Abstract

Honey pineapple is one of the commodities widely cultivated by the community of Karangjengkol Village, Purbalingga District. The utilization of honey pineapple is still focused on the fruit, while the waste from the skin has not been optimally utilized. Pineapple skin has the potential to be further processed into silage, but the community of Karangjengkol Village has limited capacity to do so. This community service activity aims to empower women farmers through training in making silage from pineapple peel using the asset-based community development (ABCD) approach. The implementation of community service activities began with mapping local assets, designing training activities, and conducting training and practice in making silage from pineapple peel. The evaluation of the training activity was carried out by administering pre-tests and post-tests that emphasized key indicators related to silage production. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in the participants' knowledge and understanding of silage production. This was demonstrated by an average increase in pre-test and post-test scores of 94 percent. These results indicate that training followed by hands-on practice can increase community capacity, particularly in terms of knowledge and skills in processing pineapple peels into silage.ABSTRAKNanas madu menjadi salah satu komoditas yang banyak dibudidayakan masyarakat Desa Karangjengkol, Kabupaten Purbalingga. Pemanfaatan nanas madu masih ditekankan pada buahnya, sedangkan limbah kulitnya belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Kulit nanas berpotensi untuk diolah lebih lanjut menjadi silase, namun masyarakat Desa Karangjengkol memiliki keterbatasan dari sisi kapasitas dalam melakukan hal ini. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan kelompok wanita tani melalui pelatihan dalam pembuatan silase dari kulit nanas dengan pendekatan asset-based community development (ABCD). Pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dimulai dengan pemetaan aset lokal, perancangan kegiatan pelatihan, serta pelaksanaan pelatihan dan praktik pembuatan silase dari kulit nanas. Evaluasi pelaksanaan kegiatan pelatihan dilakukan dengan pengisian pre-test dan post-test yang menekankan pada indikator utama terkait pembuatan silase. Hasil kegiatan memperlihatkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan dalam pengetahuan dan pemahaman peserta terkait pembuatan silase. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan dengan peningkatan rata-rata skor pre-test dan post-test sebesar 94 persen. Hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa pelaksanaan pelatihan yang diikuti dengan praktik langsung dapat meningkatkan kapasitas masyarakat, khususnya dari aspek pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam pengolahan kulit nanas menjadi silase.

Abstract

Background. The large number of species spread across Indonesia cannot be separated from the domestication process which helps improve and maintain livestock species by humans to maintain food needs for animals such as the domestication of the Sentul chicken. Poor feed efficiency for Sentul chickens has caused Sentul chickens to depend on antibiotics and has been banned since 2018. Lactic acid is believed to be an alternative to antibiotics and has been studied for a long time. The liver is an organ that can represent the state of the chicken if lactic acid is identified as a hazardous substance through the content of SGPT and SGOT. This study aims to evaluate the use of lactic acid as an acidifier in sentul chickens found in the liver seen from the content of SGOT and SGPT. Materials and Methods. There were 60 Sentul chickens used in this study which measured the content of SGOT and SGPT. Results. The addition of lactic acid significantly (p>0.05) did not have a negative effect on the liver in both SGOT and SGPT at administration levels up to 2% (v/g). SGOT and SGPT in the negative control were 232.9 and 39.68 mmol/L while the addition of lactic acid was still in a range that was not too far away, namely for SGOT in the range of 234.6-281.2 mmol/L and SGPT 35.15-56.96 mmol/L. Conclusion. The use of lactic acid in Sentul chicken feed does not cause liver damage which can be seen in SGOT and SGPT levels.

Abstract

This study investigated an intercropping system using two improved Napier grass varieties, consisting of cultivar Pakchong (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Thailand) and cultivar Red Napier (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Red) grown in combination with Gliricidia sepium. The research aimed to determine the effects of grass variety and planting system on leaf quality and chlorophyll content. An experimental design based on a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) factorial was employed, consisting of 2 treatment varieties and 2 treatment planting systems in four replications, for a total of 16 experimental plots, each consisting of 3 m x 3 m and 1.5 m spacing, covering 279 m². The treatments combined two varieties (V1 = Red Napier; V2 = Pakchong) with two planting systems (S1 = monoculture; S2 = intercropping). Variables measured included leaf length, leaf width, leaf area, chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, and total chlorophyll content. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that variety had a highly significant effect (p<0.01) on leaf width and a significant effect (p<0.05) on leaf area. Mean comparison indicated that the V2S1 (Pakchong–monoculture) treatment produced the greatest leaf width, 3.07 ± 0.03 cm, and the largest leaf area 2837.82±118 cm², outperforming all other treatments. Chlorophyll content did not significantly change in all treatments. It is concluded that the Pakchong in a monoculture system improves leaf width and leaf area but does not improve leaf chlorophyll content.

Abstract

Judul. Penelitian ini berjudul pengaruh fortifikasi mineral magnesium dan sulfur dalam pakan terhadap kecernaan serat kasar dan produksi gas metan secara in vitro. Latar Belakang. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh fortifikasi mineral magnesium dan sulfur dalam pakan terhadap kecernaan serat kasar dan produksi gas metan secara in vitro telah dilaksanakan pada 16 November – 15 Desember 2025. Materi dan Metode. Pakan yang diberikan berupa jerami padi amoniasi (50%) dan konsentrat (50%). Metode eksperimental secara in vitro menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) one way classification. Hasil. Rata-rata kecernaan serat kasar pada penelitian ini yaitu sebesar 34,33 – 59,31 %. Rata-rata produksi gas metan yaitu 3,22 – 1,05 mM. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa fortifikasi mineral magnesium dan sulfur dalam pakan berpengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap kecernaan serat kasar dan produksi gas metan. Hasil uji BNJ kecernaan serat kasar tertinggi dicapai pada pakan yang difortifikasi mineral magnesium dan sulfur (P2) yaitu sebesar 59,31 ± 3,51 % dan produksi gas metan terendah dicapai pada pakan ang difortifikasi mineral magnesium dan sulfur (P2) yaitu sebesar 1,05 ± 0,33 mM. Simpulan. Fortifikasi mineral magnesium 0,11% (BK) dan sulfur 0,83% (BK) dalam pakan yang terdiri dari jerami padi amoniasi dan konsentrat dengan imbangan 50 : 50 dapat meningkatkan kecernaan serat kasar dan menurunkan produksi gas metan.
