Abstract

This study investigates the impact of population growth and the Human Development Index (HDI) on economic growth and unemployment in East Kalimantan Province using path analysis with secondary data from 2014–2023. Population growth and human development are two critical demographic and socio-economic factors that often generate complex effects on regional economic performance. The results indicate that population growth has a negative and significant effect on economic growth, highlighting the pressure that rapid demographic expansion places on natural resources, infrastructure, and employment absorption capacity. Conversely, HDI demonstrates a positive and significant relationship with economic growth, suggesting that improvements in education, health, and income contribute to higher productivity and competitiveness. On the other hand, the direct effect of population growth and HDI on unemployment is negative but statistically insignificant, which implies that the availability of jobs and structural conditions of the labor market are more influential than demographic changes alone. Interestingly, economic growth shows a negative and significant effect on unemployment, supporting the classical theory that sustained economic expansion generates employment opportunities and reduces joblessness. Mediation tests reveal that economic growth does not significantly mediate the relationship between population growth or HDI and unemployment, underscoring that unemployment dynamics in East Kalimantan are influenced by broader structural factors such as sectoral concentration, policy effectiveness, and industrial diversification. These findings highlight the importance of integrating demographic management, human capital development, and sectoral economic strategies in policy formulation. Strengthening human development while controlling excessive population growth can provide a solid foundation for inclusive and sustainable economic progress in East Kalimantan.

Abstract

Geometry presents significant challenges for sixth-grade students due to its abstract nature, while Problem-Based Learning (PBL) implementation often lacks concrete media aligning with students' cognitive development stages. This systematic literature review synthesized empirical evidence on integrating PBL with pop-up book media to enhance mathematical critical thinking skills in sixth-grade geometry education. Following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, five databases (Scopus, ERIC, Garuda, DOAJ, SINTA) were systematically searched for studies published 2018-2024. After rigorous screening, 50 high-quality studies employing experimental, quasi-experimental, development, and meta-analytic designs were included for thematic synthesis. Experimental studies demonstrated large positive effects (mean d=0.87, range: 0.52-1.34) of PBL with pop-up books on critical thinking outcomes compared to traditional instruction. Meta-analyses encompassing over 32,000 students confirmed PBL's superiority (effect sizes d=0.64-1.18). Students showed substantial improvements in analysis, evaluation, spatial reasoning, and problem-solving abilities. Pop-up books' three-dimensional representations enhanced engagement, motivation, and conceptual understanding by making abstract geometric concepts tangible. PBL integrated with pop-up books effectively enhances mathematical critical thinking in geometry when supported by adequate teacher training, well-designed materials, and sufficient implementation time. This review provides comprehensive evidence and practical design principles for educators and curriculum developers implementing this innovative, constructivist-based learning strategy.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of quality motivation, career motivation, and degree motivation on the interest of accounting students to continue their master's studies in accounting with tuition fees as a moderating variable. The population in this study was 397 accounting students of the 2020 intake at 5 private universities in Bogor and the sample determination used a simple random sampling technique with the Slovin formula of 80 students. The analytical tools used were multiple linear regression analysis and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results of the study prove that quality motivation and career motivation partially have a significant effect on the interest in continuing their master's studies in accounting, while degree motivation does not have a significant effect on the interest in continuing their master's studies in accounting. Quality motivation, career motivation, and degree motivation simultaneously have a significant effect on the interest in continuing their master's studies in accounting. Tuition fees as a moderating variable can moderate the effect of career motivation on the interest in continuing their master's studies in accounting, while tuition fees as a moderating variable cannot moderate the effect of quality motivation and degree motivation on the interest in continuing their master's studies in accounting.

Abstract

This research examines the implementation of the "Urip Kerimaan" Food Security Program in Mahulu Regency, East Kalimantan Province, since 2021. This program aims to increase food independence by focusing on developing modern and organic dry land agriculture. The program steps involve opening 500 hectares of new land in 50 villages, with capital support, community-based agricultural technology management, and outreach for farmers. This research uses a conceptual framework that includes aspects of the Food Security Program (X), Arts and Culture (Urip Kerimaan) (M), and Sustainable Development (Y). This research method involves collecting quantitative and qualitative data from 1009 farmers involved in the Food Security Program. The research results show that the Food Security Program has a positive and significant impact on Sustainable Development, as well as on Arts and Culture. The Food Security Program has made a positive contribution to increasing the area of rice fields, rice production and the number of farmers in villages. Apart from that, Arts and Culture are also closely related to this program, with increasing public interest in various cultural expressions such as music, crafts and dance, which then influences Sustainable Development.

Abstract

In 2022, a total of 70 districts (16.83% of the total 416 districts) and 4 cities (4% of the 98 cities) were reported to have low scores in the Food security Index (FRI). This research aims to analyze the impact of the availability, affordability, and utilization of food on the Food security Index (FRI) in districts and cities with the lowest Food security Index in Indonesia. The research is quantitative with a correlational design, aiming to analyze the effect of availability, affordability, and utilization of food on the Food security Index. The study was conducted in 74 districts and cities that had the lowest Food security Index in 2022. Secondary data were obtained from the National Food Agency of the Republic of Indonesia, and data analysis was carried out using Multiple Linear Regression methods. The research findings affirm that the availability of food has a significant positive impact on the Food security Index in districts and cities with the lowest Food security Index. Meanwhile, the affordability of food also shows a significant positive influence on the Food security Index at the same local level. However, the utilization of food is not proven to have a significant impact on the Food security Index in districts and cities with low levels of food security.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the influence of health factors, education, infrastructure availability and minimum wages on labor absorption both directly and through private investment and economic growth. This study uses secondary data in the form of life expectancy data, average length of schooling, distributed energy, provincial minimum wages, private investment (PMA and PMDN), GRDP, economic growth, and the number of working population in each province in Eastern Indonesia. The data is in the form of N The results of the study show that directly health factors, education, and provincial minimum wages have a negative and significant effect on labor absorption while infrastructure availability has a positive and significant effect. Indirectly health factors, infrastructure availability and minimum wages are able to increase labor absorption both through investment and economic growth in contrast to the education factor which has not maximized labor absorption both through investment and economic growth. This is in line with the conditions of KTI which are still dominated by informal sector employment.
