Abstract

Tinder is one of the virtual spaces that allows individuals to negotiate and present themselves dynamically. Stereotypes and traditional social norms continue to influence how gender is understood and represented online, which in turn reinforces problematic biases in interactions in digital spaces. This study aims to analyze the construction of gender identity among Tinder dating app users within the framework of a digital society. Employing a qualitative method with a netnographic approach, this research involves the researcher's active participation in the Tinder platform's virtual space by observing 52 user accounts and conducting in-depth interviews with five informants. The findings reveal that Tinder users construct gender identity through visual and textual elements, including profile photos, brief bios, hobbies, and interests. Gender identity on the platform can be manipulated and diversified to represent themselves as "women" and or "men." It underscores the necessity for contextualization and redefinition of gender identity within cyberspace. The study makes a significant contribution by revealing how gender identity on Tinder challenges traditional binaries through performative practices that blur the rigid boundaries between “feminine” and “masculine” while offering new insights into gender fluidity within digital spaces as arenas for renegotiating social norms.

Abstract

direct use of raw water has serious health risks. Therefore, various water treatment processes are needed to make the raw water safe for use in domestic purposes. One important stage in such processing processes is coagulation and flocculation, where chemicals (coagulants) are used to remove colloidal particles and form larger floc that can be easily precipitated through sedimentation and filtration. Determination of the optimal coagulant dosage is essential to achieve the desired water quality. However, jer-test problems, the non-linear nature of water, and the complexity of coagulation theory can make it difficult to determine the optimal dose. Therefore, in this study, a system is proposed that uses a data-based fuzzy approach and fuzzy set determination using z-score to study data patterns and relationships between parameters in the coagulation process. The proposed method utilizes a fuzzy approach to address the non-linear nature of water and the complexity of coagulation theory. The system uses the collected data patterns to develop fuzzy models that can predict optimal coagulant doses based on specific conditions. This approach allows the system to learn from existing data and identify patterns of relationships that may be hidden between relevant parameters. The results showed that the proposed system achieved an RMSE value of 0.7639589866827494, while the MSE value was 0.5836333333333333333. This suggests that the system can provide a fairly accurate prediction of the dose of coagulant required in the coagulation process.

Abstract

Digital transformation in Vocational High Schools (SMK) faces significant challenges, particularly the dominance of traditional teaching methods and the limited involvement of parents in the learning process. This study aims to develop a Moodle Plus–based e-learning platform integrated with parental involvement as supervisory partners, and to evaluate its validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the plomp model, which consists of preliminary investigation, prototype development, and assessment phases. The trial involved 31 tenth-grade students at SMKN 2 Yogyakarta, adopting a One-Group Pretest–Posttest design. The validity of the e-learning platform was assessed using ISO 25010 standards, focusing on functionality, usability, and portability. Effectiveness was measured by comparing pretest and posttest results through the Wilcoxon test. The findings indicate thatthe Moodle Plus–based e-learning platform is valid, with product moment correlation values of r = 1 for functionality and portability (excellent) and r = 0.607 for usability (good). The Wilcoxon test produced a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), demonstrating a substantial improvement in students’ psychomotor learning outcomes after using the platform. In conclusion, Moodle Plus e-learning, supported by parental involvement as supervisory partners, is proven to be valid, practical, and effective, making it feasible for implementation as a Learning Management System in vocational schools. Keywords: e-learning, moodle plus, ISO 25010, parental collaboration

Abstract

The Short Message Service (SMS) has garnered widespread popularity due to its simplicity, reliability, and ubiquitous accessibility. This study aims to enhance the efficacy of SMS classification by refining the classification process itself. Specifically, it strives to streamline the process by diminishing feature dimensions and eliminating inconsequential attributes. The textual data undergoes preprocessing, which involves employing the N-Gram technique for feature representation, followed by meticulous feature selection utilizing Pearson Correlation. The study employs 5 of classification algorithms. Notably, the findings underscore that the optimal outcomes emerge from the fusion of the N-Gram methodology with feature selection through Pearson Correlation. Among these, the Support Vector Machine methodology stands out, exhibiting a remarkable 91.41% enhancement in accuracy without feature selection, a further improvement to 91.96% through N-Gram utilization, and a final performance of 70.80% following the inclusion of weighted correlation. However, it is imperative to acknowledge the limitations inherent in the model's generalizability, primarily stemming from the utilization of a relatively modest dataset. Despite the efficacy of Pearson correlation and N-gram-based feature selection in curbing data dimensionality and enhancing processing efficiency, certain pertinent features may have been overlooked, or the chosen attributes might not be optimally suited for specific classifications.

Abstract

Abstract- The use of chatbots in the learning process has been increasingly investigated and applied. While many studies have discussed the chatbot's ability to motivate students' interest in learning, few have examined whether students' perception of learning affects the effectiveness of chatbots and the pedagogical approach taken by chatbots as conversational agents during the learning process. There is a need for new analysis to capture the effects of Chatbot-Assisted Learning (Chatbot-AL) and student-chatbot conversations. In an eight-week semester, 48 first-year undergraduate students participated in a chatbot-assisted learning environment integrated into an engineering course. Data were collected through questionnaires on students' learning motivation and discourse in chatbot conversations. Statistical non-parametric analysis and Epistemic Network Analysis (ENA) were used to explore the research questions. The results showed that students with high learning perception had better learning motivation using chatbot-AL than students with low learning perception. Additionally, most of the questions asked by students were aimed at receiving emotional support through casual conversation with the chatbot. Finally, the implications, limitations, and conclusions were discussed.

Abstract

Instructional videos have become a popular tool for teaching complex topics in computer networking. However, these videos can often be lengthy and time-consuming, making it difficult for learners to obtain the key information they need. In this study, we propose an approach that leverages automatic summarization and language models to generate concise and informative summaries of instructional videos. To enhance the performance of the summarization algorithm, we also incorporate video attributes that provide contextual information about the video content. Using a dataset of computer networking tutorials, we evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method and show that it significantly improves the quality of the video summaries generated. Our study highlights the potential of using language models in automatic summarization and suggests that incorporating video attributes can further enhance the performance of these models. These findings have important implications for the development of effective instructional videos in computer networking and can be extended to other domains as well.

Abstract

The student admission process in many educational institutions is still conducted manually, leading to issues such as data duplication, input errors, and delays in reporting. This study designs and implements a desktop-based student registration information system using VB.NET and MySQL, equipped with an admission-status checking feature and an automated quota-management module. The system was developed using the waterfall model, consisting of requirement analysis, system design using UML, implementation, and black-box testing. Two user roles are supported: admin and student. Admin users can manage applicant data, configure program quotas, open or close the registration period, and generate reports, while student users can create accounts, complete registration forms, and independently check their admission results. The implementation results show that all core functions operate validly based on testing involving two respondents. The quota-management feature successfully restricts the number of applicants according to predetermined capacities, and the admission-status module automatically displays pass or fail results. The system improves administrative efficiency, enhances data accuracy, and reduces reliance on manual record-keeping. Therefore, this desktop application serves as an effective solution for schools requiring a reliable and efficient admission management system without depending on stable internet connectivity.
