Abstract

Target produktivitas jagung di lahan kering miring akan sulit dicapai tanpa teknologi konservasi tanah, khususnya penanggulangan erosi dan peningkatan bahan organik tanah.  Biochar merupakan teknologi tepat guna yang dapat meningkatkan daya ikat tanah sehingga tidak muda terdispersi. Kandungan karbonnya yang tinggi menjadi sumber C-organik jika digunakan sebagai bahan pemenah tanah. Tujuan kegiatan ini untuk meningkatkan wawasan petani melaksanakan usahatani jagung berbasis konservasi menggunakan biochar sebagai sumber karbon tanah. Metode pelaksanaan adalah demplot di lahan jagung dimana petani melakukan partisipasi aktif dalam setiap kegiatan, yang terdiri dari  pembuatan rorak searah dengan lereng, pembuatan lubangan biopori, aplikasi biochar sebagai bahan pembenah tanah, budidaya jagung sistem legowo 2:1. Luaran kegiatan ini adalah meningkatnya pengetahuan petani (76 orang anggota kelompok tani Mamminasa Deceng) tentang konsep usahatani jagung sistem legowo berbasis konservasi dan peran biochar sebagai sumber karbon dalam meningkatkan kulitas tanah serta meningkatnya kesuburan tanah berdasarkan kandungan C-organik tanah (4%).   Kata kunci: Degradasi lahan, jagung, karbon, kekeringan, produktivitas. ABSTRACT The target of corn productivity on sloping dry land will be difficult to achieve without soil conservation technology, especially erosion control and increasing soil organic matter. Biochar is an appropriate technology that can increase soil binding capacity so that it is not easily dispersed. Its high carbon content becomes a source of organic C if used as a soil enhancer. The purpose of this activity is to increase farmers' insight into implementing conservation-based corn farming using biochar as a source of soil carbon. The implementation method is a demonstration plot in corn fields where farmers actively participate in each activity, consisting of making rorak in the direction of the slope, making biopore holes, applying biochar as a soil conditioner and corn cultivation using the 2:1 legowo system corn cultivation using the 2:1 legowo system. The output of this activity is increased knowledge of farmers (76 members of the Mamminasa Deceng farmer group) about the concept of conservation-based corn farming and the role of biochar as a carbon source in improving soil quality and increasing soil fertility based on soil organic C content (4%). Abstract

This research aims to determine the characteristics of slow-release fertilizer based on corncob biochar which is enriched with various nutrient sources (NPK, SP36, cow urine and Azotobacter). Research methods include making biochar through pyrolysis and nutrient impregnation. Fertilizer characterization includes analysis of nutrients, material fractions, biochar stability, and functional groups using spectra (FTIR). The results of the four analyzes carried out showed that the SRFbiochar+SP36+cow urine formulation provided the best results in retaining nutrients and water.  The nutrient content produced by SRFbiochar+SP36+cow urine, namely N(0.35%) P (0.63%), K (0.7%), Corganic (6.49%), volatile content (15%) strengthened by the ultimate results which show high nutrient content (C=10.09%, N=0.35%), which is explained by the formation of hydroxy functional groups (O-H) in tire 3444.87 and carboxy groups on the band 1635.64. These results indicate that the SRF-BiocharSP36+bovine urine formulation has the potential to be developed as a slow-release fertilizer to increase fertilization efficiency in dry land for sustainable soil fertility improvement.

