Abstract

The growth and development of children under five is a crucial phase that affects the quality of life in the future. Early Growth and Development Stimulation, Detection, and Intervention (SDIDTK) is one of the important strategies to identify and deal with growth and development problems from an early age. The low knowledge and skills of Posyandu cadres and parents in conducting SDIDTK in East Penfui Village, Central Kupang District, Kupang Regency is one of the factors that can hinder early detection and proper handling. Therefore, empowering Posyandu cadres and parents is a strategic step to increase their capacity to support children's growth and development. This activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of Posyandu cadres and parents in stimulating, detecting, and intervening early in the growth and development of children under five. The implementation method includes counseling on the concept and importance of SDIDTK, demonstration of implementation techniques, and direct practicum by participants. Participants were given the opportunity to try the practice of SDIDTK directly with the assistance of the facilitator. Partners in this activity are all parents who have 15 toddlers and 5 Posyandu cadres in East Penfui Village, Central Kupang District, Kupang Regency. Evaluation was carried out through observation of participant involvement, questions and answers, and assessment of practical skills. The results of the evaluation showed that participants participated in the activity enthusiastically, were able to master the steps of SDIDTK well, and understood the importance of an active role in monitoring children's growth and development.

Abstract

Early childhood represents a critical period for growth and development that substantially influences the quality of future human resources. Therefore, regular developmental monitoring is essential to ensure the early identification of developmental problems. However, parental compliance with child development monitoring remains suboptimal, including in East Penfui Village. The Pre-Screening Developmental Questionnaire (PSDQ/KPSP) is a practical and user-friendly tool that may enhance parental involvement in developmental surveillance. This study aimed to analyze the effect of KPSP utilization on parental compliance in monitoring child development. A pre-experimental study with a one-group pretest–posttest design was conducted among 64 parents of children aged 0–6 years selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a respondent characteristics questionnaire, a parental compliance questionnaire, and the KPSP as the intervention instrument. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize respondent characteristics, while the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was employed to assess differences in compliance scores before and after the intervention due to the non-normal distribution of data (Shapiro–Wilk test, p < 0.05). The results showed that most respondents were aged 25–35 years, had completed senior high school education, were housewives, and had two to three children. Parental compliance scores increased significantly following the intervention, with the mean score rising from 56.25 ± 10.32 before KPSP implementation to 82.40 ± 8.15 after the intervention. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test demonstrated a statistically significant difference between pretest and posttest compliance scores (p < 0.001). The findings indicate that the use of KPSP significantly improves parental compliance in monitoring child development. Integrating KPSP into community-based child health services may strengthen parental participation in developmental surveillance and support the early detection of developmental delays.

Abstract

Stunting is a public health problem that is still a national priority because it impacts growth, cognitive development, and the quality of human resources. Handling stunting requires a comprehensive approach involving families, communities, health workers, and the government. The Socioecological Model approach is a strategy that is able to integrate various levels of influence on health behavior, so that it is hoped that it can increase the effectiveness of preventing and treating stunting. This activity aims to increase knowledge, skills, and participation of families and communities in efforts to handle stunting in toddlers through the Socioecological Model approach in East Penfui Village. The activity method is carried out using the community empowerment method, which includes three stages, namely planning, implementation, and evaluation. The planning stage is carried out through coordination with the village government, Community Health Center, Posyandu cadres, and community leaders, as well as identifying community needs. The implementation phase includes counseling about stunting, training for Posyandu cadres, demonstrations on preparing nutritious menus based on local food, family assistance, group discussions, and practice of anthropometric measurements. The evaluation stage was carried out using pre-test and post-test, observing participant skills, as well as monitoring family and cadre participation. The evaluation results show an increase in family knowledge and skills regarding stunting prevention, infant and child feeding practices, and the use of nutritious local food. Posyandu cadres also experienced increased capacity in carrying out early detection of stunting and anthropometric measurements according to standards. Apart from that, there is better collaboration between families, Posyandu cadres, Community Health Centers, and village governments to support sustainable stunting prevention efforts.

