Abstract

Meditation is an effective technique for increasing focus and concentration, especially in the context of sports. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of meditation training in improving the concentration abilities of pencak silat athletes. Using an experimental approach, the training was carried out in three sessions divided into two meetings. Training success was measured using a pre-test and post-test design. The research results showed a significant increase in the athletes' ability to focus and concentrate after participating in the training. These findings support previous research results which state that meditation can increase concentration and self-control in athletes, so that they are able to execute strategies and techniques more effectively in competitions.

Abstract

This research was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of applying the PETTLEP Imagery technique, with a focus on Physical and Timing aspects, in increasing self-efficacy in non-professional karate athletes. This method involves realistic visualization of movements as well as simulating the duration of movements according to the match situation. The intervention was carried out in the Psychology Building at Muria Kudus University, with a duration of each session of 1–2 hours. The subject involved was a 23 year old female karate athlete who had experience competing from an early age. The implementation method includes physical training combined with visualization of movements and setting the duration according to match time. The results of the activity showed that the subject experienced a significant increase in self-confidence, concentration, and mastery of movements that were more accurate and regular. The combination of Physical and Timing techniques has proven to be effective in increasing the efficiency of movement techniques and reducing anxiety before the match. In conclusion, the PETTLEP Imagery technique can increase athletes' physical and mental readiness in facing competitions, with a positive impact on training performance and reducing anxiety.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the effectiveness of imagery training in increasing the focus of pencak silat athletes. Mental focus is a crucial element in sports performance, because good mental readiness can influence the outcome of a match. This study used an experimental design with the subject an athlete with the initials SA who was known to have difficulty maintaining focus when competing. The imagery training was carried out over two sessions, and its effectiveness was evaluated through pre-test and post-test measurements. The research results showed a significant increase in athletes' ability to focus after participating in imagery training. This finding is in line with previous research which states that imagery techniques can be an effective tool in training athletes' mental focus.

Abstract

The problem of mental toughness in student athletes is an important concern because it directly influences the achievement of optimal performance. This research aims to increase mental toughness through psychological interventions based on visualization and journaling techniques. The research subject was a female karate student who showed symptoms of low self-confidence, difficulty in managing emotions, and anxiety when competing. The research was conducted in three intervention sessions carried out in three meetings. Each session consists of guidance on filling out a mental log, positive visualization exercises, and reflective journal writing. Measurements were carried out before and after the intervention using the mental toughness questionnaire. The research results showed an increase in mental toughness scores from the moderate to very tough category, as well as an increase in self-confidence, emotional management, and performance during training. These findings indicate that visualization and journaling techniques are effective in supporting the strengthening of mental toughness in student athletes.

Abstract

Workshop Creating Vision Goals 2025 merupakan kegiatan pengabdian yang bertujuan membantu mahasiswa merumuskan arah hidup melalui pendekatan reflektif dan visualisasi kreatif. Kegiatan ini didasarkan pada Self-Determination Theory, yang menekankan pentingnya otonomi, kompetensi, dan keterhubungan dalam membangun motivasi yang berkelanjutan. Workshop dihadiri sembilan mahasiswa dari komunitas Philiatalks sebagai peserta serta menggunakan teknik vision board dan prinsip SMART goals sebagai alat perencanaan tujuan. Kegiatan terdiri dari tiga tahap: refleksi terhadap pengalaman hidup, penyusunan tujuan tahun mendatang berdasarkan prinsip SMART, dan ekspresi visual melalui vision board. Kegiatan ditutup dengan sesi berbagi untuk memperkuat makna personal dan sosial. Hasil observasi menunjukkan peningkatan kesadaran terhadap pola hidup yang ingin diubah, seperti manajemen waktu, batasan digital, dan gaya hidup sehat. Teknik visualisasi terbukti memperkuat keterlibatan emosional terhadap tujuan, sekaligus mempererat kohesi sosial. Kegiatan ini menjadi sarana efektif dalam mendukung motivasi intrinsik dan penyusunan arah hidup mahasiswa secara otentik dan terarah.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi seberapa efektif pengurangan penggunaan ponsel pada malam hari terhadap kualitas tidur dan emosi remaja. Untuk melakukan intervensi, penggunaan ponsel dilarang selama tujuh hari berturut-turut dari pukul 23.00 hingga 05.00. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode kuantitatif dan menggunakan desain satu grup pretest-posttest. Lima mahasiswa semester 2 dipilih secara purposive berdasarkan kriteria kesediaan mengikuti intervensi dan dapat mengisi instrumen penilaian. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi PANAS (Positive and Negative Affect Schedule) serta skala refleksi kualitas tidur harian. Hasil menunjukkan rata-rata penurunan afek negatif sebesar 3 poin dan peningkatan afek positif sebesar 1,2 poin. Selain itu, skor ketenangan tidur partisipan meningkat secara konsisten, menunjukkan pengaruh positif intervensi. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pembatasan penggunaan gadget malam hari mampu mengurangi emosi negatif dan meningkatkan pengalaman tidur yang lebih tenang. Meskipun terdapat variasi respons individu, sebagian besar partisipan merasa lebih segar dan stabil secara emosional setelah intervensi. Intervensi sederhana ini direkomendasikan untuk dimasukkan dalam edukasi sleep hygiene di kalangan remaja guna mendukung keseimbangan emosional dan kesehatan mental.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah mengonsumsi sayuran mampu memberikan efek positif terhadap suasana hati (mood) mapun kesehatan otak, menggunakan rancangan one group pretest-posttest dan merupakan metode kuantitatif. Partisipan merupakan 4 mahasiswa aktif yang jarang mengonsumsi sayur, dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dengan kriteria: jarang mengonsumsi sayur, bersedia mengikuti intervensi makan sayur selama 7 hari, dan mampu mengisi skala secara mandiri. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan skala Positive Affect Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS), yang memuat sebanyak 20 pertanyaan atau item. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif untuk melihat perubahan skor emosi positif dan negatif sebelum dan sesudah intervensi. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan skor positive affect dari rata-rata 38,75 menjadi 40,75 (+2 poin), dan penurunan negative affect dari 29,5 menjadi 27,25 (–2,25 poin). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa konsumsi sayur secara rutin dapat berkontribusi positif terhadap suasana hati dan keseimbangan emosi mahasiswa. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi ilmiah terhadap pendekatan psikologi nutrisi dan mendorong pentingnya pola makan sehat sebagai upaya sederhana namun efektif dalam mendukung kesehatan mental. Rekomendasi ditujukan kepada mahasiswa untuk memperhatikan pola konsumsi sayur dalam kehidupan sehari-hari

