Abstract

All countries in the world, both developed and developing countries, are facing pollution problems in order to be able to balance accelerating economic growth with environmental degradation problems due to their economic activities. The acceleration of economic development in Indonesia to achieve high industrial growth is directly proportional to the cause of the high increase in carbon dioxide emissions. The purpose of this study is to see the environmental impact of the regulations set, as well as to provide recommendations for the formulation of environmentally friendly economic development policies in the future. This study applies time series data regression with ECM as the method used. Indonesia was chosen as the object of the theory Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) from 1990 to 2020. The results of the study show that the squared industry variable in the short term is not significant, but in the long term, it is significant and has an effect of -0.0002, which means that the EKC hypothesis is not proven in the short and long-term, only a decrease in environmental degradation occurs. (CO2 emissions) because industry increases in the long term or industry has a significant negative effect on carbon dioxide emissions in the long term.

Abstract

Objective: This study investigates the determinants of regional economic growth in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, focusing on five districts and cities during the period 2011–2024. The research addresses the problem of persistent interdistrict disparities despite Yogyakarta’s consistently higher economic growth than the national average. The main objective is to identify the key factors influencing regional growth and to assess their relative contributions within a tourism-driven economy. This empirical research is relevant to the broader macroeconomic context of regional development and income distribution. Methods: An empirical analysis using static panel data regression with a Fixed Effect Model (FEM) is employed. The dataset covers annual observations from 2011 to 2024 for five administrative areas. Variables include Gross Fixed Capital Formation (GFCF), the Human Development Index (HDI), labor force participation, and tourism income. The FEM method effectively controls for regional and temporal heterogeneity, yielding robust estimates of growth determinants. Findings: Empirical results reveal that GFCF, HDI, and tourism income have significant, positive effects on regional economic growth, underscoring the importance of investment, human capital, and tourism as primary drivers of growth. Conversely, the labor force variable shows no statistically significant impact. These findings underscore the distinct structure of Yogyakarta’s economy, where capital formation and tourism-based income play a more dominant role than labor quantity in driving growth. Originality/Value: This study enriches existing literature by reassessing growth determinants using updated data and emphasizing Yogyakarta’s tourism-based regional economy. It fills gaps in prior studies marked by mixed findings and limited tourism-focused analyses, offering new empirical insights into the tourism growth nexus at the subnational level. Policy Implication: Findings suggest that local governments should strengthen investment, human capital, and tourism development to achieve inclusive and sustainable growth. Policy efforts focusing on infrastructure, education, and tourism promotion are essential to reducing interdistrict disparities and fostering balanced regional development.

Abstract

As an innovative solution to social issues and a driver of the local economy, sociopreneurship holds crucial relevance in strategic areas such as the national strategic tourism area of Borobudur. This study aims to analyze the determining factors that influence individuals' decisions to become sociopreneurs in the area. Using Utility Theory and Neoclassical Labor Choice Theory, the study applies a quantitative approach with a probit regression model. Primary data were analyzed from 140 respondents (sociopreneurs and non-sociopreneurs) selected through purposive sampling. The main results indicate that age, training, community participation, number of workers, and local resources have a significant positive effect. Conversely, the use of production technology has a negative effect, while capital and formal education factors are not significant. The main conclusion suggests that the decision to become a sociopreneur is driven by a balance of social and economic utility, not simply capital. The implications of this research recommend strengthening policies focused on community-based training and utilization of local resources

Abstract

Natural disasters pose significant economic and social challenges, particularly in vulnerable regions, necessitating strategies to enhance resilience. This study explores the relationship between Environmental, Social, and Governance practices and disaster risk resilience in financial institutions. The objective is to understand how these practices strengthen financial stability and sustainable development in high-risk environments. A systematic literature review was conducted using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews model, analyzing relevant articles from the Scopus database. Findings reveal that integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance practices enables financial institutions to conduct comprehensive risk assessments, leading to informed lending and investment decisions. These practices enhance resilience by mitigating financial shocks from disasters, fostering stakeholder relationships, and promoting sustainable investments. The study concludes that adopting Environmental, Social, and Governance principles significantly bolsters financial institutions' capacity to manage disaster risks, ensuring long-term stability and supporting sustainable development. However, challenges such as regional regulatory differences and data limitations highlight the need for further research to optimize these practices globally. This underscores the critical role of Environmental, Social, and Governance frameworks in building resilient financial systems.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of economic growth, government spending on education and health, and unemployment on poverty in Indonesia. By using secondary data and timer series in annual form from 1996-2021 and using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) method to estimate the model, the effect of the independent variable on the dependent variable in the short and long term will be known. The results show that in the short term economic growth has a negative and significant effect on poverty and government spending on health has a positive and significant effect on poverty. In the long term economic growth and government spending on education have a negative effect on poverty but not significant, government spending on health has a positive effect on poverty and not significant. While the unemployment variable has a positive and significant effect on poverty.

Abstract

This study's objective is to examine the factors that influence the quantity of oil exported from Indonesia, including the area of plantations, the price of palm oil, the exchange rate, and the amount of palm oil production. In the current study, Time Series data spanning the years 1989 to 2020 were subjected to an Error Correction Model (ECM) Test. This research was compiled using data from both the 2019-2021 National Leading Plantation Statistics book and the World Bank. In the near future, test results will be available. Price has a significant inverse relationship with Area, while Area has a significant positive relationship. Both of these connections are important. As indicated by a probability value of less than 5%, the exchange rate variable has a significant and negative relationship with the volume of palm oil exports in the long run, while the area variable has a significant and positive relationship with the volume of palm oil exports. Both of these connections are important.

Abstract

In informal sector, labor is unnecessary to have a higher degree and special skill. So that, working in informal sector is one of the solutions for labor with low skill to gain an income and move out from poverty. This research aims to analyse determinant factors of labor income in informal sector, focused on demographic and social economics variables. By using SAKERNAS data from Indonesian Statistics, this research is adopted Mincer Wage Equation and conducted by Ordinary Least Square Method. The result shows that Mincer Equation still a robust model for modelling wage factor. Labor with more educational backgrounds come up with higher income since the education will refine the workability and capability to improve productivity. In the other hand, labor in informal sector who live in the village earn more income than those who work in the city area. This conclude that by right policy, informal sector can develop higher income as high as formal sector.
