Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of morning and evening breathing exercises on the psychological well-being of adults. The research used a quantitative method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects consisted of five adults from diverse backgrounds, selected using purposive sampling. The intervention involved mindful breathing exercises conducted twice daily for 7 days, with each session lasting 5–10 minutes. The instrument used was the DASS-21 to measure stress, anxiety, and depression, along with daily reflective questions to capture participants’ subjective experiences. Data were analyzed descriptively using both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The results showed that most participants experienced improvements in relaxation, self-worth, and reduced anxiety. Although outcomes varied between individuals, no significant negative effects were observed. The findings suggest that twice-daily breathing exercises have the potential to serve as an effective self-regulation strategy for enhancing psychological well-being. This study recommends incorporating breathing practices as part of non-pharmacological biopsychological interventions for stress management programs.

Abstract

This study aimed to test psychometric properties of strength use scale (SUS) as a unidimensional concept with 14 question items on a sample of female leaders who work in two manufacturing companies. The investigation, the subjects used consisted of 521 females in management positions at various levels. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was applied to analyze the factor validity of the unidimensional SUS consisting of 14 items. Additionally, Indonesian version of SUS was validated using a confirmation approach. In line with previous studies, the analysis confirmed the unidimensionality of the scale, which measures a singular strength through factors. The demands on internal consistency, composite reliability, and convergent validity were met. The results showed that Indonesian version of SUS is comparable to the original English version, representing a valid and reliable measure of strength used in Indonesian. Therefore, future studies should consider adding subjects with different sociodemographic backgrounds.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the effectiveness of optimal hydration on brain activity and mental health in students and workers through a biopsychological approach. Five participants (three students and two workers) participated in a hydration intervention by drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day for seven days. The design used was a one-group pretest-posttest, with measurements using the PANAS (Positive Affect Negative Affect Schedule) scale and daily reflection. The results showed an increase in positive emotion scores and a decrease in negative emotion scores after the intervention was carried out in both groups. Participants' daily reflections supported these findings, although some experienced discomfort such as bloating or nausea. Biopsychologically, adequate hydration can contribute to cognitive function, emotional control, and daily productivity. This study confirms that regular drinking habits are a simple but effective strategy in improving mental health and brain function in both students and workers.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of perceived masculinity in shaping loyalty to the Surya cigarette brand among men aged 20–30 in Kudus City. A descriptive quantitative approach was used, with 20 respondents, active Surya cigarette users who had smoked for at least three years, participating. Data collection was conducted using a five-point Likert scale questionnaire measuring two main variables: perceived masculinity and brand loyalty. The analysis showed an average score of 4.045 for perceived masculinity and 4.24 for brand loyalty. These findings suggest that the masculine image associated with the Surya brand plays a significant role in shaping emotional attachment and consumer loyalty. Theoretically, the results support the view of modern consumer psychology, which states that consumption behavior is driven not only by functional needs but also by social and symbolic meanings that shape self-identity. Thus, loyalty to the Surya brand is a form of symbolic consumption that reflects masculine values and the need for social recognition among young men in Kudus.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of brand image and digital marketing on skin lightening product purchase decisions among young people in Kudus Regency. The use of skin lightening products is increasing, influenced by psychological, social, and digital factors, particularly through social media and influencer reviews. The study used descriptive qualitative methods with simple quantitative data, with a sample of 20 university students aged 14 to 20. The results indicate that digital promotion and brand image are the primary factors influencing skin lightening product purchase decisions. Purchase motivation is dominated by social and emotional factors, such as the desire for acceptance by the community and increased self-confidence, rather than solely the product's benefits. These findings provide important insights for local cosmetics marketing strategies and improving consumer understanding.
