Abstract

This study explores the novel effect of Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) magnetic field radiation on the ripening process of raw fermented tempe, a traditional Indonesian food made from soybeans. ELF magnetic fields are environmental factors that can influence the growth of microorganism activity. The study uses a unique laboratory experimental method that employs a Current Transformer (CT) device to produce an ELF magnetic field with an intensity of 500miu, which is a relatively high intensity compared to the natural background level of ELF magnetic field. The study examines 20 raw tempe samples, each weighing 100g, divided into two groups: a control group and an experimental group. The experimental group is exposed to the ELF magnetic field for 24 hours, while the control group is not. The study measures the changes in the microbial population, pH, moisture content, and sensory quality of the tempe samples after the exposure. The study aims to prove the effect of ELF magnetic field radiation on food security and to provide insights for the development of new food preservation techniques.

Abstract

Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) electromagnetic waves are electromagnetic waves with a frequency range of 0 to 300 Hz. ELF electromagnetic wave radiation produces non-thermal effects on the biological objects used, meaning that it does not cause temperature changes when interacting with or inducing the system. Electromagnetic waves are waves that arise due to changes in electric fields and strong magnetic fields. This research aims to prove the effect of Extremely low frequency (ELF) magnetic field on the food resilience process. The research method used is experimental research method. This research was carried out in the basic physics laboratory at the University of Jember. Data collection techniques using observation. Based on the research, it can be concluded that ELF magnetic field radiation has the potential as an alternative method in increasing the nutritional value and durability of fermented food ingredients. Exposure to Extremely Low Frequency magnets with an intensity of 1000 μT for 45 minutes resulted in changes in pH value and physical quality that affect food durability in cassava tape.

Abstract

This study explores the novel effect of Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) electromagnetic waves on the fermentation process of sticky rice tape, a traditional Indonesian food made from glutinous rice. ELF electromagnetic waves are waves consisting of magnetic fields and electric fields that do not require intermediaries in their propagation and have frequencies ranging from 0-300 Hz. The study uses a unique experimental method that exposes 2 kg of sticky rice tape, divided into 10 control and 10 experimental samples, each weighing 100 grams and wrapped in ziplock plastic, to ELF electromagnetic waves for two days. The study uses a device that generates ELF electromagnetic waves with a certain intensity and frequency. The study measures the changes in the pH, density, and taste of the sticky rice tape samples after the exposure. The results show that the experimental group’s sticky rice tape had a higher pH, higher density, and sweeter taste than the control group’s sticky rice tape. The study proves the effect of ELF electromagnetic waves on the fermentation process of sticky rice tape and provides insights for the development of new food processing techniques. The study demonstrates the applicability and innovation of using ELF electromagnetic waves for food fermentation.

Abstract

ABSTRACTExtremely Low Frequency (ELF) electromagnetic radiation is an electromagnetic wave that has a low frequency range, which is around 3Hz-300Hz. Gclumps at this frequency have a very long wavelength of about 100,000 to 10,000 km per wave. Tape is one example of a fermented product. Exposure to ELF electromagnetic radiation can affect the duration of food ripeness, one example is fermentation on tape. Fermentation on tape uses the help of yeast, which is a microorganism that reacts on a substance to produce a product. The research method  used was experimental research with exposure to a 500 μT ELF magnetic field  on samples for 60 minutes. Exposure to ELF waves affects the maturity process of cassava tape which can be proven by differences in taste, texture, and color. Keywords: electromagnetic ELF, wave, tape  ABSTRAKRadiasi elektromagnetik Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) adalah gelombang elektromagnetik yang memiliki rentang frekuensi yang rendah, yaitu sekitar 3Hz-300Hz. Abstract

The discovery learning model, combined with the Vee map learning approach, has been found to be suboptimal in previous studies for enhancing inference skills and physics learning outcomes. This research is needed to investigate the effect of the discovery learning model, assisted by Vee Map, on the inference skills and physics learning outcomes of high school students in the context of alternating current material. Employing an experimental method with a posttest-only control group design, the study randomly selected a sample, assuming a homogeneous population. The population for this study was drawn from SMA Negeri Ambulu's Class XII. The sample was chosen randomly (cluster random sampling) under the premise of demographic homogeneity, yielding two classes: XII Science and Technology 1 as the experimental class and XII Science and Technology 2 as the control class. Data were gathered through posttests of inference skills and physics learning outcomes in experimental and control classes using alternating current material. Independent sample t-tests revealed a significant effect: inference skills showed a significance of 0.006 < 0.05, and physics learning outcomes had a significance of 0.000 < 0.05. These results validate the alternative hypothesis (H????), confirming a notable difference in students' inference skills between the control and experimental groups, and refute the null hypothesis (H0), which posited no significant difference. Consequently, this study concludes that the discovery learning model, as facilitated by the Vee Map, improves high school students' inference skills and physics learning outcomes in the subject of alternating current.
