Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: Nutritional status is a state of health related to the use of food by the body. As a result of poor nutritional status during infancy, it can cause stunted growth, cause toddlers to be lazy to carry out activities related to energy production, disruption of the toddler's immune system so that they  are  susceptible  to  infectious  diseases,  inhibition  of  optimal  brain  growth,  and  changes  in behavior such as apathy. Purposes: This study aimed to determine the relationship between parental income, and eating patterns in children under five with the occurrence of malnutrition in children under five in the working area of Soropia Health Center. Methods: This research was a quantitative research  that  is  observational  analytic  with  a  Cross  Sectional  Study  approach.  The  number  of samples were 50 toddler with a sampling technique using total sampling and for analysis using the Chi-Square test. Results: The results showed that there was a relationship between parental income (p=0.048) and eating patterns (p=0.000) with the nutritional status of children under five in the Soropia Health Center area in 2021. Conclusion:it was found that there was a relationship between parents' income and diet. on the nutritional status of children.Keywords: Toddler, nutritional status, parents' income, diet

Abstract

Diare adalah suatu kondisi saat seseorang buang air besar dengan konsistensi lembek atau cair, bahkan dapat berupa air saja dan frekuensinya lebih sering (biasanya tiga kali atau lebih) dalam satu hari. Mencuci tangan dengan baik dan benar bisa di katakan optimal untuk menghilangkan kuman ditangan, sehingga saat seseorang makan, dapat terhindar dari kuman di tangan yang akan masuk kedalam tubuh, yang pada akhirnya menimbulkan gejala penyakit termasuk diare. Metode edukasi ini di awali dengan pemberian pengetahuan mengenai peran cuci tangan dengan baik dan benar dalam pencegahan diare, kemudian di lanjutkan dengan kegiatan senam 6 langkah cuci tangan untuk membangunkan minat anak-anak dalam penerimaan edukasi. Sebelum di lakukan edukasi anak-anak tidak mengerti apa yang dimaksud dengan diare dan bagaimana cara mencuci tangan dengan baik dan benar. Sampel dari kegiatan kami adalah 31 siswa/siswi SDN 94 Kendari yang dianggap strategis karena pada usia ini adalah usia yang masih belum memiliki pengetahuan yang baik mengenai penyakit diare dan kemungkinan besar sudah mampu memahami pertanyaan yang akan kami berikan melalui pemberian kuisioner sebagai tolak ukur pengetahuan siswa/siswi. Setelah di lakukan kegiatan anak-anak memiliki pengetahuan mengenai penyakit diare dan bagaimana cara mencuci tangan dengan baik dan benar. masih banyak anak-anak yang tidak tahu apa yang dimaksud dengan penyakit diare, sehingga untuk pencegahan penyakit diare dengan cara yang termudah dalam kehidupan sehari-hari mereka pun belum paham yaitu dengan mencuci tangan dengan baik dan benar. Namun. Setelaah dilakukannya ragkaian kegiatan edukasi maka di dapatkan hasil bahwa semua siswa/siswi yang mengikuti jalannya kegiatan telah mengetahui apa yang dimaksud dengan penyakit diare dan bagaimana cara pencegahan penyakit diare yang paling mudah yaitu mencuci tangan dengan baik dan benar.

