Abstract

Local tobacco has an important role in the kretek cigarette industry in Indonesia, because 80% of kretek cigarettes are made using local tobacco. However, in some areas, the quality of local tobacco remains low due to inefficient fertilisation. Using slow-release fertiliser can increase the efficiency of nutrient uptake by plants. This Research aims to examine the use of biochar-based slow-release fertiliser on the morphological characteristics of tobacco plants. The Research method was a field experiment using a randomised block design to test the SRFbiochar SP36 fertiliser treatment. The treatments tested were SRFbiocharSP36 as basic fertiliser, SRF-BiocharSP36, SRF-biocharSP36+Cow urine and SRF-BiocharSP36+Cow urine+Azotobacter on tobacco morphological characters, including: plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, flag leaf angle and wet weight of tobacco leaves. The Research found that SRF-BiocharSP36, used as a basic fertiliser, produced the best results and significantly affected plant height (68.60 cm) and stem diameter (19.39 mm). Apart from that, this formula gave the best results for the number of leaves (24) and the wet weight of leaves (44.92 g).

Abstract

Abstract

The dependence of tobacco farmers on synthetic chemical fertilizers for many years has led to a decline in soil quality and crop yields in the long term, One of the main challenges in tobacco production is to produce quality seeds that can optimally support crop productivity. The research method used a random design of a non-factorial group, each treatment consisted of 3 treatments tested, namely 4 combinations of planting media, namely P0 (Control), P1 (Azotobacter), P3 (Biohumic), P4 (Azotobacter+Biohumic). The results obtained in this study showed that the best results in the combination treatment of azotobacter and biohumic consistently gave the best results on all plant growth observation parameters, this shows a significant synergistic effect between nitrogen fixation by azotobacter and increased nutrient availability by biohumic

Abstract

Rural tourism development in agricultural regions requires innovative integration strategies to enhance local economic sustainability. However, most agritourism models still emphasize farm-based attractions, limiting integration opportunities for regions dominated by non-agricultural tourism. This study aims to propose an alternative agritourism development model by integrating non-agricultural tourism attractions with coffee agribusiness, referred to as integral agritourism, in Latimojong Village, Indonesia. A qualitative case study approach was employed using SWOT analysis based on in-depth interviews with 21 key stakeholders, including coffee farmers, tourism actors, academics, and visitors. The results indicate that the integration strategy is positioned in Quadrant I (growth strategy), reflecting strong internal capabilities and favorable external opportunities. The main strengths include superior coffee quality and strategic access to tourist markets, while significant opportunities arise from tourism-based branding and market expansion. In conclusion, integral agritourism extends conventional agritourism concepts by embedding agricultural products within existing tourism experiences and offers a replicable strategy for integrated rural development and sustainable local branding.

Abstract

The long-term dependence of tobacco farmers on synthetic chemical fertilizers may reduce soil quality and crop productivity. One of the main challenges in tobacco production is producing high-quality seedlings that can support optimal plant productivity. This study aimed to determine the best bioagent treatment to tobacco. The used a non-factorial randomized block design with four growing-media treatments: P0 (control), P1 (Azotobacter), P2 (Biohumic), and P3 (Azotobacter + Biohumic). Each treatment was replicated three times. The results showed that the combination of Azotobacter and Biohumic (P3) produced the highest mean values for all observed plant growth parameters. This response was presumably associated with the synergy between nitrogen fixation by Azotobacter and improved nutrient availability and root-zone conditions by Biohumic.
