Abstract

The incidence of degenerative diseases is increasing every year. Degenerative diseases are caused by decreased organ function not only due to age but also due to lifestyle factors such as eating patterns, stress levels, and a history of other diseases. This community service is carried out in Gegelang Village, West Lombok, Indonesia. The aims of this community service are to detect degenerative diseases early and to provide an understanding of prevention to management as a preventive measure for several degenerative diseases. Methods used in these activities include providing free health checks, followed by health education training. Gegelang village received health education training on the causes and treatment of degenerative diseases specifically obesity, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and uric acid. Health checks specifically that included measuring body mass index, checking blood pressure, blood sugar levels, and uric acid level. Of the 68 villagers who took part in the body mass index examination, the percentages of underweight, normal, overweight, and obesity types 1 and 2 were 5.89%, 23.53%, 22.06%, 29.41%, and 19.11%, respectively. Meanwhile, systolic blood pressure greater than 140 mmHg was 22.06%, and diastolic blood pressure greater than 90 mmHg was 11.27%. Examination of blood sugar during normal classification, high blood sugar levels at risk, and indications of diabetes in 58%, 23%, and 11%. The amount of uric acid included in the high classification is only 11%. Improving the quality of health, early detection, and management of degenerative diseases is urgently needed.

Abstract

This service aims to introduce the importance of using Blood Supplement Tablets for young women, the impact of anemia in daily life, and knowing foods and drinks that can absorb and inhibit iron intake, so they know how to prevent anemia as early as possible. The method used in this service is participatory, followed by preparation, then counseling, followed by question and answer between the presenter and the audience. The media used in this service are PowerPoint and posters. The results obtained from the counseling were in the form of an increase in the level of knowledge of MAN 3 Mataram students and students regarding the correct use of blood supplement tablets, both for prevention and therapy, and during the outreach the participants were very active in asking questions and answers with the presenters. It is hoped that this increase in knowledge can improve the health status of teenagers in Indonesia, and reduce the rate of anemia and the risk of bleeding during childbirth.

Abstract

Self-medication activities are increasingly found in the community. Self-medication is the use of medicines without a prescription on their initiative. Thus, irrational treatment often occurs, and both the duration and dosage of treatment are inappropriate. Appropriate self-medication activities can be started with a healthy living community movement (GERMAS) in the form of socialization of proper drug use. This community service in the form of socializing the use of proper medicines coupled with health checks was carried out to the people of Bagik Polak Village, Labuapi District, West Lombok Regency. This service activity was carried out through direct socialization methods followed by interactive discussions. The implementation of this community service activity went smoothly. The community enthusiastically participated in socialization activities on drug use and a series of health checks.   The discussion session was carried out with a number of questions and answers about drugs, handling, storage, and duration and dosage of treatment.

Abstract

The aim of this activity is to educate residents about the use of Tanaman Obat Keluarga (TOGA) and honey as self-medication in Batu Kumbung Village, Narmada District, West Lombok, NTB. The method of this activity is Komunikasi, Informasi dan Edukasi (KIE) based on Participatory Action Research (PAR), which is a socialization approach using active community participation which aims to explore problems such as health checks for BMI, blood pressure and glucose and from these results, a solution is implemented, namely KEI TOGA and honey to the community. The results of the activity showed that the average age of the community was 36 years, BMI 21.08% (normal 17-25%), blood pressure 119/75 mmHg (normal <130 mmHg), glucose level 95 mg/dL (normal <150 mg/dL), it was concluded that the average health status of the community was in the normal category. The implication of this activity is the community's active role so that this activity is successful and the community receives TOGA education as a self-medication treatment.
