Abstract

Banyak ternak sapi yang tidak dapat mencapai bobot sekitar 350 kg. Kenyataan ini muncul pemikiran yang cukup mendasar tentang tidak dicapainya bobot optimal tersebut yaitu bahwa pemberian pakan kepada ternak sapi yang dipelihara belum memenuhi syarat baik kualitas maupun kuantitas. Hal ini dikarenakan dalam proses pencacahan pakan ternak (rumput gajah) masih menggunakan tangan sehingga panjang rumput yang dihasilkan bervariasi dan cenderung panjang-panjang dan terkadang diberikan begitu saja apa adanya tanpa dicacah terlebih dahulu. Keadaan inilah yang menyebabkan sebagian besar makanan tidak dapat dikunyah selurunya terutama pada bagian batangnya. Padahal justru pada bagian batang inilah sumber protein dan nutrisi itu berada yakni sekitar 80% dari total protein rumput gajah (Pennisetum pupureum) serta 52% TDN (Total Digestible Nutrients) ada dibagian batang rumput gajah. Untuk mendapatkan kualitas dan kuantitas pemberian pakan ternak (rumput gajah) yang cukup baik maka diperlukan proses pencacahan yang mencukupi (± 4 – 5 cm, panjangnya) sehingga produk yang dihasilkan dapat dikunyah dan dicernah dengan baik oleh ternak. Akibat rendahnya pengetahuan masyarakat terhadap ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi sampai saat ini peternak sapi masih menggunakan tangan dalam proses pencacahan pakan ternak (rumput gajah). Disamping hasilya yang kurang begitu memuaskan juga memerlukan waktu dan tenaga yang banyak dalam proses mencacah rumput gajah (Pennisetum pupureum). Permasalahan usaha peternakan ini bisa diatasi dengan membuat suatu mesin pencacah rumput sistem mekanik. Melihat kondisi masyarakat dilokasi maka pemilihan mesin pencacah rumput sistem mekanik ini menjadi prioritas utama atas dasar pertimbangan: tidak memerlukan daya listrik sehingga otomatis ongkos produksi bisa dihemat, mudah perawatan dan yang terpenting proses pencacahan rumput gajah tidak memerlukan banyak tenaga.

Abstract

Industri pembuatan  batu bata mempunyai peran yang strategis dalam rangka mendukung pembangunan di propinsi  Nusa Tenggara Barat.  Konstruksi bangunan perumahan secara umum adalah pondasi dari batu kali dan tembok dari bata merah. Proses yang menghambat produksi bata , adalah proses pencetakkannya dilakukan masih secara tradisional. Pencetakannya dilakukan dengan posisi badan membungkuk atau jongkok sehingga cepat membuat orang lelah. Sehingga produktivitas nya rendah. Selain itu proses secara manual ini, menghasilkan bata dengan kualitas rendah. Penekanan hanya dilakukan dengan jari-jari, tekanan kurang menyebabkan bata kurang padat, sehingga saat dibakar akan kropos/berongga, mudah patah, dimensi berubah. Penggunaan alat pencetak bata sistem hammer gravitasi sebagai pemecahan masalah mampu meningkatkan  kapasitas produksi bata tiga kali lipat dari semula, dan meningkatkan kualitas bata merah (kurang dari 5%  bata yang pecah).

Abstract

Dodol buah merupakan jajanan khas Lombok. Proses pembuatan dodol memerlukan tenaga fisik yang cukup berat dan menimbulkan kelelahan terutama pada saat pengadukan adonan. Hal ini dilakukan supaya dodol tersebut matang dengan sempurna. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut, maka dirancang alat pengaduk dodol otomatis yaitu menggunakan motor untuk menggerakkan alat pengaduk. Hasil uji coba menunjukkan bahwa alat pengaduk ini lebih efektif karena hasil pengadukan lebih merata dan tidak menimbulkan kerak pada wadah.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas gabah melalui penggunaan mesin pengering yang berbasis energi terbarukan di Desa Kekeri Kabupaten Lombok Barat Nusa Tenggara Barat. Metode yang digunakan meliputi sosialisasi dan demonstrasi penggunaan mesin pengering. Demonstrasi mencakup pengoperasian mesin, perawatan, serta pemanfaatan limbah pertanian sebagai sumber energi panas. Selain itu, penyuluhan dilakukan untuk memberikan pemahaman mendalam tentang manfaat dan cara penggunaan mesin pengering dalam meningkatkan kualitas dan efisiensi pengolahan gabah. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan mesin pengering signifikan dalam meningkatkan kualitas gabah, mengurangi risiko kerusakan fisik dan kontaminasi, serta meningkatkan efisiensi waktu pengeringan. Teknologi ini juga membantu petani mendapatkan produk gabah berkualitas tinggi yang memiliki daya saing lebih baik di pasaran, serta mendukung keberlanjutan lingkungan dengan pemanfaatan energi terbarukan.