Abstract

Angka insidensi tuberkulosis di Indonesia masih sangat tinggi dan menjadi masalah kesehatan masyarakat yang belum terselesaikan. Pada level dunia, Indonesia berada pada urutan ke 2 dari 8 negara, dengan angka insidensi yang mencapai 1 juta kasus. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara berbagai variabel lingkungan fisik rumah dengan kejadian tuberkulosis (TB) paru di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Poasia Kota Kendari Provinsi Sulawesi Tenggara. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional dengan menggunakan pendekatan kasus kontrol. Populasi adalah pasien yang didiagnosis menderita tuberkulosis paru di Puskesmas Poasia tahun 2022. Sampel penelitian ini yaitu 36 pada kelompok kasus dan kontrol dengan penyesuaian usia. Analisis menggunakan uji Chi-square dan regresi logistik pada tingkat kepercayaan 95%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari hasil uji regresi logistik hanya variabel pencahayaan yang berhubungan bermakna dengan kejadian tuberkulosis paru (p=0,006; OR=12,087; CI 95%=2,076-70,375). Sedangkan variabel lingkungan lainnya yaitu kelembaban (p=0,235; OR=0,23; CI 95%= 0,21 - 2,598) dan ventilasi (p=0,354; OR= 2,58; CI 95%=0,347-19,212) tidak berhubungan secara signifikan dengan kejadian tuberkulosis Paru. Edukasi pada masyarakat yang terkait dengan kondisi lingkungan fisik rumah perlu dilakukan utamanya yang berkaitan dengan pencahayaan yaitu tidak menutup lubang ventilasi dan membiasakan untuk membuka jendela secara rutin.

Abstract

Pengabdian ini bertujuan memberikan pemahaman kepada masyarakat pesisir Desa Tapulaga Kecamatan Soropia Kabuapaten Konawe tentang cara penjerniahan air dengan metode Saringan  Pasir Lambat untuk mendapatkan air yang layak pakai yaitu air yang jenih/tidak keruh. Pengabdian ini menggunakan metode sosialisasi dan pelatihan, dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang bahaya penggunaan air yang tidak berkualitas serta untuk melatih mereka dalam pembuatan saringan pasir lambat (SPL) sebagai solusi untuk menjernihkan air. Metode yang digunakan meliputi ceramah dengan penggunaan laptop, power point, dan proyektor, yang dilanjutkan dengan demonstrasi praktis dalam pembuatan SPL. Evaluasi dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah pelatihan menggunakan pre-test dan post-test, serta observasi terhadap hasil pembelajaran peserta. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan responden mengenai bahaya penggunaan air yang tidak berkualitas, dengan nilai rata-rata meningkat dari 43,478 sebelum pelatihan menjadi 73,043 setelah pelatihan. Hasil observasi juga menunjukkan bahwa peserta, terutama laki-laki, mampu memahami dan mengimplementasikan pembuatan SPL untuk menjernihkan air. Simpulan, kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat memberikan solusi yang bermanfaat bagi masyarakat pesisir di Desa Tapulaga dalam mengatasi permasalahan krisis air bersih yang telah lama dihadapi. Abstract

Excessive caffeine consumption among university students can lead to negative health effects such as sleep disturbances, anxiety, and dependency. To address this issue, a workshop was conducted to introduce infused water as a healthier alternative to caffeinated beverages among students at the Faculty of Public Health, Halu Oleo University. The program aimed to increase awareness about the benefits of infused water in supporting hydration and energy levels naturally, without caffeine's side effects. The workshop utilized three methods: lectures, practical training, and informational leaflets. Lectures provided insights into the adverse effects of excessive caffeine intake and highlighted infused water's benefits, including improved hydration and detoxification. Practical training allowed participants to create infused water using natural ingredients such as lemon and cucumber, fostering hands-on engagement and encouraging immediate application of the knowledge gained. Leaflets were distributed to reinforce the material and served as a take-home guide for participants to share with others. Evaluation of the program showed a significant improvement in students' knowledge about the health risks of caffeine and their interest in adopting infused water as an alternative. Positive feedback indicated that the materials were informative and practical for daily use. Despite challenges such as limited time for practical demonstrations, the workshop successfully achieved its objectives of promoting healthier beverage choices and equipping students with practical skills to support long-term behavior change. This program demonstrates the potential of integrating educational and interactive methods to encourage healthier lifestyle habits, positioning students as agents of change within their communities.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease whose prevalence is increasing due to changes in lifestyle, especially among the younger generation, including students. Unhealthy habits such as a high-calorie diet, lack of physical activity, and high levels of stress can increase the risk of developing DM. Currently, DM is the seventh leading cause of death worldwide, with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) being the largest cause of death. Based on the Southeast Sulawesi Health Profile, DM is ranked fifth out of the ten most common diseases in Southeast Sulawesi with a total of 13,946 sufferers. The increase in the number of people with type 2 diabetes mellitus is a serious global health threat. Therefore, it is important to prevent the prevalence of DM through preventive and promotive actions. One promotional activity that can be carried out is to educate, encourage change and increase knowledge about healthy lifestyles so that the occurrence of disease or bad health conditions in the future can be prevented.

