Abstract

Osteochilus hasseltii belongs to the Cyprinidae family and is a native species in the Banjaran River. Populations of O. hasseltii that are continuously exploited can cause the population to decrease and cause an imbalance between males and females. This study aims to determine differences in morphology and sex of O. hasseltii. The research method uses a survey method and purposive random sampling at two stations, namely Kober Village and Kedung Wuluh Village. A total of 16 individuals of O. hasseltii (8 males and 8 females) were caught using fishing rods. About 24 morphometric truss distances were measured using Image-J software. Normality and homogeneity tests need to be done before conducting the t-test. Data analysis used the t-test with the help of Minitab software. The morphological characters of O. hasseltii seen from the dendogram can be seen that each truss distance measured on male O. hasseltii has a similarity of above 90% so that the morphological differences and the similarities are small. Whereas in female O.hasseltii, the similarity exceeds 75% at each truss distance so that the distinguishing character of female O.hasseltii can be seen from the truss distance which has a small similarity, namely Anal-fin base length (Q) of 76.14% and Upper-jaw length (D) of 86.3%. The results of the t-test showed 8 morphometric truss distances that could be used as a distinguishing feature of male and female O. hasseltii is Snout-supraoccipital distance, Snout length, Snout-pectoral distance, Snout-gill distance, Postorbital head length, Gill-pelvic distance, Dorsal-pelvic distance, and Dorsal fin base length. Therefore, the morphometric truss can be used to differentiate the sex of O. hasseltii.

Abstract

Abstract

Vacant land that is not utilized has the potential to become critical land which can result in landslides, floods, decreased production functions, which can have an impact on the socio-economic impact of local communities. Members of the Jembaran Forest Farmers Group, Notog Village, have the initiative to cultivate Tetragonula biroi, but most of the members do not understand the mechanisms of bee cultivation, especially the availability of flowering vegetation that produces nectar and pollen as a food source and produces resin as a building material for nests. Based on these problems, this community service activity aims to introduce types of flowering vegetation which play a role in supporting the cultivation of T. biroi which can also increase land productivity, as well as mitigate critical land. This vegetation includes Dombeya sp and Xanthostemon sp, both of which are flowering vegetation and can play a role in increasing land productivity, increasing water penetration into the soil, so as to prevent flooding. This service activity method is carried out in three stages, namely 1). Socialization and discussion about the types of flowering vegetation that support the cultivation of T. biroi, 2). Practice planting vegetation as a demonstration plot which is carried out directly, 3) monitoring and evaluation to determine the level of change in participants' mindset with indicators of increasing the amount of flowering vegetation which also acts as a means of mitigating flood disasters and decreasing soil fertility. The results of the activity showed an increase in the participants' knowledge and understanding of the material presented

Abstract

Women's participation in socio-economic development at the local level is important and strategic because women have two roles as actors in developing a household by taking care of children and helping in the family economy. This study aims to the participation of farmer women's groups in empowering local food security as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program in Cilacap Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia. This study used the Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) method to involve 20 informants from members and administrators of the Women Farmers Group (WFG) of Sumber Pathedan and 14 academics, namely lecturers and students. Data were collected through interviews, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), observation, and documentation with participatory analysis to produce natural and sustainable reality constructions. The results showed that WFG had the motivation and cohesiveness to become an entrepreneur after receiving socio-economic empowerment in the form of cultivating food security for vegetables and post-harvest processed products from the CSR program. However, it requires program sustainability such as assistance to continue to be able to harvest productively in the dry season. Then it requires the support of home production equipment and supplies to increase the productivity of postharvest products.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the implementation of Agricultural Technology Innovation Field School (SLPITP) activities in Klirong District, Kebumen Regency, focusing on post-harvest and harvest management training for farmers. The study addresses the need to improve farmers' knowledge and skills in implementing agricultural technology innovations to increase productivity and reduce post-harvest losses. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method using in-depth interviews, observations, and focus group discussions with 21 informants consisting of farmer group leaders, agricultural extension workers, village officials, and government staff from district and provincial agricultural offices. Data collection was conducted from November 2024 to March 2025 through purposive sampling technique. The results indicate that the SLPITP program successfully provided farmers with practical knowledge in six key areas: technology innovation socialization, power thresher operation, harvest loss calculation, special rice cultivation, vacuum packaging techniques, and follow-up action planning. The program involved 50 farmers from 10 farmer groups across three villages and provided essential equipment including power threshers, tarpaulins, moisture measuring tools, and vacuum packaging machines. Key challenges identified include limited initial farmer knowledge, low learning interest, capital constraints for post-harvest equipment, and the "ijon" purchasing system that discourages quality improvements. Despite these obstacles, the program achieved positive outcomes through hands-on learning approaches and provision of practical tools. The implications of this study suggest that field school programs effectively enhance farmer capabilities when supported by appropriate infrastructure and continuous follow-up activities. Future research should focus on long-term impact assessment and scaling strategies for broader implementation across different agricultural contexts.
