Utilizing a quasi-experimental research method featuring a non-equivalent control group, the research featured 68 students separated into experimental and control groups. The experimental group received the treatment using the Flower Writing Strategy, while the control group used the Guided Writing Strategy. Pre-test and post-test data were gathered, and the paired sample t-test was used for analysis. The results showed a significant increase in the experimental group with an increase in the mean score from 61.47 to 74.12 (an increase of 20.57%), compared to the control group which increased from 57.50 to 68.97 (an increase of 19.94%). Using a p< 0.05 statistical analysis, the Flower Writing Strategy was found to have improved the writing ability of the students The results show that by using a methodical and ordered visual approach, the Flower Writing Strategy helps students to improve their writing skills.

Abstract

This study investigates the use of locutionary speech acts by English language teacher’s during classroom instruction at SMAN 3 Bulukumba. Language in education plays a crucial role not only as a tool for delivering instructional content but also as a medium for fostering interaction, building relationships, and managing the classroom environment. Grounded in Austin’s Speech Act Theory, this research specifically focuses on two components of locutionary acts: phatic acts and rhetic acts. Phatic acts are examined in terms of their interpersonal functions, such as initiating greetings, checking student well-being, expressing appreciation, and fostering classroom rapport. Rhetic acts, on the other hand, are explored for their instructional value in delivering content, stating facts, providing directions, expressing opinions, and persuading students to participate and engage with the lesson material. This research employs a qualitative descriptive methodology, with data collected through systematic classroom observations two English teacher’s at the senior high school level. The utterances collected were analyzed using a framework informed by Austin's typology of speech acts, focusing on how teacher’s structure their discourse to achieve pedagogical goals. The findings demonstrate that both phatic and rhetic acts are consistently utilized across different stages of instruction, serving both social and academic functions in the classroom. Phatic acts were particularly evident in teacher-student interactions at the beginning and end of lessons, helping to establish a warm and welcoming classroom climate. Meanwhile, rhetic acts were predominantly used during lesson delivery and student engagement, emphasizing clarity, structure, and motivational discourse. Classroom transcripts and observation tables provide empirical evidence of how these speech acts function in practice, revealing that their strategic use not only facilitates communication but also enhances student motivation, comprehension, and classroom dynamics. The study concludes that locutionary speech acts are integral to effective teaching and recommends their intentional application as part of teacher communication strategies. These findings have implications for teacher training programs, highlighting the need to develop pragmatic awareness among educators, particularly in EFL contexts where language functions extend beyond semantics to include social interaction and cultural sensitivity. Keywords: locutionary, phonetic act, phatic act, rhetic act, teacher

Through these strategies, many students were helped in overcoming anxiety and also made them more confident when speaking in public. Through self-practice, students can expand their vocabulary, improve their pronunciation, and prepare themselves to speak spontaneously in real situations. Meanwhile, the use of audio-visual media such as learning videos and technology-based applications also has a significant impact on supporting the learning process. This research has made an important contribution by highlighting students' active participation in finding ways to build their confidence independently. The research recommends further exploration of the long-term impact of this strategy on students' speaking ability in various contexts.

Abstract

The provision of exposure factors is the key to producing quality radiographs in providing accurate anatomical information. This study aimed to determine the difference in anatomical information from radiographs of cranium examination as an indication of radiograph quality in the selection of several exposure factors. The study was conducted at Hermina Arcamanik Hospital in April 2024. A phantom cranium was used as the object, and the exposure factor was set at a variation of the tube voltage value 60-80kV with the tube current value fixed at 20mAs. The radiographs were evaluated for anatomical details and analyzed through the Friedman test. The results showed that the anatomical information for each tube voltage value was 4.18 for 60kV, 3.91 for 65kV, 3.50 for 70kV, 2.27 for 75kV, and 1.14 for 80kV. The value of 60kV/20mAs has the highest mean rank value indicating that this exposure factor provides the most optimal anatomical detail

Abstract

The Karangantu Archipelagic Fisheries Port, commonly referred to as PPN Karangantu, provides a venue for business activities in the field of fisheries. These business activities are carried out by the fishermen of the Boat Lift Net. The Boat Lift Net captures small pelagic fish, and the catch is distributed by the fishermen of the Boat Lift Net at PPN Karangantu to fish traders outside the Karangantu location. This expands the distribution of the marketing of the catch from PPN Karangantu, as it is not only marketed at the Karangantu Fish Auction (TPI Karangantu). Therefore, the objective of this research is to illustrate the map of the distribution locations of the marketing of the catch from the Boat Lift Net landed at PPN Karangantu. Subsequently, it aims to identify the distribution channels for the marketing of the catch from Boat Lift Net at PPN Karangantu. To achieve these objectives, this research uses a qualitative descriptive approach and Geographic Information System (GIS) with remote sensing methods. As a result, it is found that PPN Karangantu has 4 distribution channels and there are 11 distribution locations for the marketing of the catch from the Boat Lift Net
