Abstract

Lemon (Citrus limon L.) is a plant with a peel type that contains phytochemical compounds namely flavonoids, terpenoids, tannins and limonenes that can be used as plant-based insecticides. The contents of these chemical compounds have the ability to kill mosquitoes, and act as respiratory poisons and stomach poisons for the mosquitoes. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the extract of lemon peel (Citrus limon L) On the mortality of Aedes sp. and to determine its potential as a repellent. This type of research used in thisstudy was an experiment using a completely randomized design study (CRD) which was carried out using 3 variations of the treatment dose of lemon peel extract (Citrus limon L) namely 25%, 27.5%, and 30%and controls (+) and (-). Data collection was carried out by looking at and recording mortality / deaths from Aedes sp. after being given treatment and observing mosquitoes on the body of mice and counting the number of mosquitoes that using the Protection Power formula. Data were statistically tested using One Way Anova and continued with LSD (Least Significant Difference) test. The results obtained by the value of Fcount ˃ table is 0.484 at the level of α = 0.05 so that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. This means that there is a significantinfluence of each treatment. The best effective dose is 30% with 50 mosquitoes dead. The highest protection power at a concentration of 30% was 97.3%, while the lowest protective power at a concentration of 25% was 77.1%.

Abstract

This study analyzed the effect of chromium metal accumulation on magnesium absorption and chlorophyll content in vegetables. The effect of accumulation was determined by performing controlled experimental methods on planting media supplemented with chromium and by directly observing vegetables grown in chromium-polluted areas, such as mountain, rice field, street, and industrial areas. The controlled experiments were carried out by varying the chromium contamination (1 and 3 ppm) and magnesium nutrition (0.4, 0.6, and 0.8 g/L) in planting media. The controlled experiment was compared with the results of field observation in several chromium-polluted areas. The effect of the treatment was analyzed based on the chlorophyll and magnesium levels in the leaves in comparison with the chromium levels in the planting medium. The results of observation and controlled experiments showed that the accumulation of chromium in plants affected the absorption of magnesium, which also affected chlorophyll formation and thus disrupted plant growth. The high chromium level (3 ppm) and magnesium level in planting media can reduce the accumulation of chromium in kale stems and leaves by 19% and 33%, respectively, increase magnesium absorption on kale stems and leaves by 7% and 5%, respectively, and increase chlorophyll formation on kale stems and leaves by 12% and 11%, respectively. Field observation in several chromium-polluted areas showed that spinach has a better chromium accumulation tolerance than kale in terms of magnesium absorption. The type of planting media, plant species, and the presence of other metal contaminants also affect chromium accumulation, magnesium absorption, and chlorophyll level.

Abstract

This research aims to study the quantity, quality, ecological and economic feasibility of nata de pina production (NP) from pineapple liquid waste (PLW). The design of the study employs complete random design (CRD) with three treatments: PLW without nutrients addition (A), PLW nutrients addition (B), and PLW stored for six months with nutrients addition (C). The nata de pina’s production factors measured were weight, thickness, fiber content, color, brightness, and residual waste. The highest weight was reached in treatment B (899 grams), followed by treatment A (616.4 grams), and C (477.8 grams). The thickness of NP of the height and low as in treatment B (1.58 cm) followed by treatment A (1.24 cm) and C (0.88 cm), respectively. The highest fiber content was found in treatment C (9.3%) followed by treatment B (7.6%) and A (6.9%), respectively. The fiber content, along with color quality and brightness fit with food standards. The production of NP may reduce the volume of the PLW from 46.2% to 89.1% (p =0.001). Based on the standard value of biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), total suspended solid (TSS) below to the required threshold except pH. The production of NP is economically feasible to 4.7 BC ratio. The overal manufacture of nata de pina from PLW produces better and feasible product ecologically and economically

Abstract

Mesuji is one of the districts that has the largest oil palm plantations in Lampung province. A large amount of Palm Oil Empty Fruit Bunch (TKKS) waste is one of the impacts caused by the extent of the plantation. Oil palm bunches are a fruit stalk and the place where the oil palm fruit attaches. Palm Oil Empty Fruit Bunch (TKKS) is the main waste which is 23% of the palm oil processing. The purpose of this study was to determine the phosphate content of OPEFB organic fertilizer combined with goat feces, determine the comparison that has a good value of phosphate content, and determine the feasibility of the poster making of organic fertilizer for empty palm oil palm bunches (OPEFB) which added goat feces. This type of research is an experiment, using a completely randomized design (CRD). This study used three treatments and one control namely the ratio of Palm Oil Empty Fruit Bunch (TKKS) and goat feces was 1: 0 as a control treatment, 7: 3 as the first treatment, 1: 1 as the second treatment, and 3: 7 as the third treatment. Based on the test results pospat levels obtained an average of each control sample until treatments 1, 2, and 3 are as follows: 0.327%, 0.511%, 0.923%, and 1.330%. The results of one-way ANAVA test analysis found that there was a significant effect of giving goat feces to the OPEFB fertilizer produced and based on ANAVA test results (LSD test) found that the best effect of goat feces was in the third treatment, namely on the comparison of OPEFB feces and goat feces by 3: 7. The results of poster study source validation on the design expert got a value of 86 and the material expert got a value of 95. This study concluded that goat feces affected phosphate levels in OPEFB organic fertilizer, the ratio that had the highest phosphate value was 300 grams of OPEFB and 700 grams of Goat Phases (treatment to goat three), and a poster about the effect of goat feces on phosphate levels in organic fertilizer of oil palm empty fruit bunches is suitable as a learning resource.