Abstract

This article reports an analysis of the relationship between the level of cadre empowerment and pregnant women’s compliance with the implementation of the Birth Planning and Complication Prevention Program (P4K). The study employed a cross-sectional survey design conducted in Penfui Timur Village, Kupang Regency, involving 30 community health cadres. Cadre empowerment was assessed through dimensions of knowledge, skills, support, and participation, while pregnant women’s compliance served as the dependent variable. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using univariate analysis, bivariate analysis with the Chi-square test, and multivariate analysis using logistic regression. The results showed a significant association between cadre empowerment and pregnant women’s compliance with P4K implementation (p = 0.012). Cadres with a high level of empowerment were more effective in assisting compliant pregnant women compared to those with lower levels of empowerment. Participation in P4K training also had a significant effect on improving pregnant women’s compliance (p = 0.021). These findings indicate that cadre empowerment and training are key factors in enhancing pregnant women’s compliance with the P4K program. Strengthening cadre capacity through continuous training and institutional support is therefore necessary to optimize program implementation at the community level.

Abstract

Background: The procedure for storing medical record documents (MRDs) involves sorting the records by their medical record numbers before returning them to the medical records department and placing them in storage. This process facilitates the retrieval of required records and streamlines storage operations, thereby preventing misfiling when the documents are needed for patient care. Delays in locating MRDs on the filing racks can result from storage or placement errors, commonly referred to as misfiling. Efficient storage of medical record documents (MRDs) requires proper sorting by medical record numbers before returning them to the filing system. This process ensures quick retrieval and minimizes errors. However, delays in locating MRDs often occur due to misfiling—typically caused by improper storage or placement. This study aims to identify factors contributing to misfiling, focusing on the storage system, alignment, numbering, and human resources. Methods: This study is quantitative research with a descriptive design. The analysis used is univariant analysis. The population comprises inpatient medical records returned from the care units after patient discharge during the period of January to December 2023. The sampling method employed is non-probability sampling, specifically using accidental sampling. Results: Among 50 inpatient MRDs stored in the filing room at Makassar City Regional General Hospital, 15 (30%) were misfiled Conclusion: The factors contributing to the misfiling of medical record documents in the filing room include incompetent medical record personnel, misalignment in the filing system, the absence of tracers, and the lack of an expedition logbook. Misfiling was associated with several factors, including untrained personnel, inconsistencies in the filing alignment, absence of tracers, and the lack of a delivery logbook (previously referred to as an “expedition logbook”) used to track the movement of documents. Addressing these issues may improve filing accuracy and support patient care efficiency.

Abstract

Komite Penelitian Kesehatan Fakultas Kesehatan Masyarakat Universitas Airlangg.

Kartini, Kelapa Lima, Kupang, Indonesia; serlyansieboimau69@gmail.com ABSTRACT Rapid population growth remains a major demographic challenge in Indonesia, driven by limited reproductive health knowledge and persistent cultural norms. To support population regulation and improve maternal health, the government promotes the Family Planning Program, making it essential to understand factors that shape women’s decisions regarding postpartum contraception. This study aimed to examine the relationship between maternal knowledge of the Birth Planning and Complication Prevention Program and decision making about postpartum contraceptive use in the working area of the Tarus Community Health Center in Kupang District, East Nusa Tenggara. An analytic survey with a cross sectional approach was conducted among thirty pregnant women attending five community health posts, using a structured questionnaire and applying descriptive statistics and the Chi Square test for analysis. The findings indicate that most respondents demonstrated good knowledge of the Birth Planning and Complication Prevention Program and that the majority decided to use postpartum contraception. A statistically significant association was identified between maternal knowledge of the program and postpartum contraceptive decision making. These results suggest that stronger understanding of birth planning and complication prevention encourages informed choices regarding postpartum contraception, underscoring the importance of enhanced educational efforts for pregnant women. Keywords: maternal knowledge; birth planning; complication prevention; decision making; postpartum contraception
