Abstract

This article examines the intersection of SIPAKATAU a Bugis-Makassar cultural philosophy that emphasizes mutual respect, dignity, and social harmony with inclusive education as a strategy for fostering sustainable urban development in Makassar. The objective of this study is to investigate how local wisdom can be integrated into educational frameworks to promote social cohesion in increasingly diverse urban environments. Employing a qualitative methodology, including document analysis and literature review, this research identifies key SIPAKATAU principles that align with inclusive education values, such as justice, empathy, and collaboration. The findings reveal that incorporating these cultural elements into school curricula and policies strengthens community participation, enhances conflict resolution, and supports marginalized groups. These outcomes contribute significantly to building socially resilient and sustainable cities. The study proposes a theoretical framework for policy adaptation that incorporates local cultural values into inclusive education practices, demonstrating that traditional wisdom can play a vital role in addressing contemporary challenges of urban sustainability.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the meaning, stages, and socio-cultural values contained in the traditional Molo A'ra Sahu marriage ceremony in the Sahu Tribe community in West Halmahera Regency. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of traditional leaders, community leaders, and couples who carry out the ceremony. The results of the study show that the Molo A'ra Sahu ceremony is not just a marriage procession, but a traditional ritual that is loaded with cultural symbols and values such as mutual cooperation, kinship, responsibility, and respect for ancestors. Each stage of the ceremony — from the proposal (fotu), the handing over of the dowry (molo), to the traditional feast (a'ra) — has a philosophical meaning that reflects the Sahu people's view of the sacredness of the marriage bond and the importance of maintaining social harmony in the community. This study concludes that Molo A'ra Sahu has an important function in preserving local cultural identity and strengthening the social solidarity of the Sahu people in the midst of modernization. It is hoped that the results of this research can be a reference for the preservation of regional culture and learning materials for the younger generation about the local wisdom of West Halmahera.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the cultural meaning and structural typology of the salutation used in the various military languages of the Indonesian Navy, as well as to trace its historical development in the socio-cultural context of the Indonesian military. The military language of the Indonesian Navy has its own characteristics that reflect discipline, hierarchy, and honor values that are firmly rooted in the culture of military organizations. The method used is a qualitative descriptive method with a cultural, and historical linguistic approach. Data were obtained through observations, interviews, and studies of official documents and military archives. The results of the study show that the salutation in the military language of the TNI AL has a social and symbolic function that affirms identity, solidarity, and hierarchical structure between members. In terms of structural typology, it was found that there was a pattern of greetings that were systematically arranged based on rank, position, and the context of formal and informal communication. Meanwhile, culturally, each form of greeting contains basic values such as loyalty, respect for superiors, and corps spirit. From a historical perspective, the use of the greeting has evolved from the influence of colonial military traditions to the formation of a national identity that is typical of Indonesia. Thus, the greeting of respect in the military language of the TNI Navy is not only a form of verbal communication, but also a reflection of cultural values, military discipline, and historical heritage that shape the character of the TNI Navy institution to this day.

Principals and teachers actively design learning strategies that integrate character values, such as honesty, discipline, responsibility, and cooperation, into every social studies learning activity. The implementation of learning is carried out with a variety of methods, including group discussions, simulations, and case studies, so that students can understand character values contextually. Character education evaluation is carried out through observation of student behavior, teacher reflection, and assessment of learning outcomes. Supporting factors for the success of character education management include the commitment of teachers and principals, facility support, and cooperation with parents. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include limited time, large number of students, and inadequate learning facilities. The conclusion of this study shows that the management of strengthening character education at SD Negeri 23 West Halmahera runs systematically and effectively, despite several obstacles. The integration of character education in social studies learning is able to form students who are disciplined, responsible, and have good social skills.