Abstract

Abundant biomass waste is often thrown away. Careless disposal of waste will have a negative impact on environmental quality. Research regarding variations in composition and grain size of biomass waste charcoal briquettes on briquette performance is feasible. The aim of the research is to obtain briquettes that have high performance. The research method used was experimental research, coconut shell charcoal and rice husk charcoal, made in sizes 20 mesh, 60 mesh and 100 mesh. Then mixed with 15% starch adhesive with variations in the composition of coconut shell charcoal (TK): rice husk charcoal (SP), namely: I (75%:25%), II (50%:50%) and III (25%:75% ), After printing, the biket is dried in the sun and in the oven until it reaches a moisture content of (14-15)%. After the briquettes are dry, the heating value, flame duration and water boiling time are tested. In the calorific value test, the greater the composition (TK), the greater the calorific value produced. The highest heating value of 5937 kcal/kg was obtained from composition I, mesh 60 and the lowest heating value of 3714 kcal/kg was obtained from composition III mesh 60. The shortest flame duration of 1386.6 seconds occurred in mesh 20 composition III and the longest flame duration was 1933.2 seconds. obtained on mesh 100 composition I. In the Boilling Time test, it was found that the larger the grain size and the greater the composition of the coconut shell charcoal mixture in bioarang briquettes, the faster the water boiling time.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is utilization of coconut shell powder on Al2O3-Epoxy composite so it can be used as an alternative material of brake linings that are enviromentlly friendly. In this research, coconut shell powder is used as a filler on Al2O3-Epoxy composites that are made using hand lay up method. Comparison volume fraction of coconut shell powder and Al2O3 was varied amount 0:40, 10:30, 20:20, 30:10 and 40:0 (%). Adhesive was used is epoxy resin namely amount 60%. Test conducted is wear test. The results showed that utilization of coconut shell powder on Al2O3-Epoxy can be decrease the wear so it can be used as an alternative material of brake linings that are environmentally friendly

Abstract

This study discusses the effects of pressure in waterjet peening (WJP)  of subsoil plow chise. It was made from austenitic stainless steel 301 JIS standard S30100. Analysis of surface integrity and change of surface hardness number is used to evaluate the performance of various parameters in the WJP process. The article summarizes information about austenitic stainless steel physically-mechanical of subsoil plow chisel that is most useful for soil tillage. The subsoil chisel was given surface treatment WJP process with a variation of pressure and time. The physical properties of subsoil plow chisel from various pressure and time of  WJP are analyzed. The findings of this study indicated that surface treatment with waterjet peening could  increase the surface hardness number and the hardening  layer fromaustenitic  stainless steel 301 (material of subsoil plow chisel).Treats the surface with WJP pressure 250 MPa  and time 3 hours  results in a higher increase in surface hardness number  up to 41% and 151% greater than the raw material respectively. Also, a deeper hardening layer to depth 250 and 500 μm each produced. Next, the cross-sectional micro structure shows the density is higher than the slip band in the defective grain of specimens that have undergone the WJP process at the time and higher pressure. However, the number of slip bands in grain defects decreases with     the pressure drop.

Abstract

The bumper is one part of the vehicle that has a very important role. In addition to functioning as aerodynamics and aesthetics to attract consumers, the bumper also functions as a damper and a buffer against impact (shock/impact force) in the event of an accident. Therefore, the material used as the bumper, especially the rear bumper, is often damaged, so a material that has good tensile strength and impact toughness is needed. In this research, the object of the research is the polyester matrix composite. The research aspect is more emphasized on the effect of using Musa acuminata stem fiber (MASF) as a reinforcement and filler of Carboxyl Terminated Butadiene Acrylonitryle (CTBN) on changes in tensile strength and impact toughness. The results of the study show. the addition of MASF volume fraction and CTBN filler increased the tensile strain, impact toughness, impact energy, but decreased the tensile strength of the polyester matrix composite material. The change in mechanical properties is due to the bonding of MASF with CTBN and polyester with CTBN, so that the impact toughness and ductility of the specimen increases, because CTBN is elastic.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of shot peening on stress corrosion cracking of a low carbon steel in ocean water environment. The dimension of specimens were prepared in accordance with the ASTM G39. The hardness testing was carried out using microvickers with 0,25 kgf load in the longitudinal direction. The corrosion cracking test was immersed into artificial sea water for about 7 months. The test shows that the pitting corrosion is dominantly nucleated at the metal film interface. The biggest pitting corrosion was occurred under the static loading of 70 for the specimens unpeened. The presence of pitting corrosion promotes stress corrosion cracking. The cracking has a intergranular branched morphology which is typical for the chloride cracking of low carbon steel

Abstract

AbstractBrake is one component of a motor vehicle that serves to slow or stop the study aims to determine the value of the wear of each brand of brake drum caused by variations in the speed of the motorcycle Honda Supra X125 on the braking load 6 kg. Brake that is used in this study there are three variations of the brand is a brand HONDA GENUINE PART, ASPIRA, and KOMACHI with variations at 40, 50 and 60 km / h and braking load 6 kg. The research was conducted in two phases, namely the field of testing and measuring brake wear in the lab. Metrology using a profile projector, in addition to the Rockwell hardness testing is also performed to determine the hardness of each brand of brake lining before and after testing higher speeds with the same braking load time, braking distance and the wear rate also increased.From the research results smallest brake lining wear occurs there at a speed of 40 km / h and braking load 6 kg. Genuine Parts for the Honda brand it wear amounted to 1.574 x 10 -5 mm / sec, while the brand Aspira it wear 8.47 x 10 -5 mm / sec and brands Komachi it wear 3.500 x 10 -5 mm / sec. Largest brake wear occurs at a speed of 60 km / h and braking load 6 kg. Genuine Parts for the Honda brand is equal to 2.373 x 10 -5 mm / sec, while the brand Aspira it wear 3.626 x 10 -5 mm / sec and brands Komachi it wear 3.701 x 10 -5 mm / sec.
