Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the gravity model by looking at the effect of the Destination Country Labor Force, Home Country Labor Force, Inter-Country GDP Ratio, and Inter-Country Distance on the Number of Indonesian Labor Migration. The data used are time series data from 2013 to 2022 and cross section data on 15 destination countries for Indonesian workers with panel data regression analysis techniques. Based on the results of the Fixed Effect Model (FEM), the Destination Country Labor Force and Inter-Country Distance have a negative and significant effect on the Number of Indonesian Labor Migration, while the Home Country Labor Force and Inter-Country GDP Ratio have a positive and significant effect on the Number of Indonesian Workers. The West Asia region and Saudi Arabia have the lowest intercept values, while the highest intercept values are in the East Asia region and in China. The difference in intercepts shows the difference in the number of Indonesian workers as a whole caused by the different characteristics of each region and country.

Abstract

This study examines the role of the manufacturing sector in the economic development of Jambi Province during the period 2007–2024. The research addresses the uncertainty regarding whether the manufacturing sector functions as a base sector and evaluates the extent to which key economic factors contribute to its performance. Using the Location Quotient (LQ) and Dynamic Location Quotient (DLQ) methods, the study identifies the structural dynamics of the sector, while a log-linear regression model is employed to analyze the effects of investment, labor, and the number of business units on the sector’s GRDP. The results indicate that the manufacturing sector remained predominantly non-base throughout the period, with a temporary base status occurring between 2011 and 2020. Regression findings reveal that labor and the number of business units exert positive and significant effects on the manufacturing GRDP, whereas investment shows inconsistent impacts. On average, the manufacturing sector contributed 12.06 percent to Jambi’s total GRDP. These findings highlight the need for strengthened industrial policy strategies focused on enhancing labor capacity, expanding business unit development, and improving investment effectiveness to support regional economic diversification and resilience.

Abstract

Abstract

This community service initiative stems from the issue of inadequate domestic waste management in the village of Sakatiga, specifically in the Raudatul Ulum Pesantren area, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. This community service aims to raise awareness among the local population that waste management issues are not truly resolved at the landfill site. It also seeks to inform the community that carbon emissions, climate change, and global warming are also consequences of poor waste management. Therefore, the residents must actively maintain environmental cleanliness productively and sustainably. By employing experiential learning and practical application methods, The activity was carried out through several stages, including socialisation and educational sessions, interactive discussions, training, and hands-on field practice in simple domestic waste management techniques, such as waste segregation and proper treatment of different waste types. The community service quite successfully encouraged the local residents to start segregating and managing their household waste more effectively and sustainably. Thus, the pollution and carbon emissions around the village were reduced, contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment.

Abstract

Gender inequality remains a persistent challenge in Indonesia, characterized by substantial disparities in women's labor-force participation, educational attainment, and economic outcomes. This study investigates the relationship between gender-related indicators and provincial income per capita across 34 Indonesian provinces during 2017–2021. Using balanced panel data and panel regression analysis, the Common Effects Model (CEM) was selected as the preferred estimation approach based on the Chow, Hausman, and Breusch–Pagan Lagrange Multiplier tests. The results indicate that male life expectancy, male average years of schooling, male expenditure, female labor-force participation, and economic growth are positively and significantly associated with provincial income per capita. In contrast, female average years of schooling and female expenditure exhibit negative, statistically significant coefficients, suggesting that improvements in female human capital and household welfare have not yet translated into higher regional income, possibly because of labor-market segmentation, occupational mismatch, and unequal access to productive employment. The findings also show that the inclusion of female-related variables substantially improves the model's explanatory power, while economic growth does not materially alter the estimated relationships. These results highlight the importance of complementing investments in women's education with policies that facilitate their integration into productive labor markets. Strengthening the alignment between education and labor-market demand, expanding employment opportunities for women, and enhancing the implementation of gender-responsive budgeting are essential to promoting more inclusive and sustainable regional economic development in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study measures and compares economic resilience across 17 selected economies from 2015 to 2024 by constructing a multidimensional Economic Resilience Index (ERI). The index consists of nine indicators covering seven dimensions: economic, human, labour-market, financial, institutional, structural, and external capacities. Using secondary panel data, the ERI is developed through the Entropy Weight Method (EWM), while GIS analysis visualizes geographical differences and changes in resilience between 2015 and 2024. The results reveal substantial variation in resilience levels and dynamics across economies. Domestic Credit to the Private Sector receives the highest entropy weight, followed by Control of Corruption, Employment to Population Ratio, and Government Effectiveness, indicating the importance of financial, institutional, and labour-market factors. Based on the average ERI for 2015–2024, the United Arab Emirates records the highest resilience, followed by South Korea and Saudi Arabia. However, Saudi Arabia shows the largest improvement over the period, while Brazil experiences the greatest decline. GIS results further highlight clear geographical disparities in resilience. Overall, the findings confirm the multidimensional nature of economic resilience and underline the importance of stronger financial systems, institutions, labour markets, and productive structures for long-term economic adaptability. These results provide useful evidence for policymakers designing resilience-oriented development strategies globally.
