Abstract

Abstract

The low motivation and participation of members of the Women Farmers Group (KWT) is thought to be related to an extension approach that has not been optimal in empowering members. This study aims to analyze the influence of agricultural extension workers' competence on the empowerment of KWT, which includes aspects of knowledge, attitude, skills, and work experience. The method used in this study was quantitative. Data processing techniques used descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the study simultaneously showed that extension worker competence (knowledge, attitude, skills, and work experience) had a positive and significant effect on KWT empowerment. Partially, knowledge competence was the most dominant variable. The coefficient of determination ($R^2$) value obtained was 73.5%, indicating that the four independent variables together influence the dependent variable of empowerment, while the remaining 26.5% is influenced by other factors or variables not examined in this study

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the income and feasibility of curly red chili farming in Bongki Lengkese Village, East Sinjai District, Sinjai Regency. The research employed a quantitative method using numerical data obtained from field observations to analyze production costs, revenue, income, and farming feasibility. The results showed that the average production cost of curly red chili farming was Rp. 3,508,071 per planting season. The average production reached 716.54 kg per season, generating an average total revenue (TR) of Rp. 17,792,090 per season. Based on this revenue and cost structure, the average net income (?) obtained by farmers was Rp. 14,284,019 per season. The feasibility analysis indicated that the R/C ratio was 5.07, meaning that every Rp. 1.00 of production cost generated Rp. 5.07 in revenue, resulting in a profit margin of Rp. 4.07. Therefore, curly red chili farming in Bongki Lengkese Village, East Sinjai District, Sinjai Regency is economically feasible and has good potential for further development.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of climate change on the income of lowland rice farmers in Lamatti Rilau Village. The research method used is quantitative with a cross-sectional study approach. This study was conducted in Lamatti Rilau Village, North Sinjai District, in June 2025. Data collection techniques were based on observation and questionnaires. The population in this study consisted of 381 members of farmer groups in Lamatti Rilau Village in 2024, while the sample size was calculated using the Slovin formula, resulting in 79 respondents. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling. The results of the study indicate that the adjusted R square value is 0.349 or 34.9%, which means that the independent variables jointly or simultaneously influence the dependent variable by 34.9%. Meanwhile, 65.1% of the income of lowland rice farmers is influenced by other variables not included in this study. The conclusion is that, partially, the shift in planting season and plant pest organisms (OPT) have a significant impact on the income of lowland rice farmers in Lamatti Rilau Village, while the decrease in production has an insignificant impact on their income. Simultaneously, there is a significant impact of the shift in planting season, decreased production, and plant pest organisms (OPT) on the income of lowland rice farmers in Lamatti Rilau Village

Abstract

Nutmeg farming is a vital economic pillar in Sinjai Regency, yet it continually faces challenges of low productivity caused by various production risks. A paradox exists between government investment through seedling aid and the condition of farmers who still struggle with uncertainty without a clear risk map. This study aims to (1) identify the primary sources of production risk, (2) analyze the level of production risk, and (3) analyze the factors affecting nutmeg farming production. This research was conducted on 86 nutmeg farmers in Sinjai Regency, selected using the proportional stratified random sampling method. Data analysis employed three approaches: descriptive analysis with scoring for risk sources, the Coefficient of Variation (CV) for the risk level, and the Cobb- Douglas production function analysis for production factors. The results show that Technical Risk (difficulties in maintenance, seedling selection, and fertilization) is the most dominant source of risk. The production risk level is statistically low (CV=0.2634), indicating productive stagnation. The analysis of production factors found that land area, labor, and pesticides have a significant effect, whereas fertilizer has no significant effect, confirming a knowledge gap. The main conclusion of this study is that the root cause of nutmeg productivity problems in Sinjai is not uncontrollable natural factors, but rather an internal technical knowledge crisis at the farmer level. This managerial weakness in cultivation makes the farming system highly vulnerable to what should be manageable risks, thereby threatening its long-term sustainability.
