Abstract

Sleep is an essential need that must be met, especially in the development phase since brain and body development will occur during sleep. Thus, sleep disturbance is a problem that will cause adverse effects on growth and development, especially for babies. Sleep quality for babies can be improved by providing baby massage on a regular basis. The purpose of this study was to prove whether there were differences in sleep quality before and after the massage in babies aged 3-4 months in Gelatik and Nuri IHC (Integrated Health Center) of Tanjungunggat Village of Tanjungpinang Municipality. Design: This was a Quasi Experiment study with a pretest-posttest method. The sample consisted of 17 respondents selected by purposive sampling technique. The statistical test used in this study was a dependent t-test with a significance level of 0.05.Result: The results showed that there was no significant difference between baby sleep duration before and after the massage (p = 0.414). However, there was significant difference between the frequency of waking up before and after the massage (p = 0.001) and there was a significant difference between the duration of waking up before and after the massage (p = 0.046. Discuss: Based on the results of this study, it is suggested that mothers should improve their knowledge on the importance of baby massage provided by health professionals and the health professionals should provide and demonstrate clear, complete and sustained information to the mothers and other related parties surrounding the IHC.

Abstract

Based on Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey in 2008, there were 80,000 newborns died. One possible cause was infection. Infections acquired from placenta transplant from mother to fetus can cause congenital abnormalities such as TORCH infections. This can be prevented by doing premarital examination. This study investigated the relationship between childbearing women’s knowledge about premarital examination and attitude in premarital examination in Tanjungpinang in 2014. This was an analytic study with a cross-sectional research design. Location was selected in Tanjungpinang on June 12 to June 23, 2014. The sampling was done by purposive sampling technique. The sample was 47 people. Instrument used was a questionnaire and data collection was done by filling the questionnaire. The obtained data was analyzed with chi-square test. The results showed that, of the 47 respondents, 87.2% had high knowledge with 68.1% having a positive attitude while 12.8% had low knowledge with 31.9% having a negative attitude. The results of the chi-square statistical test obtained a pvalue of 0.009 (p <0.05), then H0 was rejected, meaning that there was a correlation between childbearing women’s knowledge about premarital examination and attitude in premarital examination in Tanjungpinang in 2014. It was suggested that the childbearing women expected to undergo premarital examination before marriage. It was recommended to the Health Clinic Laboratory to improve the premarital screening program with promotional efforts.

Abstract

Background: Preeclampsia–eclampsia remains a major contributor to maternal morbidity and mortality, highlighting the need for early recognition and family involvement. Family-based digital education may support preparedness by improving knowledge and behavioral responses. This study aimed to evaluate the association between a family-based digital education application (Si PaPa GaSi) and changes in knowledge, attitudes, and motivation regarding preeclampsia–eclampsia. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a pre–post test control group design was conducted among 100 pregnant women–husband pairs (50 intervention, 50 control) at Berakit Primary Health Center in November 2024. The intervention group received standard health education plus access to the application, while the control group received health education only. Outcomes were assessed using structured questionnaires before and two weeks after the intervention. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon signed-rank tests for within-group comparisons and Mann–Whitney U tests for between-group comparisons. Results: Within-group analysis showed significant improvements in knowledge, attitudes, and motivation in both groups (p < 0.05). However, between-group analysis revealed no significant difference in knowledge (U = 1119.5; p = 0.214; r = 0.12), while significant differences were observed in attitudes (U = 957.5; p = 0.028; r = 0.22) and motivation (U = 887.0; p = 0.005; r = 0.28), indicating small to moderate effect sizes. Conclusion: The Si PaPa GaSi application was associated with improvements in attitudes and motivation, but not additional gains in knowledge compared to standard education alone. These findings suggest that family-based digital education may enhance behavioral readiness and partner involvement in maternal health, although further research with longer follow-up and randomized designs is needed.

Abstract

Background: Stunting is a chronic growth disorder influenced by maternal nutritional status, recurrent infections, and suboptimal caregiving practices. Strengthening maternal behavioral competence is an important strategy for stunting prevention, particularly through digital interventions. Objective: This study evaluated the effectiveness of the Si NaNing mobile application developed in this study in improving responsibility, autonomy, initiative, and self - control among pregnant women. Methods: The study was conducted in community health centers and midwife private practices (MPP) in Tanjungpinang from October to November 2025 using a quasi-experimental pre-test–post-test design with a control group. A total of 200 pregnant women were selected through consecutive sampling from a population of approximately 450 pregnant women and equally assigned into intervention and control groups (n = 100 each). Both groups received a 45 - minute health education session on stunting prevention delivered by trained midwives, while the intervention group additionally received full access to the Si NaNing application. Data were collected using a validated questionnaire at baseline and seven days post-intervention. Results: Significant improvements were found in all behavioral variables in the intervention group compared with the control group (p < 0.05). Regression analysis showed a very strong effect of the intervention, with R² values ranging from 0.960 to 0.986. Conclusion: These findings indicate that the Si NaNing application effectively strengthened maternal behavioral competencies related to stunting prevention and may serve as a promising digital educational approach for pregnant women.
