Abstract

Cardiac health is influenced by the balance of electrolytes in the body, such as sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium, which support cardiovascular functions, including heart rhythm and blood pressure regulation. Electrolyte imbalance increases the risk of heart disease, particularly among adolescents with unbalanced diets and low physical activity. Education about the role of electrolytes is essential for early prevention. This community service activity aimed to enhance the understanding of Al-Azhar Medan Private High School students as participants about the role of electrolytes in cardiac health and encourage them to adopt a healthy lifestyle. The methods included interactive counseling through presentations, discussions, and practical activities. The materials covered the types of electrolytes, their functions, signs of imbalance, and ways to maintain electrolyte balance through a healthy diet and adequate hydration. Visual aids and real-life case examples were utilized to clarify the participants' understanding. The evaluation results showed a significant improvement in the participants' knowledge of electrolyte functions and the importance of electrolyte balance for cardiac health. Most participants expressed an intention to pay more attention to their diet and electrolyte intake, and the program was effective in increasing knowledge and awareness of the importance of electrolytes for heart health. Proper education is expected to encourage adolescents to adopt a healthy lifestyle early, reducing the risk of heart disease in the future.

Abstract

Abstract

The problem of nurse performance is still an issue in various countries. The performance of nurses always attracts attention in Indonesia. The Province of North Sumatra even stated that the performance of nurses decreased, from 0.52 in 2013 to 0.48 in 2014, and continued to decline until 2015. Good nurse performance is a determining factor for the reputation of a hospital before the community in achieving success. Supervision by the head of the nurse's work unit is a problem related to the nurse's performance appraisal process. This study uses a quantitative approach, observational, with a cross-sectional design. The research sample consisted of 64 nurses in the Inpatient Installation of Aek Kanopan Hospital who were selected according to the criteria. The research data obtained were analyzed using univariate analysis which aims to describe the frequency distribution related to supervision data, Nurse Work Performance, and Patient Safety Implementation. Bivariate analysis which aims to prove the relationship between supervision and nurse performance on the implementation of patient safety uses Pearson's correlation with a 95% confidence level. There is a relationship between clinical supervision on the overall performance of nurses with a Pearson Chi-Square value = 5.146 and a p = 0.023 (p <0.05). In addition, there is also a relationship between the overall performance of inpatient nurses on the implementation of inpatient safety, with a Pearson Chi-Square value of 12.292 and a value of p = 0.000* (p <0.05). The better the performance of the nurse in the inpatient room, the implementation of inpatient patient safety will also be better.

Abstract

Anemia in third-trimester pregnant women increases the risk of pregnancy complications such as preterm labor and low birth weight. Contributing factors include adherence to iron tablet consumption, maternal age, parity, nutritional status, and compliance with antenatal care (ANC) visits. This study aims to analyze the determinants of anemia in third-trimester pregnant women at the Gunung Selamat Labuhan Batu Health Center. This cross-sectional study involved 96 third-trimester pregnant women selected using consecutive sampling. Data were collected through interviews, hemoglobin level examinations, and evaluations of iron tablet adherence, nutritional status, and ANC visits. Data analysis used bivariate (chi-square) and multivariate (logistic regression) tests. Bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between anemia and iron tablet adherence (p=0.00; PR=5.95), maternal age (p=0.00; PR=5.11), parity (p=0.00; PR=4.95), nutritional status (p=0.00; PR=7.55), and ANC visit compliance (p=0.00; PR=8.55). Multivariate analysis identified nutritional status (p=0.00; Exp(B)=16.69) and ANC visit compliance (p=0.00; Exp(B)=14.51) as the most dominant factors influencing anemia. Nutritional status and ANC visit compliance are key determinants of anemia in third-trimester pregnant women. Interventions focusing on nutritional education, ANC service optimization, and increased adherence to iron supplementation are essential to reduce anemia prevalence among pregnant women

Abstract

Abstract According to Government Regulation No. 33 of 2012 it is stated that Exclusive Breast Milk, hereinafter referred to as Exclusive Breast Milk, is breast milk given to babies from birth for 6 (six) months, without adding and/or replacing it with other food or drinks. . The impact if the mother does not give exclusive breastfeeding, the baby will be at risk of experiencing health problems and being susceptible to infection. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The research was conducted at the Panombean Panei Health Center. The research informants were 7 people, the samples were taken by snowballing. Data were analyzed in depth in narrative form by means of data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions/verification.The results of the study show that the implementation of the exclusive breastfeeding program at the Panombean Panei Health Center has not been maximized, for the last 4 years the average <40% is still far from the national target of 85%. Bureaucratically, the parties responsible for and involved in the exclusive breastfeeding program are the head of the Puskesmas, the MCH program holder, the nutrition program holder, and the village midwife. Recording and reporting is carried out by the village midwife every month and the health center reports to the Simalungun District Office at the beginning of the month. The resources of health personnel in promoting the exclusive breastfeeding program are sufficient. ASI corner is available but not utilized. Facilities and infrastructure for counseling are still lacking such as leaflets and booklets. The source of funds comes from Health Operational Assistance (BOK) combined with other MCH programs. There is no charge for the implementation of the exclusive breastfeeding program. The disposition or attitude of health workers is good and friendly in providing counseling about exclusive breastfeeding, providing information that is easily understood by mothers. Not all mothers can attend posyandu because of work. Supervision is not carried out specifically and the sanctions are only in the form of a warning. Communication in the implementation of the exclusive breastfeeding program was carried out by health workers by going into the field providing counseling or education by cooperating with the village midwife by forming a class for pregnant women and a class for babies. The frequency of counseling is not routine because the area of the Panombean Panei Health Center is wide. Keywords: Application of Policy, Exclusive Breastfeeding Program, Health Center