Abstract

Tembakau lokal mempunyai peranan penting dalam industri rokok kretek di Indonesia, karena 80% rokok kretek dibuat dengan menggunakan tembakau lokal. Akan tetapi, di beberapa daerah kualitas tembakau lokal masih rendah yang disebabkan oleh pemupukan yang kurang efisien. Penggunaan pupuk lepas lambat dapat meningkatkan efisiensi penyerapan hara oleh tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji penggunaan pupuk lepas lambat berbasis biochar SP36 (SRF-BiocharSP36) terhadap karakteristik morfologi tanaman tembakau. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah percobaan lapangan dengan menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok untuk menguji perlakuan pupuk SRFbiochar SP36. Perlakuan yang diujikan yaitu SRFbiocharSP36 sebagai pupuk dasar, SRF-BiocharSP36, SRF-biocharSP36+urin Sapi dan SRF-BiocharSP36+urin sapi+Azotobacter terhadap karakter morfologi tembakau meliputi: tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, diameter batang, sudut daun bendera dan berat basah daun tembakau. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa SRF-Biochar SP36 yang digunakan sebagai pupuk dasar memberikan hasil terbaik dan berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman (68,60 cm) dan diameter batang (19,39 mm). Selain itu, formula ini memberikan hasil terbaik terhadap jumlah daun (24 helai) dan berat basah daun (44,92 g). Dengan demikian, formulasi SRF-Biochar SP36 dapat digunakan sebagai pupuk dasar untuk meningkatkan efisiensi pemupukan sehingga dapat memaksimalkan produksi tembakau lokal.

Abstract

Status kesuburan tanah merupakan faktor penting yang menentukan keberhasilan pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman. Kesuburan tanah menggambarkan kemampuan tanah mendukung pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman. Ketersediaan unsur hara di dalam tanah terus berkurang akibat dari pengambilan hasil tanam atau pengurasan hasil panen sehingga tanah perlu dipupuk untuk menggantikan unsur hara yang terangkut dan untuk mempertahankan tingkat produktivitas lahan. Pemupukan tanah dapat dilakukan menggunakan pupuk anorganik dan atau pupuk organik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh pupuk organik Eco Glasum yang ramah lingkungan. Eco Glasum merupakan pupuk kompos modifikasi berbentuk padat yang terdiri atas 3 jenis rumput laut yaitu Eucheuma cottoni, Glacilaria sp., Sargassum sp. dan dikombinasikan dengan ekstrak bawang merah. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di KP. Fakultas Pertanian, Peternakan, dan Perikanan Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare pada bulan Juni 2023. Parameter amatan terdiri atas tekstur, warna, dan aroma. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembuatan pupuk organik yang berbahan dasar kombinasi dari rumput laut yang dimodifikasi dengan ZPT alami memiliki tektur yang remah, warna gelap dan tidak beraroma. Gelap ini menunjukkan bahwa pupuk organik memiliki tingkat kematangan yang optimal. Soil fertility status is an important factor that determines the success of plant growth and production. Soil fertility describes the ability of the soil to support plant growth and production. The availability of nutrients in the soil continues to decrease due to harvesting or depletion of crops, so the soil needs to be fertilized to replace the transported nutrients and to maintain the level of land productivity. Soil fertilization can be done using inorganic fertilizer and/or organic fertilizer. This research aims to obtain Eco Glasum organic fertilizer which is environmentally friendly. Eco Glasum is a solid modified compost fertilizer consisting of 3 types of seaweed, namely Eucheuma cottoni, Glacilaria sp., Sargassum sp. and combined with red onion extract. This research was carried out in KP. Faculty of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Muhammadiyah University, Parepare in June 2023. Observed parameters consist of texture, color and aroma. The results of the research show that making organic fertilizer made from a combination of modified seaweed with natural PGRs has a crumbly texture, dark color and no aroma. This darkness indicates that the organic fertilizer has an optimal level of strength.

