Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of queue-based learning as an effort to strengthenemotional regulation in early childhood. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptivedesign. The subjects were children aged 4–6 years in an early childhood education setting, with teachersserving as supporting informants. Data were collected through observation, interviews, anddocumentation. Data analysis used an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, andconclusion drawing, with data validity ensured through source and technique triangulation. The resultsshowed that initially, children demonstrated limited emotional regulation skills, characterized byimpatience, emotional outbursts, and difficulty waiting for their turn. After consistent implementation ofqueuing activities, there was a noticeable improvement in children’s emotional regulation, includingincreased ability to wait calmly, follow rules, and reduce impulsive behavior. Queuing activities alsofacilitated the internalization of social values such as discipline, patience, and respect for others. Thesefindings indicate that queue-based learning can serve as an effective strategy to develop emotionalregulation in early childhood through direct social experiences. This study implies that simple dailyactivities can be optimized as meaningful tools for social-emotional learning in early childhood education.

Abstract

The literacy crisis among elementary school children in Indonesia shows that reading ability is still limited to deciphering texts, without optimal contextual understanding. This condition is exacerbated by the dominant use of gadgets, which has shifted children's reading habits and social interactions. This study aims to analyze the implementation of storytelling as a dialogic literacy practice in a literacy ecosystem involving children, tutors, families, and the learning environment at the Rungkut Library in Surabaya. The research method used was a descriptive qualitative approach, involving in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation of six purposively selected informants. Data analysis used the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana (2014). The results showed that storytelling activities create a dialogic space that allows children to engage in narrative reconstruction through interactions with tutors and peers, thereby constructing meaning together through the communication process. The 5W+1H approach and story retelling have been shown to improve children's reading comprehension, oral communication skills, and self-confidence. Family involvement is a real supportive factor through the habit of storytelling at home, while excessive gadget use and inconsistent attendance are the main inhibiting factors. This study provides a conceptual contribution to storytelling as a social literacy practice in community-based non-formal education.

Abstract

The migration of female migrant workers (TKW) has had complex implications for family structure, caregiving systems, and the identity of left-behind children. This study explores the dual role of TKW as both breadwinners and educators of their children, as well as its impact on children's identity formation. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, this research analyzes previous studies on female migrant workers and long-distance caregiving strategies. The findings reveal that children from migrant families experience changes in intergenerational family relationships and face challenges in developing their social, cultural, and emotional identities. Although left-behind children exhibit higher resilience levels than those from non-migrant households, they often experience a caregiving deficit and a decline in psychological well-being. Additionally, gender-based caregiving patterns have undergone transformation due to mothers assuming the primary breadwinner role. This study highlights the importance of incorporating children's perspectives into migration policies and family welfare programs to create a more sustainable migration strategy.
