Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused great panic and anxiety worldwide, including for patients dialysis who reported high mortality and decreased patients quality of life including caregivers. This study aimed to investigate the correlation between the quality of life among patients undergoing hemodialysis and caregiver, especially during COVID-19 in Indonesia. A cross-sectional study design has been adopted. An accidental sampling technique was employed in this study between June and December 2021. Short Form-36 and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale were used to measure primary outcomes. Seventy-eight patients receiving hemodialysis and Seventy-eight caregivers were recruited. All of the patients had comorbidities (88.7%) and patients tend to be at a high level of depression and anxiety (53.2%), Middle level of depression and anxiety (30,4%). However, only a few (26.9%) caregivers had comorbidities, and all were without a high level of depression and anxiety. This study shows no correlation between the patients quality of life and the family caregivers quality of life during the COVID-19 pandemic, both from the physical (p 0.43) and mental dimensions (p 0.55). This study concluded that hemodialysis status, being older, a number of comorbidities, and depressing status influence quality of life. Program and specific treatment on depression among end-stage renal disease suggested for future study. Abstract

Patients with COVID-19 disease who have comorbidities are strongly correlated with increased disease severity and significantly increased risk of death. Diabetes Mellitus is one of important risk factor and contributes to the severity and mortality of patients with COVID-19. Patients with chronic wounds have delayed treatment during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, management of patients with chronic wounds should be improved during this pandemic. Home based wound care and education program for the family caregiver is proposed to solve the problem. Eight participants were completed this program. Evaluation of wound for each patient were conducted (at the first meeting and four- or five-months follow-up) using the diabetic foot ulcer assessment scale (DFUAS). In general, the wound depth, wound size, infection, granulation, necrotic being better compared in the first assessment. Home-based care, and education for patients and family caregiver program have benefit for diabetic wound care management during Covid-19 pandemic in this area (Yogyakarta, Indonesia). The comprehensive with multidiscipline approach are recommended for future work.

Abstract

The study aims to investigate the scientific evidence concerning breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding experiences among women with physical disabilities. Exclusive breastfeeding entails providing only breast milk to infants from birth to 6 months old, excluding any other food or drinks except medications and vitamins. However, breastfeeding is not halted after exclusive breastfeeding; it continues until the child is two years old. Utilising the scoping review method, the research employed the Population, Concept, and Context (PCC) framework. Six articles meeting the inclusion criteria were identified from a pool of 1,553 articles from PubMed, ScienceDirect, Wiley, and Research Rabbit databases. These articles shed light on the challenges, experiences, barriers, and support systems related to breastfeeding and childcare encountered by women with physical disabilities. The research on breastfeeding experiences among women with physical disabilities reveals both facilitators and barriers. Facilitators include adaptations, peer support, and necessary equipment, while barriers encompass insufficient support, health considerations, and milk production and latching challenges. These findings underscore the importance of tailored support and access to information for women with physical disabilities who aim to breastfeed effectively. Implementing such support mechanisms can contribute to improving breastfeeding rates among this demographic, thus promoting the health and well-being of both mothers and infants while addressing societal attitudes toward disability issues.

Abstract

Maternal-fetal attachment (MFA) makes an essential contribution to maternal and fetal health and influences the adoption of a healthy lifestyle during pregnancy. Mothers who have a strong MFA tend to have healthy behaviors and give birth to healthy babies. Mothers who feel emotionally connected to their fetus tend to be more motivated to take care of their own health. They realize that their health directly affects the health of the developing baby. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of maternal-fetal attachment in primigravida in the third trimester. The quantitative descriptive research method was used with 85 primigravida mothers who have met the inclusion criteria (third-trimester primigravida; no complications during pregnancy, self-examination at the Sleman regional public health centre) and have participated in this study. The Indonesian version of the Prenatal Attachment Inventory (PAI) questionnaire is used to review maternal-fetal attachments in a face-to-face interview. The results of the study provide an overview of the fact that most primigravida mothers in the third trimester have high maternal-fetal attachment scores. In addition, effective information communication and education for pregnant women were identified as factors that contributed to the level of maternal-fetal attachment. Effective maternal-fetal attachment-related programs in the education of new-reproductive couples are needed to be developed and implemented by health workers, including by midwives.

Abstract

The maternity class service is a class for pregnant women aimed at educating expecting parents so that they can undergo a healthy pregnancy and delivery process. This study examines the role of midwives in implementing class services for pregnant women during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study uses a qualitative phenomenological approach. Based on the theme, it can be figured out that there are 5 midwives as human resources. All midwives have followed training for pregnant women and have worked with nutritionists, psychiatrists, and doctors. Midwives' roles and responsibilities include providing information on pregnancy, labor, postpartum, and newborn care. The course for expectant mothers is implemented online, and the timing is irregular during the pandemic period; it is only carried out once a week, so there are obstacles in the implementation of the class for pregnant women, that is the delivery process. The midwives should also help delivery process while being the admin of the Bidan Rindu application. Therefore, the provision of information through the application does not run optimally. Overall, midwives' responsibilities in the pregnant women's class program, specifically as presenters and facilitators, are appropriate for implementing services for pregnant women