Abstract

Instant Noodle Consumption Education Among University Students is a program aimed at raising awareness of the dangers of excessive instant noodle consumption and the importance of a balanced diet. A situational analysis using a questionnaire based on the Health Belief Model (HBM) provided foundational information on students' perceptions of instant noodles, serving as the basis for developing educational media. Next, a combination of poster and educational video media was used to encourage students to limit their instant noodle consumption. Educational content was shared through the social media platform Instagram to reach a larger student audience, leveraging this platform's capacity for rapid and widespread information dissemination. The results showed an increase in students' awareness about balanced nutrition and the health impacts of instant noodles. Ongoing education is expected to help foster healthier eating habits among students.

Abstract

Between 2015 and 2020, the intake of fruits and vegetables in Indonesian people was less than 400 grams/day, which is the recommended nutritional adequacy level (RDA). The purpose of this education is to improve the knowledge of mothers at the Dahlia Posyandu about the importance of consuming fruits and vegetables. This education uses a lecture method with leaflet media. The selection of leaflet media is assumed to be easy for mothers to carry at the Posyandu. The results of the education showed that there was a significant difference between the pre and post tests which were tested using the Paired T-test statistical test, with a p value = 0.000, <0.05 meaning that there was a significant difference in knowledge before and after the intervention was given. It was concluded that education was successful in changing mothers' knowledge about fruit and vegetable consumption at the Dahlia Posyandu, Abeli District, Kendari City.

Abstract

Multiple nutrition remains a major problem in Indonesia, including among school-age children, which can affect the quality of human resources in the future. School-age children are a group that is vulnerable to nutritional problems because they need diverse food intake for optimal growth and development. The purpose of this activity is to determine the difference in students' knowledge about balanced nutrition before and after being given education through my nutrition diary media at SDS IT ALWahdah Kendari in 2024. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed both before and after education, using the Diari Giziku book media. Students who will receive education are 35 students. The assessment results of the paired sample t-test test show the p-value of knowledge (0.000) < α (0.05), attitude (0.000) < α (0.05), and motivation (0.000) < α (0.05), meaning that there is a difference in knowledge before and after being given education through my nutrition diary media, therefore it can be concluded that my nutrition diary media is a medium that can increase students' understanding of balanced nutrition.

Abstract

Pregnant women with poor nutritional status will experience nutritional imbalances that can lead to nutritional problems for pregnant women whose KEK is still higher than the WHO target. In an effort to meet the nutritional needs of mothers during pregnancy and increase the possibility of mothers giving birth to babies without LBW, PMT for pregnant women is one initiative to improve the nutrition of pregnant women. The highest number of Supplementary Food for pregnant women with KEK in Indonesia in 2023 was in West Papua, namely 139.2%, while the lowest was in West Java, namely 66.9%. One supplementation strategy to overcome nutritional problems is the provision of additional food (PMT), especially for vulnerable groups. The purpose of this socialization program is to increase awareness of pregnant women at the Dahlia Posyandu, Abeli District, about the importance of eating more to support their nutrition. Lectures accompanied by media, especially leaflets, are the techniques used. Twenty-five pregnant women attended this socialization. With statistical testing using the paired t-test, the results of the socialization showed that the average knowledge before and after receiving socialization and education was different, namely (p <0.05) or 0.000 <0.05. Therefore, it can be said that educating mothers about providing additional food (PMT) to pregnant women will help them become more knowledgeable.
