbatas oleh infrastruktur jaringan internet, keterbatasan anggaran, serta kurangnya pelatihan bagi masyarakat dalam pemanfaatan teknologi digital. Namun, pemanfaatan media sosial terbukti cukup efektif dalam meningkatkan eksposur objek wisata. Pembentukan Pokdarwis dan kolaborasi dengan pihak swasta menjadi peluang untuk memperkuat strategi digital ke depan. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa strategi pengembangan berbasis digital memiliki potensi besar dalam menarik wisatawan, namun perlu didukung oleh peningkatan kapasitas sumber daya manusia, infrastruktur digital, dan sinergi antar pemangku kepentingan.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is defined as an increase in blood pressure above the normal threshold, namely systolic pressure exceeding 140 mmHg and diastolic pressure exceeding 90 mmHg. This condition is generally influenced by lifestyle factors such as unhealthy eating habits, being overweight (obesity), lack of sleep, and stress. One relaxation method that can be applied to overcome sleep pattern disorders in hypertensive patients is foot massage therapy. Methods: The case study design in this research uses a descriptive method with a nursing care approach. The research subjects consisted of two patients suffering from hypertension, each aged 65 years, who both experienced similar problems, namely disturbed sleep patterns. This research was carried out in the inpatient room of the Palembang Muhammadiyah Hospital. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and filling out case study instruments during the three-day treatment period. Result: Result were obtained after non-pharmacological implementation: massage therapy (Foot Massage) in patients with sleep pattern disorders there was a decrease in sleep pattern disorders in patient 1 on the 1st day of the psqi assessment was at 10 and on the last day it was at 5. Meanwhile, in patients on the 1st day 2 of the psqi assessment was at 10 and the final result was at 5. Conclusion: The implementation of foot massage relaxation therapy can help reduce sleep pattern disorders in hypertensive patients

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the need for interactive multimedia-based teaching materials for classifying living things in order to improve students' classification and problem-solving abilities. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 8 Bayung Lencir using a descriptive method through interviews, observations, and documentation. The research results indicate that the teaching of living organism classification is still teacher-centered, with minimal use of visual and digital media, and has not yet utilized the potential of the surrounding environment. The teaching materials used are limited to textbooks with simple and non-contextual illustrations, which impact the low classification skills and weak contextual problem-solving abilities. The diverse learning styles of students and limited access to biodiversity necessitate varied, interactive, and technology-based teaching materials. The needs analysis shows that students expect teaching materials that are easy to understand (98.82%), interesting (96.47%), contextual (89.41%), independent (81.18%), and technology-based (94.12%). Additionally, 100% of teachers stated the importance of interactive multimedia teaching materials for improving students' classification and problem-solving abilities. The results of this study serve as the basis for the need to develop interactive multimedia-based teaching materials that are relevant to student characteristics and support effective, engaging, and contextual 21st-century science learning.
