Abstract

Dengue fever is a deadly disease that attacks children and adults today. In Indonesia, dengue fever is still a health problem because there are still many areas where it is endemic. Dengue fever or DHF is a disease transmitted through mosquitoes that occurs in tropical and subtropical areas of the world. Common symptoms of dengue fever are high fever and flu-like symptoms. Meanwhile, in severe dengue fever, this condition can cause serious bleeding, a sudden drop in blood pressure (shock) and even death. Millions of cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever infection occur throughout the world every year. Dengue fever occurs most often in Southeast Asia, the western Pacific islands, Latin America and Africa. But now the disease has spread to new areas, including local outbreaks in Europe and the southern United States. The best way to prevent infection is to avoid mosquito bites and take steps to reduce mosquito populations. Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is still a problem for most Indonesian people. Concerns about contracting diseases that originate from mosquito bites increase when the rainy season arrives. Early detection and late treatment result in an increase in cases ending in death. Keywords: Education, Prevention, DHF Mosquito

Abstract

Hypertension is a significant global public health concern that often remains asymptomatic in its early stages, emphasizing the need for proactive prevention and management strategies. This community service program, Together Against Hypertension, was conducted in Jambi City in collaboration with the Nursing Student Association of Universitas Jambi, aiming to enhance public awareness of hypertension and identify individuals at risk through targeted blood pressure screenings. The program employed a two-pronged approach: (1) educational sessions focused on the etiology, risk factors, complications, and prevention of hypertension, with an emphasis on lifestyle modifications; and (2) blood pressure screenings to detect undiagnosed hypertension or prehypertension cases within the community. Participants included diverse demographic groups, with nursing students acting as facilitators under professional supervision. The findings revealed that 35% of participants exhibited elevated blood pressure, with 20% previously unaware of their hypertensive status. Educational activities significantly improved participants' understanding of hypertension and its management, fostering greater adherence to regular monitoring and healthy behaviors. This initiative underscores the importance of community-based interventions in addressing hypertension and provides a scalable model for similar programs aimed at improving population health outcomes.

Abstract

In In the modern era, circumcision methods have undergone many innovations. However, the conventional methods that are still widely used often cause fear in children and slow down the recovery process, thereby disrupting daily activities. One innovative solution is the needle-free combo sealer method, which is minimally painful and accelerates healing. Unfortunately, this method is not yet widely known by the public, particularly in the city of Jambi and the surrounding areas of the Jami'atul Berkah Foundation. On the other hand, economic constraints remain the primary barrier for orphans and the underprivileged in accessing modern circumcision services. This community service initiative aims to assist them through health education and the implementation of circumcision procedures using the combo sealer method. Activities include counseling, informed consent, medication administration, procedures performed by professional medical staff, and outcome evaluation. This method has been proven to produce neater results, minimal bleeding, no stitches or bandages, and allows children to resume activities sooner.