Abstract

Tembakau (Nicotiana tabacum L.) merupakan salah satu komoditi perkebunan unggulan yang sangat strategis bagi perekonomian nasional dan secara tidak langsung akan berdampak terhadap aspek sosial, diantaranya sebagai pemasok bahan baku untuk pabrik rokok. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahuan pengujian viabilitas dan vigor benih beberapa varietas tanaman tembakau. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Fakultas Pertanian, Peternakan dan Perikanan Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare pada bulan Juli-Agustus 2023, penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok terdiri dari 1 faktor, dengan faktor varietas teridiri dari v1 (ico lalo), v2 (ico sse), v3 (kemloko) dan v4 (Prancak-95). pengujian viabilitas dan vigor benih tanaman tembakau, untuk karakter amatan kecepatan tumbuh tertinggi pada varietas prancak-95 (V4) yaitu 5.23, indeks vigor tertinggi pada varietas prancak-95 (V4) yaitu 6,00, keserempakan tumbuh yang tertinggi pada varietas prancak-95 (V4), daya berkecambah tertinggi pada varietas Ico lalo (V1) dan varietas prancak-95 (V4) yaitu 9.67 dan Panjang radikula tertinggi pada varietas prancak-95 (V4) yaitu 0.87. Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) is one of the leading plantation commodities that is very strategic for the national economy and will indirectly have an impact on social aspects, including as a supplier of raw materials for cigarette factories. This study aims to find out the viability and vigor testing of seeds of several varieties of tobacco plants. This research was carried out at the Faculty of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, University of Muhammadiyah Parepare in July-August 2023, this study used a randomized group design consisting of 1 factor, with varietal factors consisting of v1 (ico lalo), v2 (ico sse), v3 (kemloko) and v4 (Prancak-95). testing the viability and vigor of tobacco plant seeds, for the character of the highest growth speed observation in the prancak-95 (V4) variety which is 5.23, the highest vigor index in the prancak-95 (V4) variety which is 6.00, the highest growing coarseness in the prancak-95 (V4) variety, the highest germination in the Ico lalo variety (V1) and the prancak-95 (V4) variety which is 9.67 and the highest radicle length in the prancak-95 (V4) variety which is 0.87.

Abstract

The Community Partnership Program (PKM) activity takes place in Mallongi-longi village, Lanrisang sub-district, Pinrang Regency. The main objectives of this activity encompass several aspects, namely: a) Enhancing the knowledge and skills of partner members related to entrepreneurship within their group. b) Improving the understanding and skills of partner members in processing corn and banana harvests into economically valuable products. c) Enhancing the knowledge and skills of partner members in utilizing digital-based marketing. Partners in this activity face several issues, namely: a) Lack of understanding and skills among partner members regarding the concept of entrepreneurship within their group. b) Lack of understanding and skills among partner members in transforming corn and banana harvests into economically valuable products. c) Limited knowledge and skills among partner members in utilizing digital marketing methods. To address these issues, the implemented method involves training, discussions, and guidance that involve collaboration between the activity implementers and members of the Matongeng-Tongeng farmer group as partners. This activity is carried out for two days and involves ten partner members. Evaluation and monitoring are then conducted periodically for two months. From the implementation, significant results are observed, including an increase in the knowledge and skills of partner members in the field of entrepreneurship, their ability to process harvests into higher-value economic products, and their capability in utilizing digital marketing. AbstrakKegiatan Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) berlangsung di desa Mallongi-longi, Kecamatan Lanrisang, Kabupaten Pinrang. Tujuan utama dari kegiatan ini mencakup beberapa aspek, yaitu: a) Meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan anggota mitra terkait wirausaha dalam kelompok mereka. b) Meningkatkan pemahaman dan ketrampilan anggota mitra dalam mengolah hasil panen jagung dan pisang menjadi produk yang memiliki nilai ekonomis. c) Meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan anggota mitra dalam memanfaatkan pemasaran berbasis digital. Mitra dalam kegiatan ini menghadapi beberapa permasalahan, yakni: a) Kekurangan pemahaman dan ketrampilan anggota mitra terkait konsep wirausaha dalam lingkungan kelompok mereka. b) Kekurangan pemahaman dan ketrampilan anggota mitra dalam mengubah hasil panen jagung dan pisang menjadi produk bernilai ekonomis. c) Keterbatasan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan anggota mitra dalam memanfaatkan metode pemasaran digital. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan ini, metode yang diimplementasikan adalah berupa pelatihan, diskusi, dan penyuluhan yang melibatkan kerja sama antara pelaksana kegiatan dan anggota kelompok tani Matongeng-Tongeng sebagai mitra. Kegiatan ini dijalankan selama dua hari dan melibatkan sepuluh anggota mitra. Evaluasi dan pemantauan kemudian dilakukan secara berkala selama dua bulan. Dari pelaksanaan tersebut, terlihat hasil yang signifikan, di antaranya peningkatan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan anggota mitra dalam bidang wirausaha, kemampuan mereka dalam mengolah hasil panen menjadi produk dengan nilai ekonomis yang lebih tinggi, serta kemampuan dalam memanfaatkan pemasaran digital.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of residents in Data Village, Pinrang Regency, in utilizing banana peels as value-added food products in the form of jam. The program is expected to support the empowerment of the local creative economy through food diversification while reducing unutilized organic waste. The implementation method included several stages, namely socialization, counseling, demonstration of banana peel jam processing, and direct practice assistance for participants. The analysis technique applied was descriptive qualitative, carried out through observation, interviews, and evaluation of community participation during the activity. The results of the program indicated an increase in participants’ understanding of the entire processing procedure, starting from raw material preparation, cooking techniques, product packaging, up to basic marketing strategies. Participants were also able to produce banana peel jam with acceptable organoleptic quality and good consumer feasibility. The conclusion of this activity is that training in processing banana peels into jam can improve community skills, create new business opportunities, and contribute positively to household income. Therefore, this program has proven effective in promoting community empowerment through the creative and sustainable use of local resources.