Abstract

Abstract. This paper was aimed to explore the meaning of pleasing God as a form of transcendental motivation through an integrative approach combining Christian theology, transpersonal psychology, and biopsychology. This study used a library research method. Findings showed that this motivation is linked to spiritual direction, the heart as the center of moral discernment, and surrender as a response to grace. In transpersonal psychology, it aligns with self-transcendence and meaning-centered motivation. Biopsychologically, the prefrontal cortex supports moral decision-making, the dopaminergic system enhances spiritual joy, and the limbic system stores spiritual memory. These insights affirm that spirituality is not only an inner experience but also a biological process, showing that pleasing God involves a holistic formation of the person—spiritually, psychologically, and biologically.Abstrak. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi makna menyenangkan Tuhan sebagai motivasi transendental melalui pendekatan integratif antara teologi Kristen, psikologi transpersonal, dan biopsikologi. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode studi pustaka. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa motivasi ini terkait dengan arah hidup spiritual, pembentukan hati sebagai pusat pertimbangan moral, dan penyerahan diri sebagai respons terhadap anugerah. Dalam psikologi transpersonal, motivasi ini mencerminkan self-transcendence dan meaning-centered motivation. Dari sudut biopsikologi, prefrontal cortex berperan dalam pengambilan keputusan moral, sistem dopaminergik memperkuat sukacita rohani, dan sistem limbik menyimpan memori spiritual. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa spiritualitas melibatkan pengalaman batin sekaligus proses biologis yang mendukung pertumbuhan iman secara utuh.

Abstract

Pendidikan karakter di tingkat Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) memiliki peran strategis dalam membentuk siswa yang tidak hanya unggul secara akademik, tetapi juga memiliki sikap dan perilaku positif. Nilai seperti kesantunan, kegigihan, dan inovasi menjadi landasan penting dalam pendidikan yang efektif. Kesantunan membantu siswa membangun hubungan harmonis dengan teman sebaya dan guru, menciptakan lingkungan belajar kondusif. Kegigihan mengajarkan siswa untuk tidak mudah menyerah menghadapi tantangan serta membangun ketahanan mental demi mencapai tujuan. Sikap inovatif mendorong siswa berpikir kreatif, menemukan solusi baru, dan meningkatkan kepercayaan diri serta kepuasan belajar. Implementasi pendidikan karakter di SMP dapat dilakukan melalui berbagai pendekatan, salah satunya sosialisasi urgensi penanaman sikap santun, gigih, dan inovatif. Dengan pendekatan holistik, pendidikan karakter membentuk individu yang tidak hanya berprestasi akademik, tetapi juga memiliki integritas, disiplin, dan kepedulian sosial. Ini akan meningkatkan motivasi siswa karena merasa dihargai dan didukung dalam pengembangan diri.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of exercise on mood and stress levels of individuals, especially in college students. The research method used is quantitative with a one group pretest-posttest design, involving seven participants selected through purposive sampling techniques based on certain criteria. The intervention in the form of light exercise for five minutes was carried out routinely for seven consecutive days. Measurements were carried out using positive and negative affect scale instruments before and after the intervention, as well as daily reflections to explore the subjective experiences of participants. The results showed that short exercise interventions can increase positive emotions and reduce negative emotions in some participants, especially those who have intrinsic motivation and positive perceptions of exercise. However, not all participants experienced significant changes, indicating that the effectiveness of the intervention is influenced by motivational factors, initial habits, and external psychological conditions. This study recommends exercise as a practical intervention to improve emotional well-being, taking into account mental readiness and personal meaning for individuals. These findings contribute to scientific understanding of the importance of a personal approach in implementing exercise for mental health.