Abstract

Horticultural crops are commodities with high economic value, but they are highly susceptible to attacks by plant pests (OPT) in the form of pests and diseases. OPT attacks on horticultural commodities have been reported to cause significant yield losses, even leading to crop failure if not properly controlled. This community service program aims to improve early disease detection capabilities, implement better cultivation technologies, and ultimately reduce losses due to disease attacks. The community service program uses a socialization/educational lecture method combined with discussions, questions and answers, and field assistance. The results of this community service program have positively impacted farmers' knowledge and skills in recognizing early disease symptoms, understanding the causal factors, and being able to apply appropriate cultivation technologies.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of biochar-based growing media on the growth of seedlings of three tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) varieties—Jinten, Paiton-2, and Perancak-95—cultivated in clay-textured soil. Clay soil poses challenges for plant growth due to poor drainage and limited aeration, which can hinder root development and nutrient absorption. To address these limitations, biochar is used as a soil amendment, known to improve soil structure, enhance water retention, and increase nutrient availability. The experiment was arranged in a factorial Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with two factors: tobacco varieties and seed soaking treatments (warm water, warm water with Azotobacter, and warm water with biohumic), each replicated three times. Observed parameters included plant height, leaf dimensions, stem diameter, root length and weight, and total fresh biomass. The results are expected to identify the tobacco variety that responds best to biochar treatment and provide recommendations for optimal seedling growth in marginal soils.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of bioremediation using bio-fertilizers on the early growth of corn (Zea mays L.) in soil from former nickel mining sites. The study was conducted by observing soil characteristics and plant growth parameters, including soil texture, moisture content, cation exchange capacity (CEC), and macro nutrient content (N, P?O?, and K?O). Treatment L4P1 (location Sorowako with PGPR application) showed the best physical and chemical results, with the highest CEC value (40.65 cmol(+)/kg) and balanced macro nutrient content. Corn plant growth also showed a positive response to this treatment, indicated by the number of leaves (4.67), plant height (39.70 cm), leaf length (29.51 cm), as well as higher dry and wet weights compared to other treatments. Treatment P1 generally provided the most consistent and superior results compared to P2 and P3, demonstrating the effectiveness of the microbial formula in improving soil quality. degraded. In contrast, the L5 treatment showed the lowest results on almost all parameters. These results indicate that bioremediation with biofertilizers, particularly using PGPR (P1), has great potential in reclaiming former nickel mining soils and supporting food crop productivity on marginal lands
